Man accused of killing woman, setting own home on fire is critically injured

A woman was shot and killed Monday outside of the Kenwood Greene condominiums off Montgomery Road in Sycamore Township, said a Hamilton County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman.

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office says the man accused of shooting and killing a woman Monday shortly before 4 p.m. in Sycamore Township is himself in critical condition from fire injuries.

The man forced his way into the back of the woman's residence in the 7700 block of Montgomery Road, police said. Police said the man followed Ire Johnson, 30, whom he knew, to the front of the building, shooting her outside.

Police have accused the man of committing an aggravated robbery by taking a Honda Odyssey at gunpoint at 4:07 p.m. in the 6000 block of Euclid Road.

Hamilton Sheriff Charmane McGuffey said the suspect in the fatal shooting of a Sycamore Township woman, who is now in custody, drove a carjacked van to his residence on Home Avenue, and set the house on fire.

At 4:13 p.m., the suspect, whom the sheriff's office did not identify in the release, had driven the van to his residence in the 6900 block of Home Street in Silverton.

He set the house on fire, which resulted in an explosion, police said. The man escaped from the fire. He is being treated in a hospital for injures received in the fire and explosion, according to the release.
