AS. WE LOOK TOWARDS THE SOUTH, ANOTHER BATCH OF HEAVIER RAIN JUST RACED THROUGH THE GUSTO WITH SOME HEAVIER THE DOWNPOURS, THUNDER AND LIGHTNING AND NOW FOCUSED FROM RIPLEY TO MAYSVILLE. WE WILL KEEP A CLOSE EYE ON THINGS FOR YOU HERE ON WLWT THIS MORNING. HAPPENING NOW, A LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL IS INCREASING SECURITY AFTER FINDING AMMUNITION JUST OUTSIDE OF THE SCHOOL. STEVEN: ROSS HIGH SCHOOL MADE THE ANNOUNCEMENT LAST NIGHT, SAYING THEY WILL BE TAKING EXTRA PRECAUTIONS TODAY. THEY FOUND UNSPENT ROUNDS OF 22 CALIBER AMMUNITION OFTEN USED FOR TARGET PRACTICE OR RECREATIONAL SHOOTING THEY WILL -- SHOOTING. THE SCHOOL SAID THERE MAY BE A PERFECTLY REASONABLE EXPLANATION FOR WHY THE ROUNDS WERE THERE. OFFICIALS ARE TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHERE THAT AMMO CAME FROM BUT THEY SAY IT MAY BE THE RESULT OF AN OUTSIDE GROUP OR ORGANIZATION. IN THEIR LETTER TO PARENTS, SCHOOL OFFICIALS WROTE, "OUR CAMPUSES ARE OFTEN RENTED BY OUTSIDE GROUPS AND ORGANIZATIONS ON THE WEEKEND." THEY ADDED THEY ARE WORKING WITH THE ROSS TOWNSHIP POLICE DEPARTMENT TO FIGURE OUT WHERE EXACTLY THEY CAME FROM. SCHOOL OFFICIALS HAVE CALLED AN EXTRA SECURITY FOR CAMPUS AND THEY ARE PREPARED TO KEEP STUDENTS SAFE IF THERE IS A THREAT. ANYONE WITH QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS IS ENCOURAGED TO CONTACT THE DISTRICT OR ROSS TOWNSHIP POLICE. KELLY: THIS MORNING, POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING AFTER A U.C. STUDENT SAYS THEY WERE ROBBED THIS WEEK. IT HAPPENED MONDAY NIGHT ON WEST MCMILLAN. THE STUDENT SAYS THEY WERE ATTACKED BY 4 SUSPECTS, WHO STOLE THEIR KEYS AND CAR. POLICE SAY THEY ARRESTED TWO SUSPECTS BUT HAVE NOT IDENTIFIED THEM TO US. THE VICTIM’S KEYS AND CAR WAS FOUND. POLICE ARE ASKING ANYONE WITH INFORMATION TO CONTACT THEM. STEVEN: A NEW PETITION TO LIGHT UP A BUSY INDIANA ROAD IS ATTRACTING MORE ATTENTION AFTER A COLLEGE STUDENT WAS HIT AND KILLED RECENTLY. 19-YEAR-OLD LEE THOMAS WAS PUSHING HIS CAR WHEN IT RAN OUT OF GAS ON U.S. 50 IN GREENDALE LAST WEEK. HE TRIED TO PUSH IT OFF THE ROAD BUT WAS HIT AND KILLED IN THE PROCESS.
