Previous reporting: Warren County Prosecutor David Fornshell is holding a press confere.nce Friday afternoon to discuss several fights that caused Kings Island to close early on May 22.
According to authorities and park officials, there were several fights in the afternoon inside the park and the parking lot, and a large fight happened just before 10 p.m. Saturday.
Visitors said Kings Island was very crowded on Saturday and they reported seeing large groups of older teens or young adults shouting, pushing, and being aggressive.
Kings Island released a statement about the early closure:
“The safety of our guests and associates is always our top priority. On Saturday, the decision was made to close the park 30 minutes early due to unruly behavior and altercations involving several teenagers. This behavior did not align with our park’s values and was not the experience we want any guest to have while visiting Kings Island.”
Following the fights, the amusement park announced on Tuesday that it will be increasing security and is working with the Mason Police Department to identify the individuals responsible for the fighting.
On Thursday, Kings Island announced it would be closing two hours earlier, citing worker shortages. The adjusted hours will continue through June 10.
