Getting A Visa
American citizens can receive a visa to enter Egypt upon arrival, which will cost $25 (cash only!) and can be purchased at a special window before you head through immigration. If you book a guide in advance, they should take care of your visa ahead of time, and you’ll get to skip the line.

No Drones Here
Drones are illegal in Egypt, so do not plan on bringing one with you. They are not legal for fly and they are illegal to even bring in. Unless you want to be questioned at the airport for several hours, just leave it at home.

If you want to feel safe and also know that you are getting to see everything that’s important, getting a guide is the right way to go. Not only will you get a much more in depth background in the rich history of Egypt. Also, you should know that you’ll need cash most places around the country, and most ATMs have a max withdrawal of $250.

There’s so much to see in this incredible country, but of course there are sights that absolutely cannot be missed, especially if it is your first time visiting. If you’re basing your trip in Cairo, these are the highlights that you absolutely cannot miss: the Pyramids of Giza, Saqqara Pyramid, Coptic Cairo, Egyptian Museum of Antiquities, Mosque of Muhammad Ali, Alexandria, and Khan el Khalili Souk.
