After being closed for 16 month, Children’s Museum will reopen July 1

After a 16-month long closure, The Cincinnati Museum Center will reopen its Children’s Museum on July 1.

Elizabeth Pierce, president and CEO of CMC, said after a recent consultation with healthcare professionals and seeing the new guidance from the Centers for Disease Control, they believe the center can reopen safely.

CMC will limit guest capacity in the Children’s Museum to allow for social distancing and visitors will still be required to wear masks to protect those who are not vaccinated, including children not yet eligible.

“We know we’re not the only ones who will have this day circled on our calendars,” said Pierce. “Seeing kids climb through The Woods, splash through Waterworks, and have those transformative moments of joy and epiphany are some of our most fulfilling moments as museum professionals.”

CMC will provide an update on ticketing details and availability in the coming weeks.

Along with the Children’s Museum, CMC will reopen its STEM-in-action Science Interactives Gallery, presented by Procter & Gamble, this summer.

The updated Ice Age Gallery, closed since the start of Union Terminal’s restoration in July 2016, will also reopen on July 1.
