RIGHT NOW - THE UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA - IS IN MOURNING. JUST A FEW HOURS AFTER THE GEORGIA BULLDOGS CELEBRATED THEIR NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP WIN WITH A PARADE IN ATHENS - OFFENSIVE LINEMAN DEVIN WILLOCK AND RECRUITING STAFFER CHANDLER LECROY - WERE KILLED IN A CAR CRASH. AS BULLDOG NATION GRIEVES, ONE FAN AND HIS GRANDSON ARE SHARING THE INTERACTION THEY HAD WITH WILLOCK - HOURS BEFORE THE WRECK. AS OUR ANDY COLE REPORTS -- IT'S AN ENCOUNTER THAT HAS CHANGED LIVES. AFTER ATTENDING THE CHAMPIONSHIP CELEBRATION FOR GEORGIA'S BACK- TO-BACK NATIONAL TITLES SATURDAY IN ATHENS... <> "CAMDYN STARTED TO GET A LITTLE HANGRY, AND WE WERE LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO KINDA STOP." SAM KRAMER AND HIS SEVEN-YEAR- OLD GRANDSON CAMDYN STOPPED TO EAT BEFORE HEADING HOME TO CARTERSVILLE. <> "ACTUALLY HAD JUST SAT DOWN TO GET READY TO ORDER AND WE NOTICED KIND OF A COMMOTION, BUT WE NOTICED SOME FOLKS THAT HAD STARTED TO GATHER ON THE LEFT SIDE WHERE WE WERE SITTING.//AS SOON AS I TURNED MY HEAD AND LOOKED, I SAW WHO IT WAS." IT WAS REDSHIRT SOPHOMORE DEVIN WILLOCK. AND AS A LIFELONG GEORGIA FAN... KRAMER KNEW HE HAD TO SAY HI. <> "I JUST KINDA GAVE HIM KIND OF A FIST BUMP. I SAID "HEY DEVIN, CONGRATS WITH EVERYTHING THAT'S GOING ON." HE TURNED AND SAW CAMDYN SITTING THERE AND CAMDYN WAS KINDA WIDE-EYE LOOKING AT HIM." AFTER CHATTING FOR A BIT... KRAMER SAID IT WAS HARD FOR CAMDYN NOT TO NOTICE HIS CHAMPIONSHIP RING. <> I REMEMBER I JUST TOLD CAMDYN 'HEY, YOU'VE GOT ONE. BUT HE'S GOT THE REAL DEAL,' AND SO DEVIN, WITHOUT EVEN STOPPING OR FLINCHING, TOOK THE RING OFF AND GAVE IT TO CAMDYN AND SAID, 'I'D LOVE TO SEE WHAT YOU LOOK LIKE IN THE RING.' KRAMER SAID THE MINUTES-LONG MEETING FELT LIKE HOURS TO CAMDYN. <> "WHAT REALLY STRUCK ME WAS JUST THE WAY THAT HE EMBRACED BEING WITH CAMDYN." HE SNAPPED A FEW PICS OF THE ENCOUNTER AND POSTED THEM TO TWITTER. WILLOCK SAW IT AND RETWEETED IT WITH THREE RED HEARTS - HIS FINAL TWEET. THEN, HOURS LATER, TRAGEDY. ATHENS-CLARKE COUNTY POLICE SAY IT WAS JUST BEFORE 3 A.M. SUNDAY THAT THE SUV HE WAS A PASSENGER IN SLAMMED INTO TWO POWER POLES AND TREES BEFORE CRASHING INTO AN APARTMENT. THAT ACCIDENT KILLED WILLOCK AND THE DRIVER -- FOOTBALL STAFFER CHANDLER LECROY. THE ATHENS BANNER- HERALD REPORTS STAR OFFENSIVE TACKLE WARREN MCCLENDON WAS ALSO IN THE CAR. HE HAS MINOR INJURIES WHILE ANOTHER PASSENGER IS IN SERIOUS CONDITION. <> REPORTER: "IF YOU HAD TO TALK TO DEVIN'S FAMILY RIGHT NOW, WHAT WOULD YOU SAY?" KRAMER: "MY HEART IS BROKEN FOR THEM.//I JUST WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT YOU RAISED AN OUTSTANDING YOUNG MAN AND HE WILL BE MISSED." A CHANCE ENCOUNTER THAT WON'T SOON BE FORGOTTEN. ANDY COLE. WJCL 22 NEW

As The University of Georgia community mourns the loss of a player and staffer killed in an early morning car crash, one fan and his grandson are grateful to have had one of the last interactions with redshirt sophomore Devin Willock. After attending the championship celebration for Georgia's back-to-back national titles Saturday in Athens, Sam Kramer and his 7-year-old grandson Camdyn stopped to eat before heading home to Cartersville."Actually, had just sat down to get ready to order and we noticed kind of a commotion, but we noticed some folks that had started to gather on the left side where we were sitting. As soon as I turned my head and looked, I saw who it was," Kramer told sister station WJCL.It was Willock. And as a lifelong Georgia fan, Kramer knew he had to say hi."I just kinda gave him kind of a fist bump. I said, 'Hey Devin, congrats with everything that's going on.' He turned and saw Camdyn sitting there, and Camdyn was kinda wide-eyed looking at him."After chatting for a bit, Kramer said it was hard for Camdyn not to notice his championship ring. "I remember I just told Camdyn, 'Hey, you've got one. But he's got the real deal.' And so Devin, without even stopping or flinching, took the ring off and gave it to Camdyn and said, 'I'd love to see what you look like in the ring,'" Kramer said.He snapped a few pics of the encounter and posted them to Twitter. Willock saw it and retweeted it with three red hearts – his final tweet. Then, hours later, tragedy struck.Athens-Clarke County Police said it was just before 3 a.m. Sunday that the SUV he was a passenger in slammed into two power poles and trees before crashing into an apartment. That accident killed Willock and the driver, football staffer Chandler LeCroy. The Athens Banner-Herald reports star offensive tackle Warren McClendon was also in the car. He has minor injuries while another passenger is in serious condition. "My heart is broken for them," Kramer said of Willock's family. "I just want you to know that you raised an outstanding young man and he will be missed."

Warning: The above video has footage that may be upsetting to some viewers.Sept. 11, 2001, was a sunny day in New York City.Randal Robinson, of Savannah, Georgia, had just arrived for a morning U.S. Customs Service seminar, being held on the fourth floor of Six World Trade Center. One of the buildings that would soon be gone. "And then when the thing hit...Boom. One of the New Yorkers said, 'Oh we don't have earthquakes in New York very often.' And then.... Boom boom rumble rumble.... Dragging scraping sound.Oh... somebody's moving furniture. And we thought.... 'Naah.'Then somebody stuck their head in the door and shouted, 'Everybody out....now! Do not go down the elevator. Come down the steps and follow me.'" Robinson remembers it all like it was yesterday. How they all dashed down the stairs to the street below. He looked up and saw the smoke. Somebody said a corporate jet must have struck the building. He couldn't figure out how the pilot could have done it. "Well heck, it had to be a heart attack or a stroke," he said. "It was beautiful weather. You couldn't miss seeing it. So I said, 'Well, hopefully, they'll get the fire put out soon.' So I pulled out my camera and started taking the pictures." He snapped about a dozen images before realizing just what he was witnessing. "So then when I ran out of film," he said, "I put in another roll of film and started to take more pictures and then someone said, 'Oh my gosh, people are jumping out.' So I said no more pictures." He thought the firefighters would put it out. But they had no chance. "In a few minutes, someone said 'Oh my god, here comes another one.' This other jetliner was coming down the river. Banked hard left. Came over our heads, engines screaming and hit Two World Trade Center." He finally made it back to his hotel room and watched on TV with the other guests as the towers fell, including the building he had evacuated. "...Thank the Lord we all got out safely."

A teen girl died Saturday after getting struck by lightning at a Georgia beach.Witnesses saw the incident, which happened at Tybee Island on Saturday afternoon."It was scary. I will never say the odds of getting struck by lighting is slim," said Dylan Pope, who was at Tybee Island near 17th Street when he heard a big boom. “We saw one big bolt. Nobody knew someone got hit,” Pope said.A 15-year-old girl visiting from Alabama was struck by lightning. She died from her injuries, officials said. "People were either in a panic, they were running off the beach, two people ran down to try and give her CPR," Pope said. Barabara Loyd was also visiting Tybee Island when the lighting struck."It shook the beach ground,” Loyd said the thunderstorm came out of nowhere "There was no sign, I didn’t even get a notification from my weather app.”Brandi Sheridan is another witness who saw the lightning strike and she said, "It was horrible to see. The lightning bolt seemed to come out of nowhere. We were all leaving the beach. This was truly just a freak occurrence. We spoke to a lifeguard who said he’s been a lifeguard on this beach for over five years and in that time no one has been struck by lightning. My heart breaks for them."According to the National Weather Service, lightning killed an average of 27 people each year between 2009 and 2018.
