In a vote that ended June 4, Cincinnati.com readers selected winners for the Cincinnati Enquirer Athlete of the Week, presented by Mercy Health, for the May 24-31 voting period.
Winners will receive a certificate sent through the school's athletic department. The certificates through May 21 have been mailed. We will send the others at the end of the spring season for Greater Cincinnati.

You do not have to be a subscriber to vote, a period that lasts Monday evenings to 5 p.m. each Friday during the season. Please submit any nominees by Sunday evening for the previous week's performances to [email protected].
This week's winners are:
Ohio boys team: Elder volleyball – Elder won its part of the regional bracket with a 3-0 sweep of Mason May 27 and a thrilling five-set victory over St. Xavier in the finals on May 29.
Ohio girls team: Princeton track and field – By one point over the runner-up and three points over the third-place finisher, Princeton won the Division I regional title on May 28.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana boys team: Conner baseball – The Cougars won their last three games of the regular season.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana girls team: Bishop Brossart softball – The Mustangs outlasted Scott 14-9 in the 37th District semifinals for their third win in a row, advancing to the 10th Region Tournament.
Ohio baseball, big school: Brenden Garula, Mason - On May 25, the junior pitched six innings, striking out 14 and giving up only one run. At the plate, he went 1-for-3 with a home run and 3 RBI. They won the game 3-1 against Harrison. Brenden assisted his team in winning two games last week, including a district championship!
Ohio baseball, small school: Cameron Bryant, Cincinnati Country Day – The junior pitched a complete-game shutout with 17 strikeouts in the 1-0 win over Purcell Marian in the May 24 postseason game. At the plate, he was 2-for-2 with a game-winning RBI and a stolen base in that game. In the 7-4 win over Aranum, he went 1-for-4 with 1 RBI at the plate.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana baseball: Logan Wilson, Dixie Heights – He hit a three-run home run in Dixie’s second win over Beechwood this season.
Boys lacrosse: Max Tepe, Mariemont – The junior scored 8 goals and had 3 assists in two games, wins over Indian Hill (12-8) May 27 and a 19-6 win over Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy.
Girls lacrosse: Sara Grove, Mason - The starting goalie had a 68% save percentage, 2 Interceptions, and 3 Ground balls in Division I playoff games this week, and was named to 1st Team GMC. She led Mason to its first-ever share of a Conference Title and a 3-1 playoff record. Sara is finishing the season No. 1 in Ohio in save percentage, No. 4 in goals-against average and is leading the GMC conference in Interceptions.
Ohio softball: Laney Clemons, New Richmond – The junior went 2-for-2 in New Richmond’s season-ending loss to Lakewood in the Division II regional semifinals.
Northern Kentucky softball: Paige Stewart, Campbell County – She pitched a five-inning no-hitter in a district win over Calvary Christian. She also had three hits, two for triples and three RBI.
Ohio tennis, singles: Vignesh Gogineni, Mason – The junior finished second in the Division I state singles tournament May 29, the highest of any local singles player of that division.
Ohio tennis, doubles: Sam King and Akshay Joshi, Mason – The Comet duo placed second in the Division I state doubles tournament May 29.
Northern Kentucky tennis: Sofia Allen and Elise Henderson, Scott – The seniors finished second in the 10th Region doubles championship.
Northern Kentucky boys track: Devon McCormick, Bishop Brossart – The senior won the discus and shotput at the Bishop Brossart Quad May 25.
Northern Kentucky girls track: Natalie Hall, Walton-Verona – The sophomore won the high jump and 100-meter hurdles at the Bishop Brossart Quad May 25.
Ohio boys track: Justin Ackerman, New Richmond – Ackerman topped 6-03 in his high jump try, nailing down a first-place tie in the region.
Ohio girls track: Keniya Dexter, Princeton – Dexter’s 2:16.80 in the 800-meter gave her an almost three-second cushion as she won the regional event.
