Flying Pig Marathon organizers are planning a return to in-person events this fall.
An in-person Fall Pig Works weekend will be held Oct. 29- 31, featuring the combined Queen Bee and Flying Pig races. Participants will be able to sign up for their events in two stages starting Monday.
On May 3, those who are registered virtual participants and Lifetime Pig Works Members will receive first access to register for their preferred events, officals said. Registration will open to the public May 10.
The virtual Flying Pig Marathon is still planned this weekend with a number of running and walking events around Greater Cincinnati.
A Finish Swine will be installed at the pedestrian walkway on Freedom Way at The Banks on Sunday.
“We want to get back to in-person events as quickly and safely as possible, but for right now, we are planning these smaller get-togethers so we can celebrate the accomplishments of our participants as they take part in this spring’s Flying Pig events,” said Pig Works CEO Iris Simpson Bush.
Officials said they are continuing to work with local officials to determine the necessary guidelines for this fall.
“We are grateful for the patience and loyalty our participants have shown us over these last few months of virtual events,” Simpson Bush said in a statement. “While our in-person numbers may be limited, we are looking ahead to the fall while working with our state and local officials to put on the safest events possible for both our Flying Pigs and Queen Bees.”
The tentative schedule for this fall includes:
- Friday, October 29, Fifty West Mile
- Saturday, October 30, Toyota 10K, Tri-State Running Company 5K, Queen Bee Medpace 4 Miler
- Sunday, October 31, Flying Pig Marathon powered by P&G, Paycor Half Marathon and Queen Bee Half Marathon empowered by P&G and Kroger (half marathons will be run concurrently on the same course)
