The Cincinnati Reds' lead over the San Diego Padres in the National League wild-card standings is down to 1/2 game - with 29 games remaining for the Reds in the 2021 Major League Baseball season and 30 left for the Padres.

The Reds lost 3-1 to the St. Louis Cardinals - now 2 1/2 games behind Cincinnati in the wild-card standings - on Monday night. The Padres beat the Diamondbacks 7-5 in Arizona.

The Reds are 71-62 entering Tuesday's game against the Cardinals at Great American Ball Park. The Padres are 70-62 entering the second game of their three-game series with the D'backs.
