Social media posts reveal hotel shooting erupted after dice games

SYCAMORE TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKRC) – People inside the hotel room and guests on the same floor of a double homicide called for help after two people were shot. One caller said people in masks and guns came into the room.

“They just killed my brother, they just killed my brother, please,” said one caller. “My little brother got shot, we at the Hampton hotel, they came in to try and rob us. Please. “

Videos posted to social media before the shooting show numerous dice games happening in the room with large amounts of cash and some people with guns.

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office identified the victims as 15-year-old Ja'Quan D. Howard and 20-year-old Taymar A. Jones. Investigators said close to a dozen people were in the room where the shooting happened.

One hotel guest down the hall also called 911.

“There are gunshots fired on the fourth floor, they’re still fighting, I heard at least 12 (shots) ,” said the caller.

The double homicide is yet another in the Greater Cincinnati area in recent months linked to dice games.

Back in June, two teens fired towards Cincinnati Police officers after being called to break up a dice game behind an Evanston apartment building.

Also during the summer, two separate incidents in Over-The-Rhine followed dice games. One woman drover her car on the sidewalk trying to hit people and other man set a car on fire.
