The snow has switched over to rain Sunday morning, leaving a slushy mess across the region. While rain will continue to fall through the day, it will switch back to snow Sunday night as temperatures cool.
Roads were covered with a mix of snow and ice Sunday morning, ODOT warned drivers.
Most parts of our region saw 1-2 inches of snow Saturday night. That will continue to melt as temperatures rise to 40 degrees Sunday and rain falls.
The rain is expected to switch back over to snow before 10 p.m. Sunday night and continue into Monday morning. About an inch of snow could accumulate, according to forecasters at the National Weather Service in Wilmington.
"A rush of cold air on north winds of 10 to 20 mph with higher gusts will combine with scattered snow showers overnight," according to the weather service. While accumulations will the light, the rush of cold air could cause treacherous road conditions with little advance notice, the weather service said in a bulletin.
