It has been three years since a driver hit Timmy Newkirk, 33, in Colerain Township and left him to die.Police have never found the person or their car.Newkirk's family has never stopped fighting for closure and justice, and now, they face another heartbreaking anniversary.His mother still tears up talking about bringing her son into this world and watching him die.We talked with her in Covington about finding that closure.But as more time passes, she said that feels further and further away."That's my baby. He's on my mind 24/7. It's been really hard this year. It's been three years and this is the hardest year," Deborah Newkirk-Fields said.She remembers her son with many broken bones and dying in the hospital in 2018.Every day, Newkirk-Fields prays for justice and closure for her son."We don't know who did it. I'm hoping someday we will, but it's not looking good," she said.Colerain Township police said the young father was hit by a 1997-2001 Toyota Camry in the 7900 block of Cheviot Road on April 22, 2018.He was left there, severely hurt, with no one to help.The car and its driver have not been found in all these years.Newkirk-Fields still begs them to come clean."I forgive you, but you have got to come forward. Your life, my life, this ain't about you, it's about me. I need to know if it was intentional, if it was an accident," she said.Three years later, she said police have no new leads.Optimism that someone will be held accountable is dwindling.Newkirk's son is now nearly a teenager and reminds Newkirk-Fields of his father.She wants to find closure for him, too, as she wears a necklace with Newkirk's name every single day."It's him with me at all times. I was with him when he came in this world and I was with him when he left and he will be by my heart. He is my heart," Newkirk-Fields said.We also checked with Colerain Township police and so far, it does not appear they have any new leads in the case.That doesn't make this anniversary any less painful for a family still clinging on for justice.Colerain Township police have been looking for the Camry for years.They believe it has a missing passenger-side mirror, missing right front headlight assembly and missing right-side bumper.Police said it also my have hood and windshield damage.So far, they've found nothing.Anyone with information is asked to call Colerain Township Police at 513-321-2677.
