While there are plenty of connections between Super Bowl LVI opponents, the Cincinnati Bengals and Los Angeles Rams – from head coaches Zac Taylor and Sean McVay's friendship, to former Bengal Andrew Whitworth suiting up for the Rams – there will be a name familiar to Cincinnati fans on the Los Angeles sideline.
Chris Shula, the son of former Bengals head coach Dave Shula, coaches linebackers. Chris, who played in college with McVay at Miami University has been on the Rams' staff for five seasons. He was assistant linebackers coach from 2017-18, outside linebackers coach from 2019-20 and took over as linebackers coach this season.
Before joining the Rams, he was an assistant for the San Diego Chargers after coaching in college at John Carroll, Indiana and Ball State.

His father, Dave, coached the Bengals from 1992-96, compiling a 19-52 record before being fired after starting 1996 1-6. He was out of coaching until 1998 when he was hired as wide receivers coach at Dartmouth, a position he still holds.
In addition to his father, Chris' uncle, Mike Shula, is the former head football coach at the University of Alabama and is currently the quarterbacks coach for the Denver Broncos.
Chris' grandfather, Dave and Mike's father, is the legendary Don Shula. Don won two Super Bowls and 328 games as head coach of the Baltimore Colts and Miami Dolphins.
