CINCINNATI (WKRC) - A local family has launched a petition drive to try to keep their son's killer behind bars. Adrian Williams is up for parole in February 2020.
Williams took three-year-old Jason Evers from the Powell Crosley YMCA next to the family's Springfield Township home in 1982. Jason's sister said the then-17-year-old gave her brother a piggyback ride and never came back.
He killed Jason, buried the boy's body an tried to demand a ransom from his family.
Forty-three days later, police found Jason's decomposed body.
Williams denied killing Jason but he was convicted in Dec. of 1982 of involuntary manslaughter and kidnapping. He was sentenced to a maximum of 50 years in prison. Williams has served 37 years.
Williams did later admit killing Jason to former Local 12 reporter Deborah Dixon in 1995. He also confessed five years later to Jason's sister, Amy.
Evers' family is hoping to get 15,000 signatures before turning the petition into the Parole Board.
