Former Cincinnati Reds Todd Frazier, Homer Bailey and Matt Kemp are among players on USA Baseball's roster for the upcoming Summer Olympics baseball qualifier that starts May 31 in Florida, along with Reds minor-league catcher Mark Kolozsvary.
Frazier and Bailey were teammates in Cincinnati from 2011 to 2015. Kemp, traded by the Los Angeles Dodgers with Kyle Farmer, Yasiel Puig, Alex Wood and cash to the Reds for Bailey, Jeter Downs and Josiah Gray, played in 20 games for Cincinnati in 2019. Kolozsvary is on the Double-A Chattanooga Lookouts' roster.
Frazier was designated for assignment by the Pirates earlier this month, just before the start of a three-game series in Pittsburgh against the Reds. Frazier then engaged in a Twitter beef that included name-calling and NSFW language with Pittsburgh sports talk host Mark Madden.
Bailey, a first-round draft pick of the Reds in 2004 who pitched for Cincinnati from 2007 to 2018, last pitched in Major League Baseball for the Minnesota Twins last season - posting a 3.38 ERA in eight innings over two starts. He was released by the Twins last September.
