One district three police officer tests positive for COVID-19

CINCINNATI — A Cincinnati Police Officer has a confirmed case of COVID-19, Cincinnati Police Chief Eliot K. Isaac confirmed Saturday. The officer is assigned to district three.

In the announcement, officials said two additional officers from district three have also been tested for the coronavirus and are in self quarantine as they wait for test results.

"While we know this is trying time for our officer that has tested positive, we are grateful that they are experiencing mild symptoms and we will support them and the entire Department as this pandemic impacts our city and the world. We will continue to provide the highest level of police services, but we must emphasize the importance of social distancing and the steps we need to take as a society and as a Department to keep our employees safe, so we can keep the public safe," Chief Isaac said Saturday.

CPD said they are immediately taking measures to decontaminate the district three building and implementing an alternative site for where the district will operate. Officials said the department continue to provide full patrol services while transitioning to a new location.

WCPO will continue to update this story.
