Fire investigators say a fire that appears to have been started by electric scooters recharging sent two children to the hospital with smoke inhalation Tuesday.
Cincinnati District Fire Chief Warren Weems said in a release that a possible house fire was called in to the communications center at 3:49 p.m. Tuesday.
Firefighters arrived and found a two-story, single family home in the 1900 block of Andina Avenue in Bond Hill on fire with smoke emanating from the front door on the first floor.
The release said firefighters entered the structure and immediately rescued two young boys who were still inside.
The fire was located in the front living room and was extinguished by firefighters in short order.
The Cincinnati Fire Department's fire investigative unit was called to the scene and the cause of the fire appears to be accidental . It was attributed to two electric scooters that were charging in the same room.
The two boys who were rescued were taken to the hospital for treatment due to smoke inhalation.
There were working smoke detectors at the house. There were no other family members present at the time of the fire.
Estimated damage from the fire was $16,168.
