The Reds fall 1/2 game behind the Padres in the wild-card standings

The Cincinnati Reds lost their 1/2-game lead over the San Diego Padres in the National League wild-card standings with Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Detroit Tigers on Sunday at Great American Ball Park, and fell 1/2 game behind the Padres when San Diego won on a Jake Cronenworth walk-off home run against the Houston Astros.

The Reds have 24 games remaining in the 2021 Major League Baseball season, while the Padres have 25.

The Reds are 73-65 entering Monday's three-game series against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. The Padres are 73-64. They're off Monday before starting a two-game series against the Angels in San Diego.

The Philadelphia Phillies trail the Padres by 2 1/2 games after Sunday's win against the Miami Marlins. The St. Louis Cardinals trail the Padres by 3 games in the standings after their loss Sunday to the Brewers in Milwaukee.
