After the success of its documentary series "Dark Side of the Ring'" which recently aired a show on Cincinnati native Brian Pillman, Vice TV is heading to the football field and returning to the Queen City for one of its first episodes.
"Dark Side of Football" will premier at 10 p.m. on May 13 and "will shine a light on stories that live in the shadows of America’s favorite sport," according to a release.
The show will chronicle former players, coaches and past teams. The trailer to the spinoff show included interviews with Bill Romanowski and also Cincinnati Bengals legend Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson.
Johnson will be featured on an episode about "diva" wide receivers.
He is one of the organization's greatest players and was recently included on the team's first Ring of Honor ballot. Johnson is still a frequent presence on the Bengals' official social media platforms and remains closely tied to the organization.
But his tenure with the Bengals during his playing days was rocky at times. Reports of late night calls to head coach Marvin Lewis, frustration over targets, fines for celebrations and even a name change to "Ochocinco."
Eventually it all led to a trade to New England following the 2010 season.
How good was Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson?
Johnson caught 751 passes as a Bengal and 66 of those were touchdowns. He had 10,783 yards receiving in Cincinnati. In 2006, he led the NFL in receiving yards with 1,369, but he had even more in 2007 with 1,440 yards.
In 10 season with the Bengals, Johnson had more than 1,000 yards receiving seven times, including six straight season of more than 1,100 yards receiving.
Will Chad Johnson make the Cincinnati Bengals Ring of Honor?
Johnson is probably a lock to one day make the Bengals Ring of Honor.
He is the Bengals all-time leader in receiving yards, receptions and touchdowns and is second in team history in total touchdowns, trailing only Pete Johnson, who had 70.
Chad Johnson is going to box in June
Johnson is on the same card as Floyd Mayweather and Jake Paul as the 43-year-old will box an unannounced celebrity on June 6 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.
