Bicyclist dead after crash with car on Columbia Parkway


A 53-year-old bicyclist is dead after crashing with a car Thursday on Columbia Parkway. Richard Vennemeyer was pronounced dead Thursday at University of Cincinnati Medical Center, officials with the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office said Friday.According to investigators with the Cincinnati Police Department, Vennemeyer was riding a motorized bicycle on Kemper Lane just before noon Thursday.Officials say he lost control of his bicycle, crossing onto Columbia Parkway and striking a car stopped for traffic in the eastbound lanes. Vennemeyer was taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he died hours later. Officials said Vennemeyer was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, and speed is believed to be a factor. Any witnesses to the crash are asked to contact investigators at 513-352-2514.
