Former Cincinnati Bengals defensive back Dre Kirkpatrick, who played last season for the Arizona Cardinals, is visiting the New England Patriots on Thursday, according to a report via Twitter from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Kirkpatrick, 31, had three interceptions and 56 tackles (combined) in the 14 games in which he appeared for the Cardinals last season, including 11 starts. He signed a one-year deal with Arizona last August.
Last October, Kirkpatrick intercepted former Bengals teammate Andy Dalton during the Cardinals' win against the Cowboys.
The Bengals released Kirkpatrick, their first-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, in March 2020. The Enquirer's Tyler Dragon wrote that terminating Kirkpatrick's contract gave the Bengals $8.2 million in salary cap relief.
Kirkpatrick had 10 interceptions in his eight seasons with the Bengals, including two returned for touchdowns and one in 2017 returned 101 yards - the longest in NFL history to not result in a touchdown, per Elias Sports Bureau.
He started 67 of his 99 games as a Bengal, including the six games in which he played during the 2019 season before suffering a season-ending knee injury.
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported via Twitter that the Pats also worked out former Bengals guard Alex Redmond on Thursday:
