A woman was fatally shot in Sycamore Township Monday, and the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office says a fire and aggravated burglary in the area are related to the shooting.
Kyla Woods, spokesperson for the Hamilton County Sheriff's office said a suspect is in custody in the fatal shooting at The Kenwood Greene Condominium complex in the 7700 block of Montgomery Road.
She said the shooting, which happened at about 4 p.m., was followed by a burglary and a fire in Silverton, and all three incidents are related.
Hamilton County Sheriff Charmaine McGuffey said the man who is in custody and the woman who was shot knew one another, although the relationship between the two is unclear.
McGuffey said the man came to the condominiums in a vehicle. The woman was shot outside, and the man then fled on foot to the 6000 block of Euclid Road, where she said he carjacked a van, forcing two people out of the vehicle at gunpoint.
McGuffey said the suspect then drove to his own residence in the 6900 block of Home Street in Silverton, where he is accused of setting a fire. She said there was significant damage.
Officials would not confirm this was a domestic incident and police did not identify the suspect or the woman who was shot.
The incident remains under investigation.
