The mayor of San Jose said several people were being treated for injuries after police and sheriff's officials responded to reports of a shooting at a railyard on Wednesday.
The shooting took place at a light rail facility that is next door to the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Department and across a freeway from the airport.

Multiple people were killed and wounded and the gunman was "down" after a shooting rampage Wednesday at a light rail yard in San Jose, California, authorities said.

Police spokesman Russell Davis said the gunman was dead and that the victims included employees of the rail yard.

"There is a lot of speculation on fatalities," Davis said. “I can’t confirm the exact number of injuries and fatalities, but I will tell you that they are multiple injuries and multiple fatalities in this case,"

Mayor Sam Liccardo said several people were being treated for injuries and that the situation was still being assessed.

"The shooter is no longer a threat, and the facility has been evacuated," Liccardo tweeted. "I will update as more information becomes available."
