Former Cincinnati Bengals fan favorite Chad Johnson - aka Ochocinco - announced last week that he agreed to fight in an exhibition bout on the Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Logan Paul undercard June 6 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida.
ProFootballTalk's Mike Florio reported Sunday that Johnson and Adam "Pacman" Jones - Chad's Bengals teammate during the 2010 season - discussed facing off in the bout, but Johnson declined.
From @Ochocinco last week via Twitter:
It's likely to be a four- or six-round exhibition bout and the opponent has not been finalized, according to ESPN.com's Cameron Wolfe, who added that the expectation is Johnson will face a celebrity or athlete rather than a pro boxer.
Johnson, 43, was part of the Bengals' #NewStripes announcement April 19 in which they unveiled their new uniforms.
Johnson was in the Queen City for a visit last month. While he didn't get to throw out a ceremonial first pitch or serve as the Cincinnati Reds' batboy - per last-minute requests he made via Twitter - he did get to visit his former team, and apparently left a present in Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow's locker. On a receipt he signed from a Springdale restaurant - where he appeared to leave a $500 tip - he said he's coming back to play for the Bengals.
Burrow emerged from a Twitter slumber in March with a funny response to Chad's suggestion of a six-month meal-prep plan for Burrow and Cleveland Browns receiver Odell Beckham Jr. "Sorry Chad, I can't eat McDonald's every day," Burrow tweeted.
