Danny Peters discovered what he wanted to do with the rest of his life at an early age.
He wanted to be a basketball coach, like his dad.
Dan Peters would bring his son to games. They'd watch film together. After his middle school practices, Danny would chart his team's plays out on paper to show to his dad.
"I'm in middle school and I've got my little steno pad trying to diagram the plays like him and we'd go over it together," said Danny, who last week was named an assistant men's basketball coach at Xavier University. "I knew I wanted to get into (coaching) when the time came."
Growing up, Danny and his family moved 11 times, following his dad wherever the game took them. From Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio, to Western Carolina, Akron, Saint Joseph's, and Youngstown State, Dan's job eventually brought him to Cincinnati as an assistant coach under Bob Huggins from 1999-2004.
