LINCOLN HEIGHTS, Ohio (WKRC) – Nine people were shot in less than 24 hours in greater Cincinnati including two teenagers in Lincoln Heights.
17-year-old Dante Harrington died after being shot in the chest outside his grandmother’s home on Adams St. on Friday night.
As deputies with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office were on scene, just around the corner, 18-year-old Jaylin Hardy was shot in the back. It’s unclear if the two shootings are connected.
Saturday night, close to a hundred people came to Adams St. to pray and grieve the loss of Harrington.
“He just turned 17, he was amazing young man, he was thoughtful, he was funny,” said Harrington’s aunt, Lovey Scott.
Scott says her nephew was going to graduate high school later this year and was preparing for big things, as he wanted to do something great with his life.
“I'm just asking that everybody put the guns down. Love on each other. Stop killing each other, we got to stop killing each other. Our kids are dying before we die, I can't continue to be like this,” said Scott.
Scott says the family appreciates the support, but needs financial help to bury Dante.
“Our family is strong and we going to make it through this,” said Scott. “But no one should have to feel this pain. No family should have to go through this.”
No suspect information has been released, investigators are looking for a black car.
