In a vote that ended May 21, Cincinnati.com readers selected winners for the Cincinnati Enquirer Athlete of the Week, presented by Mercy Health, for the May 10-16 voting period.
Winners will receive a certificate sent through the school's athletic department. The certificates through April 16 have been mailed. We will send the others soon.

You do not have to be a subscriber to vote, a period that lasts Monday evenings to 5 p.m. each Friday during the season. Please submit any nominees by Sunday evening for the previous week's performances to [email protected].
This week's winners are:
Ohio boys team: Moeller volleyball – The Crusaders topped No. 1 Elder to clinch a share of the GCL title and take the top seed of the regional tournament.
Ohio girls team: Lebanon softball – Lebanon won four games, including two postseason meetings over the week. Wins over Milford and Loveland improved Lebanon to 16-2 in the ECC, making a tie for the conference with Milford.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana boys team: Beechwood Esports – The Madden 21 team won the East regional championship against a team from Washington, D.C. May 13.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana girls team: Ryle cheerleading – The Raiders finished fourth in the All-Girls Medium category at the KHSAA competitive cheer championships.
Ohio baseball, big school: Matt Hartness, St. Xavier – The junior went 2-for-3 with a double and 3 RBI in St. Xavier’s 8-1 win over Roger Bacon.
Ohio baseball, small school: Conner Thamann, Reading – The sophomore pitched a complete shut out against Finneytown leading to his first league win. He went 9-for-14 and has a batting average of .714 from these last five games.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana baseball: Tyler Canup, Campbell County - The senior batted .500 this week, going 7-for-14 with 7 runs scored and 3 RBI.
Boys lacrosse: Seth Truter, Sycamore – The freshman scored twice, had an assist and five ground balls in Sycamore’s 14-5 win over Oak Hills.
Girls lacrosse: Corinne Baker, Sycamore – The junior scored four times as Sycamore beat Dublin Jerome in overtime, 11-10.
Ohio softball, big school: Maddie Vaughn, Seton – The senior went 1-for-2 with two walks, two RBI and two runs scored in Seton’s playoff win over Loveland.
Ohio softball, small school: Mia Smith, McNicholas – The senior went 3-for-3 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored in McNick’s 12-0 win over Seven Hills.
Northern Kentucky softball: Bella Bastin, Campbell County – The junior led the Camels on the softball diamond, crushing a solo home run on Monday, a 3-run blast on Tuesday, a grand slam on Wednesday, and another 3-run shot on Friday. For the week, she went 9 for 15, drove in 15 runs, and she has now homered in four consecutive games.
Ohio tennis, singles: Elizabeth Fahrmeier, Summit Country Day – Fahrmeier cruised to the Cincinnati Division II sectional finals where she mounted a comeback victory to claim the sectional title.
Ohio tennis, doubles: Tucker Berry and Andrew Evans, St. Xavier – Berry and Evans advanced to the Division I sectionals finals with two 6-0, 6-0 wins before battling another pair of Bombers to claim the sectional championship.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana tennis, singles: Heidi Kane, East Central – She won the Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference title at first singles and was named EIAC MVP for the season.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana tennis, doubles: Callie Pope and Ella McAndrew, Lawrenceburg – Pope, a senior, and McAndrew, a junior, won the first doubles championship at the Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference championships.
Northern Kentucky boys track: Al Bessler, St. Henry – He won the high jump and long jump in a meet at Dixie Heights.
Northern Kentucky girls track: Lexi Baker, Villa Madonna – She shattered a 12-year old school record in the 3,200-meter run, running 11:51.95 at the Villa for Life meet.
Ohio boys track: Noah Chudnoff, Sycamore – Chudnoff cleared 14-00 in the pole vault at the GMC Championships on May 14 to take first place.
Ohio girls track: Emma Upp, Walnut Hills – She was the school’s biggest point earner at the ECC Track and Field Championships. She scored 10 points in the long jump, eight points in the 4x100, and six points in the 4x200 for a total of 24 points. Emma earned All-ECC honors for her efforts in the long jump (1st - 17' 3.5") and the 4x100 (2nd - 51.49).
Boys volleyball: Kyle Rees, West Clermont - Despite setting every rotation, Kyle was able to still obtain 22 kills this past week along with his 75 assists. He also led the team with 12 aces, eight of those coming in the win against Lakota West. He helped defensively as well, picking up 23 digs.
