St. Lawrence Bakery, Cincinnati staple of 120 years, closes its doors

St. Lawrence Bakery, a Cincinnati staple of 120 years, is closing its doors. First opened in 1901, the popular bakery — located in the 3700 block of Saint Lawrence Avenue in East Price Hill — posted a sign in its window, indicating it will close shop after more than a century of business. "Due to landlord electrical issues, we have been forced to close our doors," that sign said. "We thank our customers for your loyalty, friendship and keeping us in business for 120 years."Calls to the bakery went unanswered Monday, and owners did not elaborate on the sudden closure. The family-owned, old-fashioned bakery was a favorite among generations of west siders, known for everything from its cookies, jelly rolls, doughnuts, coffee cakes and breads.
