Memorial held for former CEO, president of SPCA Cincinnati

CINCINNATI (WKRC) - A memorial service was held in honor of the former president and CEO of SPCA Cincinnati, who is known for having helped placed around 200,000 animals into homes throughout his career.

Our dear friend Harold Dates was remembered at the service at Spring Grove Cemetery Tuesday. Hundreds were also at a memorial for Dates Monday at the Sharonville Convention Center.

In the early '90s, Dates partnered with Local 12 to bring viewers segments with animals, hoping to find them homes. Dates also started the Adopt-a-Pet-a-Thon, an annual fundraiser for the SPCA.

Dates passed away on June 29 at the age of 73.
