SHEREE: I THINK KINGS ISLAND IS TRYING TO BE PROACTIVE. THAT IS JUST THE WEATHER WE WILL BE FACING AT THE END OF THIS WEEK. KEVIN: I THINK IT IS APPROPRIATE TO CANCEL WINTERFEST IN THIS CASE. WE ARE TALKING WHEN CHILLS THAT ARE 20 AND 30° BELOW ZERO. IT HAS BEEN A LONG TIME SINCE IT HAS BEEN THAT COLD. WHEN CHILLS WILL STAY BELOW ZERO THROUGH CHRISTMAS AFTERNOON. LIFE-THREATENING COLD WILL BE OF ALONG DURATION. LET’S BREAK DOWN THE STORM. WE HAVE THE POTENTIAL FOR POWER OUTAGES TOO, WITH GUSTS THAT CAN GET UP TO 50 AT TIMES. WHEN YOU HAVE TEMPERATURES A FEW DEGREES ABOVE ZERO, IT IS EASY TO GET WIND CHILLS THAT ARE GREATER THAN 20° BELOW ZERO WHEN YOU ARE TALKING WIND SPEEDS OF THIS MAGNITUDE. THE OTHER WORRY CONTINUES TO BE THAT THIS -- DISRUPTION TO TRAVEL AS WELL. THE BIGGER PROBLEM IS, DO NOT EXPECT BIG IMPROVEMENTS DURING THE DAY ON FRIDAY, BECAUSE OUR TEMPERATURES WILL BE BETWEEN ZERO AND FIVE ABOVE. ROAD TREATMENT IS LESS EFFECTIVE WHEN YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT TEMPERATURES THAT COLD. THE IMPACTS WILL BE HIGH ON FRIDAY EVEN THOUGH THE WORST OF THE WEATHER IS LIKELY TO MOVE IN WHILE WE GO TO BED THURSDAY NIGHT AND THE SNOW WILL BE OVER BY THE TIME YOU WAKE UP ON FRIDAY, BUT THE EFFECTS WILL LINGER THROUGH THE DAY. ON THURSDAY, A LITTLE RAIN AND WIND. THE WEATHER IS ESSENTIALLY QUIET UP UNTIL THURSDAY. WE WILL HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAY TOMORROW. SHOWERS THURSDAY MORNING. THURSDAY EVENING, IT IS STILL RAINING. WE WILL LIKELY BE IN THE MID 40’S. A STRONG COLD FRONT COMES THROUGH BY 10:00 P.M. A QUICK TRANSITION OVER TO SNOW AND HERE IS THE PROBLEM. BY MIDNIGHT, TEMPERATURES ARE CRASHING TO THE TEENS AND SINGLE DIGITS. I THINK OVERNIGHT THURSDAY INTO FRIDAY, IT WILL BE IMPRESSIVE WITH THE SNOW AND WIND. IT WILL GET NASTY PRETTY QUICKLY. THE SNOW WAS GONE BY THE TIME YOU WAKE UP FRIDAY MORNING. RIGHT NOW, SNOWFALL AMOUNTS IN THE 1-3 INCH RANGE, WITH SOME AREAS POSSIBLY SEEING AS MUCH AS FOUR. LOOK AT THESE WIND CHILLS AT 7:00 FRIDAY MORNING. TEMPERATURES 25-30 DEGREES BELOW ZERO. THAT IS DANGEROUS COLD. IT MAKES 33 FEEL WARM. TEMPERATURES IN THE 20’S IN THE SUBURBS IN MOST LOCATIONS. A NICE WARM UP TOMORROW AS WE GET CLOSE TO 50 BY AFTERNOON. 48 FOR A HIGH. HERE IS A LOOK AT YOUR DAY PLANNER, PRETTY NICE FROM START TO FINISH AROUND THE AREA. HOPEFULLY YOU ARE TRAVELING TOMORROW VERSUS THURSDAY NIGHT INTO FRIDAY. 40° ON THURSDAY. -- 48 DEGREES ON THURSDAY. THIS LOOKS TO BE A VERY IMPACTFUL WINTER STORM.

THE LAST COUPLE DAYS KEVIN HAS BEEN TALKING ABOUT WHAT TO EXPECT TONIGHT. LAST NIGHT YOU MENTIONED IT COULD BE 60-70 MILES EITHER WAY. DID IT FALL THE WAY YOU THOUGHT? KEVIN: DESPITE THE TORNADO IN HIGHLAND COUNTY, WE’VE GOT LUCKY. THE INSTABILITY DIDN’T BUILD. IT RAINED ALL DAY LONG, THAT WAS THE SAVING GRACE. WE HAD WAY TOO MUCH RAIN TODAY. BUT TO THAT KEPT TO THE INSTABILITY DOWN. YOU SAW WHAT HAPPENED IN HIGHLAND COUNTY. SHOCKED WE WERE EVEN ABLE TO GET A TORNADO, GIVEN CONDITIONS WERE SO COOL THIS AFTERNOON. YOU CAN ONLY IMAGINE IF WE HAD BEEN ABOUT 10 DEGREES WARMER, IT WOULD’VE BEEN A WHOLE DIFFERENT BALLGAME. WE CAME THROUGH THIS RELATIVELY UNSCATHED ASIDE FROM ALL THE POWER OUTAGES. HERE IS MORE VIDEO OF THE TORNADO OUT THERE IN HIGHLAND COUNTY. YOU CAN SEE THE VERY THIN FUNNEL. THIS IS PART OF THE REASON WHY WHAT WE WILL FIND OUT IN THE END, THIS WAS A RELATIVELY WEAK TORNADO. PROBABLY AN EF ZERO OR EF1. IT’S IMPRESSIVE TO SEE THE SPINNING MOTION IN THE ATMOSPHERE. ALL WE NEEDED WERE ACTUAL STORMS . HAD WE HAD THE INSTABILITY, THE JUICE TO SUPPORT MORE ROBUST THUNDERSTORMS, THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT SCENARIO. BUT IT RAINED ALL DAY, IT KEPT THINGS COOL. YOU CAN SEE THE TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF TURNING MOTION IN THE ATMOSPHERE. WE JUST DIDN’T GET ENOUGH STORMS TO TAP INTO THAT. THE GOOD NEWS, THINGS ARE QUIET FROM HERE ON OUT THROUGH THE REST OF YOUR UPCOMING WEEKEND. THE WIND GUSTS ARE COMING DOWN. MOST OF THEM ARE UNDER 30 MILES PER HOUR. THE ONLY ONE THAT IS HIGH IS NEAR WILMINGTON. EVEN THERE, THE WINDS ARE BEGINNING TO SUBSIDE. MOST GUSTS ARE UNDER 30. LESS PROBLEMATIC, DUKE CAN GET OUT THERE AND RESTORE THE POWER AROUND THE AREA. NEAR HURRICANE FORCE WIND GUSTS THIS AFTERNOON. MAYSVILLE GUSTING TO 71. ALMOST 70 IN WILMINGTON AND OWENTON. WHAT WAS MOST IMPRESSIVE IS THE FACT THAT THE MAJORITY OF THESE HIGH WINDS, MOST OF THE ISSUES FROM THE WINDS CAME AFTER OUR THREAT FOR SEVERE WEATHER ENDED. HOW MUCH RAIN HAS FALLEN? EASILY OVER TWO INCHES, CLOSE TO THREE IN THE HAMILTON AREA. WE HAD MAYBE MORE RAIN THAN WE WANTED OUT THERE. THIS RAIN WAS THE SAVING GRACE. THE RADAR IS QUIET, A FEW SPOTTY SHOWERS ACROSS PARTS OF HIGHLAND COUNTY IN THE DIRECTION OF MOUNT OR -- WE ARE DONE WITH THE RAINFALL. YOU CAN SEE THE SPIN OF THIS STORM CENTER AS IT CRUISED RIGHT ACROSS THE OHIO VALLEY. OVER A 200 MILE SPAN, WE WENT FROM HEAVY SNOW, NORTH OF INDIANAPOLIS, TO TORNADOES NEAR OHIO RIVER. THAT SPEAKS TO HOW INTENSE THIS STORM CENTER WAS AS IT SPUN ITS WAY THROUGH THE AREA. WE HAD A NEW RECORD LOW PRESSURE SETTING IN LOUISVILLE. VERY INTENSE STORM, THAT’S WHY THE WINDS HAVE BEEN SO HIGH. AS THE STORM PULLS AWAY, THE WINDS WILL DROP. BY THE TIME YOU WAKE UP, MOST OF THESE WINDS WILL BE WAY DOWN AND WE WILL HAVE SUBSIDED. OUTSIDE NOW, IT IS WINDY AND COLD, WE ARE AT 37 IN CINCINNATI. IT FEELS LIKE IT’S IN THE MID 20’S WITH THE WINDS. THE COLDER AIR IS SPILLING INTO THE TRI-STATE ON THE BACKSIDE OF THE STORM AS IT HEADS UP TOWARDS CLEVELAND. TEMPERATURES ARE DROPPING INTO THE 30’S. SKIES WILL BE CLOUDY THROUGH THE NIGHT, WE WILL START WITH CLOUDS TOMORROW BEFORE SUNSHINE. IT’S A BEAUTIFUL WEEKEND, A NICE WARM UP. ENJOY THIS WEEKEND, THERE ARE SIGNS THAT OUR WEEKENDS MIGHT NOT BE QUITE AS ENJOYABLE. I THINK WE ARE GOING BACK TO WINTER. TOMORROW MORNING CLOUDS, THEN SUNNY AND NICE, 53. HERE’S A LOOK AT YOUR DAY PLANNER. IN THE 50’S TOMORROW, AFTER A LITTLE BIT OF A CHILLY START. HERE IS YOUR SEVEN-DAY FORECAST. LET’S ENJOY THE MILD, QUIET WEATHER THE REST OF THIS WEEK. ALL OF US THAT WERE EXCITED ABOUT SPRING, MAYBE NOT GETTING SO EXCITED ANYMORE. I SEE SIGNS OF WINTER AND REAL COLD. OLDER THAN IT WAS IN FEBRUARY. -- COLDER THAN IT WAS I

EVEN TALK ABOUT THAT SECOND PART . KEVIN TALKING ABOUT THIS WEEKEND WEATHER, COMING IN RAIN, TRANSITIONING INTO ICE AND EVENTUALLY SNOW. KEVIN: WE GOT SOME INTERESTING WEATHER. IT WILL BE INTERESTING TO SEE HOW THINGS PLAY OUT BECAUSE THERE’S SO MANY LITTLE NUANCES. FOR EXAMPLE, JUST THE SLIGHTEST SHIFT IN 50 TO 75 MILES COULD CHANGE THE FORECAST A DEGREE HERE, A DEGREE THERE, BUT CHECK THIS IMAGE OUT -- THIS IS DOWNTOWN CINCINNATI. I KNOW YOU CANNOT SEE BECAUSE IT IS OBSCURED BY CLOUDS, BUT WHY IS IT LOOKING LIKE THAT? WE’VE GOT THAT ARCTIC FRONT RIGHT ON TOP OF US AS WE SPEAK, DAN YOU CAN SEE IT REFLECTED IN THE TEMPERATURES. MASON HAS BEEN STEADILY DROPPING, SO THE FRONT BASICLYAL BISECTS HAMILTON COUNTY RIGHT NOW, AND AS SOON AS IT CROSSES, TEMPERATURES DROP ABOUT 10 DEGRSEE JT USLIKE THAT. YOU ARE AHEAD OF THE FRONT TO THE EAST. LOOK AT BATAAVI AT 46. HAMILTON, HARRISON, YOU ARE CLEARLY BEHIND THE FRONT, AND IT DROPS BELOW FREEZING UP TOWARDS OXFORD, BROOKVILLE, AND OUT TOWARDS BASSFORD, SO THE COLDER AIR IS ON THE MOVE. THOSE CLOUDS WILL BE GONE IN THE NEXT HALF AN HOUR AS THE FRONT CLEARS AND THAT COLDER AIR MOVES IN. WE HAVE HAD RAIN ALL EVENING ACROSS THE AREA. THAT WILL CONTINUE. ALTHOUGH THE TRANSITION IS TAKING PLACE AS TEMPERATURES ARE DROPPING BELOW FREEZING, BUT BEFOREOU YET G OVERLY CONCERNED, THERE’S GOING TO BE A LET IN THE STEADY RAIN OVERNIGHT TONIGHT, SO THAT’S ANOTHER REASON WHY I THINK THERE WILL BE A LITTLE BIT AOF LOW -- A LITTLE BIT OF A LLLU IN THE DETERIORATION OF ROADS. I ALWSAYAY S WATCH YOUR BRIDGES, THOUGH. THEY ALWAYS ICE UP FIRST, BUT I THINK THE MNAI ROADS ARE OK FOR THE MAJORITY OF THE NIGHT. THE REST OF THE RADAR SHOWS RAIN ACROSS KENCKTUY. RAIN THROUGH OUR EASTERN COMMUNITSIE FROM WEST UNION UP TOWARD WILMINGTON. WE WILL COINNTUE TO WATCH THE TRANSITION FROM RAIN OVER TO FREEZING RAIN AS WE GO THROUGH THE REMAINDER OF THE NIGHT TONIGHT. AS THOSE TEMPERATURES FALL, AGAIN, IT LOOKS LIKE FREEZING RAIN AND HEAVY SLEET TORROWOM IN AND AROUND THE METRO ABOUT A QUARTER OF AN INCH OF ICE. THAT IS ENOUGH TO CREA ATE FEW SPOTTY POWER OUTAGES, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU FACTOR IN THE WIND, BUT I THINK THE MORE DAMINAGG ICE IS JUST TO THE SOUTHND A EAST OF US HERE IN CINCINNATI, SO WE ARE DODGING A LITTLE BIT OF A BULLET WITH THA T.SLEET TO HAVE THE GREATEST PAIMCT AROUND HERE. THE 275 LOOP, THE I-75 CORRIDOR. IN FACT, I THINK IT REALLY CUTS INTO YOUR SNOWFALLOTAL TS. AGAIN, THE WIND WILL BE AN ISSUE WITH ANY ICEN O TREES, AND THAT COULD, OF COURSE, MAKE THE SITUATION WITH POWER A LITTLE MORE CRITICAL OUT THERE, ESPECIALLY AS YOU GET INTO THIS EAAR IN PINK. THIS IS WHERE YOU WILL HAVE DAMAGING ICE, I THINK, FROM PASRT OF ROWAN COUNTY, MAYBE INTO THE SOUTHERN PARTS OF HIGHLAND COUNTY. PEOPLES, GEORGETOWN, MAYSVILLE, BE ON THE LOOKOUT. THE GREATER PART OF THE TRI-STATE,HE T HEART OF THE TRI-STATE, ONE TO THREE INCHES OF SNOW, A QUARTER INCH OF ICE, AND A LOT OF SLEET. THAT’S WHY I TNKHI WE HAVE CUT DOWN ON THESE SNOWFALL TOTALS FOR THE METRO. FARTHER NORTH AND WEST, BROOKVILLE, OXFORD, PARTS OF FRANKLIN, BUTLER COUNTY, COULD SEE HALF A FOOT OF SNOW IN THOSE AREAS. WATCH HOW THE TRANSITION PLAYS OUT. YOU SEE THE BREAK THERE. TOWARDS MORNING, THE FREEZING RAIN BECOMES MORE STEADY AGAIN. AT THIS POINT, TEMPERATURES ARE IN THE UPPER 20’S. I KEEP SAYING I REALLY THINK IT IS MIDMORNING BEFORE CONDITIONS REALLY GO DOWNHILL, BUT WATCH THE BRIDGES FIRST THING IN THE MORNING. BUT THEN IT LOOKS LIKE HEAVY FREEZING RAIN AND SLEET FOR THE BETTER PTAR OF THE AFTERNOON, SOME SNOW IN OUR FAR NORTHWEST, AND THIS AREA IN BLUE WHICH APPEARS TO BE SNOW I STILL THINK WILLE B SLEET. THAT’S THE REASON WHY WE KEEP THOSE SNOWFALL TOTALS DOWN, AND I THINK THE MOST IMPACTFUL SNOWS MAY NOT GET HERE UNTIL LATE TOMORROW AND THEN THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING WITH SOME FAT, FLUFFY FLAKES TTHA COULD PILE UP A QUICK ONE TO THREE INCHES OF SNOW FOR US ON FRIYDA MORNING, LATE THURSDAY NIGHT/FRIDAY MORNING BEFOREE W BEGIN TCLO EAR OUT AND IT TURNS VERY COLD BEHIND THIS STORM. WE ARE DOWN TO 29 BY MORNING WITH RAIN TO FREEZING RAIN. TOMORROW, OBVIOUSLY A WEATHER ALERT DAY. AN ICY MIX OF FREEZING RAINND HEAVY SLEET GOING OVER TO SNOW BY EVENING. AGAIN, PICK ANY PART OF THE DAY, THE WEATHER IS GOING TO BE PRETTY IMPACTFUL TOMORROW, BUT TOMOOWRR NIGHT INTO FRIDAY MORNING, JUST A MESS ON THE ROADS. SEVEN-DAY FORECAST, DOWN TO 18 TOMORROW NIGHT, THEN DOWN TO ONE,

An undersea volcano erupted in spectacular fashion near the Pacific nation of Tonga on Saturday, sending large waves crashing across the shore and people rushing to higher ground. There were no immediate reports of injuries or the extent of the damage as communications with the small nation remained problematic. Video posted to social media showed large waves washing ashore in coastal areas, swirling around homes and buildings.New Zealand's military said it was monitoring the situation and remained on standby, ready to assist if asked.Satellite images showed a huge eruption. The Tonga Meteorological Services said a tsunami warning was in effect for all of Tonga. Authorities in the nearby island nations of Fiji and Samoa also issued warnings, telling people to avoid the shoreline due to strong currents and dangerous waves. The Islands Business news site reported that a convoy of police and military troops evacuated Tonga's King Tupou VI from his palace near the shore. He was among the many residents who headed for higher ground. The explosion of the Hunga Tonga Hunga Ha’apai volcano was the latest in a series of spectacular eruptions.A Twitter user identified as Dr. Faka’iloatonga Taumoefolau posted video showing waves crashing ashore.“Can literally hear the volcano eruption, sounds pretty violent,” he wrote, adding in a later post: “Raining ash and tiny pebbles, darkness blanketing the sky.”Earlier, the Matangi Tonga news site reported that scientists observed massive explosions, thunder and lightning near the volcano after it started erupting early Friday. The site reported that satellite images show a plume of ash 3 miles wide, along with steam and gas rising up into the air to about 12 miles. More than 1,400 miles away in New Zealand, officials were warning of storm surges from the eruption. The National Emergency Management Agency said some parts of New Zealand could expect “strong and unusual currents and unpredictable surges at the shore following a large volcanic eruption.”Late Saturday, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said the threat to American Samoa appeared to have passed, although minor sea fluctuations could continue. The volcano is located about 40 miles north of the capital, Nuku’alofa. Back in late 2014 and early 2015, a series of eruptions in the area created a small new island and disrupted international air travel to the Pacific archipelago for several days.Tonga is home to about 105,000 people.

GOING INTO WHAT WE’RE GOING TO SEE YEAH AND IT’S GOING TO BE A MESSY MESSY WEEKEND OUT THERE GOING INTO YOUR WORK WEEK SO THAT COULD BE A PROBLEM NOT SURE IF THEY HAVE PEOPLE WHO CAN FILL IN THERE OR NOT BECAUSE WE’RE LOOKING AT SEVERAL INCHES AT THE LEAST OVER THE WEEKEND YEAH THIS IS GOING TO BE A THESE SNOWFALL FOR THE TRI-STATE KNOW IF ANDREW BUT ABOUT THAT THIS IS GOING TO BE A BIG SNOWFALL. HOW BIG STILL UP IN THE AIR SO LET’S GET RIGHT ON TO IT A POTENT WINTER STORM LIKELY IN HERE AGAIN TO START UP SUNDAY NIGHT HEADING INTO YOUR NEW WORK WEEK WITH SIGNIFICANT IMPACTS TO TRAVEL AND DISRUPTIONS EXPECTED. SO HERE’S A LOOK AT THE WINTER STORM WATCH AND I KEEP SAYING THIS BECAUSE IT’S UNUSUAL TO GET A WINTER STORM WATCH OUT THIS FAR IN ADVANCE, BUT I THINK THIS LENDS TO THE CONFIDENCE OF THE FACT THAT WE ARE LOOKING AT AN IMPACTFUL SNOWFALL EVENT. ACROSS THE TRI-STATE SO AN IMPACTFUL WINTER WEATHER EVENT A GOOD BET HERE. SO WE’VE TALKED A LOT ABOUT THIS. THE TIMING IS PRETTY MUCH THE SAME HERE SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH THE DAY ON TUESDAY. WE’RE PRETTY CONFIDENT WITH THAT. IT’S THE PRECEPT TYPE IN THE AMOUNTS WHERE WE BEGIN TO GET A LITTLE LESS CONFIDENT AND STILL I WANT YOU TO KEEP IN MIND THIS STORM. STILL YET TO REACH THE WEST COAST. SO THERE’S A LOT THAT CAN CHANGE BETWEEN NOW AND LET’S SAY SUNDAY. THIS MAP BASICALLY IS TO LEND WHERE OUR CONFIDENCE IS GREATEST. I’M PRETTY SURE THAT WE’RE NOT TALKING ONE TO THREE INCHES THAT’S GOING TO BE WAY TOO LOW. I’M PRETTY SURE WE’RE NOT TALKING THREE TO SIX AT THIS POINT FAIRLY CONFIDENT JUST AS A BASE. WE’RE TALKING ABOUT PROBABLY WIDESPREAD SIX INCH SNOWFALL AMOUNTS ACROSS THE TRI-STATE. I THINK THAT’S A GOOD STARTING POINT. AND THERE’S A 50/50 CHANCE THAT WE GO WELL IN EXCESS OF THAT AGAIN, THE KEY IS IF WE MIX IN A LITTLE SLEEP, WE’RE GOING TO GET THOSE LOWER SNOWFALL TOTALS IF IT STAYS SNOW AND THE STORM TAKES THE RIGHT PATH. THAT’S YOUR 50/50 CHANCE THAT WE GET OVER NINE INCHES OF SNOW AND PARTS OF THE TRI-STATE AND I CERTAINLY THINK THAT’S ON THE TABLE. SO LET’S TALK ABOUT THIS SYSTEM. IT STARTS UP BEFORE SUNRISE AS WE GET INTO MONDAY MORNING. THIS IS LIKELY TO HAVE AN IMPACT ON YOUR MONDAY MORNING COMMUTE. THERE’S NO DOUBT ABOUT IT. EVEN IF IT’S JUST AN INCH OR TWO THAT’S GOING TO BE IMPACTFUL PROBABLY GET A BREAK OR GET A LOW IN THE INTENSITY OF THE SNOW DURING THE DAY ON MONDAY, BUT THEN IT’S MONDAY NIGHT WHEN YOUR SNOW COMES IN HERE AND AGAIN THE KEY IS COULD WE SEE SOME MIX ESPECIALLY IN OUR SOUTH AND EAST COMMUNITIES THAT IS KEY IS TO WHETHER OR NOT THE OVERALL SNOWFALL AMOUNTS HOW FAR WEST DO WE BRING IN THE MIX WITH A LITTLE SLEEP DOES IT STAY FARTHER EAST THAT’S ALL YET TO BE DETERMINED BUT WHEN THINGS WERE SURE THIS ALL MOVES OUT BY TUESDAY AFTERNOON SO HERE WE ARE TONIGHT AT 25 DEGREES IT’S A COLD ONE RIGHT WE’VE GOT A NICE NORTH WIND NO SHORTAGE OF COLD AIR FOR ANYTHING WINTRY THAT’S WHY WE KNOW WHATEVER FALLS ALL BE FROZEN ACROSS THE TRI-STATE TEMPERATURES ARE IN THE MID-20S RIGHT NOW SO OVER THE NEXT FEW HOURS, WE’RE GOING TO FALL FROM THE 20S DOWN INTO THE TEENS HERE TONIGHT UNDERNEATH MOSTLY CLOUDY SKIES. HERE’S A LOOK AT FUTURECAST YOUR SATURDAY’S PRETTY MUCH QUIET. THERE COULD BE A FEW FLURRIES OR SNOW SHOWERS SATURDAY AFTERNOON OR EVENING. NOTHING OF ANY MAJOR CONSEQUENCE AND THEN IT LOOKS QUIET OVERNIGHT SATURDAY QUIET FOR YOUR VALENTINE’S DAY. NO PROBLEMS ON SUNDAY AROUND THE TRI-STATE THE TROUBLE WON’T BEGIN TO ARISE UNTIL PROBABLY AFTER MIDNIGHT ON SUNDAY AND SEE HOW THE SNOW FILLS IN THROUGH THE MONDAY MORNING COMMUTE NOTICE. THE BLUES ARE NOT AS DARK DURING THE DAY ON MONDAY. BUT WATCH WHAT HAPPENS MONDAY NIGHT HERE? WE ARE GOING TOWARDS FIVE SIX HEAVIER SNOW MOVES IN AND IT SNOWS HEAVY THROUGH THE NIGHT MONDAY NIGHT INTO TUESDAY MORNING BEFORE HE BEGINS TO TAPE OFF AND IT’S ALL OVER WITH BY THE TIME WE GET INTO TUESDAY AFTERNOON. SO 19 FOR AN OVERNIGHT LOW TONIGHT PRETTY COLD OUT THERE AND THEN FOR TOMORROW WELL CLOUDY AGAIN, THERE COULD BE A FEW FLURRIES OR SNOW SHOWERS AROUND WE’RE TALKING TEMPERATURES IN THE UPPER 20S CLOSE TO 30. HERE’S A LOOK AT YOUR SEVEN DAY FORECAST. SO WE’VE GOT THE IMPACTFUL WINTER WEATHER EVENT COMING IN HERE ON MONDAY AND TUESDAY AND THEN MIKE AND CHERIE HOLD YOUR HORSES HERE BECAUSE BEFORE WE CAN EVEN GET THIS ONE OUT, THERE’S ANOTHER ONE SO WEDNESDAY MAY OFFER KIND OF A BREAK, BUT THEN THE HOT ON THE HILL, SO THAT IS A POTENTIAL STORM ON THURSDAY AND THAT LOOKS TO BE SIGNIFICANT.

A warning from the top public health official in Ohio said the delta variant has arrived and is spreading. The state needs to prepare.“Delta is on the doorstep,” said Ohio Department of Health chief medical officer Dr. Bruce Vanderhoff. “It will move rapidly through the unvaccinated population.”The concern comes because the number of Ohio COVID cases had been dropping for months then that suddenly changed.“We have seen them not only level off for a few days but actually been an upturn,” Vanderhoff said. The numbers are still low compared to the height of the pandemic, but Vanderhoff said considering what has happened in other parts of the country, people should be prepared.“We see what’s happening in other states. We see the trends happening,” said Ohio State Wexner chief clinical officer Dr. Andrew Thomas. In Springfield, Missouri, the delta variant is being blamed for hospitalizations that increased by 225% in a matter of days.Indiana and Kentucky are seeing increasing numbers of COVID cases too.In Northern Kentucky, the most recent weekly case numbers went from 13 to 65 to 103. Tuesday morning, the overnight total was 64.“Part of the reason we’re here today, is to reinforce with those in our state that have chosen not to get vaccinated, really, they need to rethink their approach,” Thomas said.Even in areas where the delta variant is the dominant virus, Vanderhoff said, more than 97 percent of those hospitalized have not been vaccinated.

Peloton is warning owners to keep their children away from their treadmills after an accident involving its Tread+ in which a child died.CEO John Foley sent a letter to Tread+ owners Thursday, saying the warning comes after a "tragic accident involving a child and the Tread+, resulting in, unthinkably, a death."He didn't reveal details of the fatal accident, but he did note Peloton is "aware of only a small handful of incidents involving the Tread+ where children have been hurt."Overall, exercise equipment as a category can be particularly dangerous for children: 25,000 kids under the age of 10 are injured by exercise equipment each year, according to a 2014 study from the U.S. National Institutes of Health. In 2019, the Consumer Product Safety Commission estimates U.S. emergency departments treated 2,000 treadmill-related injuries in children under 8.Peloton said in a statement to CNN Business that there are "no words to express the shock and sadness everyone at Peloton feels as a result of this terrible tragedy." The company won't be disclosing any additional information about the incident "out of respect for the family and privacy."Recommendations to help kids stay safe"We design and build all of our products with safety in mind," Foley wrote. "But in order to help ensure that you and your family members stay safe with Peloton products in your home, we need your help."Foley said Peloton recommends its customers keep children and pets away from equipment at all times. Before a workout, they should ensure the area is completely clear — and once they're done, they should remove the treadmill's safety key (required to be inserted for the machine to work) and store it out of reach.NIH similarly recommends positioning treadmills to face the doorway, or using a mirror to improve visibility, if children are present in the household.People of all ages are more likely to injure themselves on treadmills than any other kind of exercise equipment, the NIH study found. Americans report 46,000 treadmill-related injuries each year — more than four times the number of stationary bike accidents, the next-most dangerous kind of exercise equipment.Treadmills comprise two-thirds of exercise equipment injuries, even though they represent just a quarter of exercise machines, NIH said. The group did not break out how many children are injured specifically by treadmills.Peloton's Tread+, which costs $4,295, features carbon steel and aluminum as well as a motorized belt for walking or running. The company recently revealed a lower-priced treadmill for $2,495 that's expected to ship in late May. Both have large screens to stream Peloton classes.

VACCINE SINCE THAT PAUSE? ALL RIGHT. SO BEHIND US HERE IS KEVIN AND THAT CAMERA OVER THE CITY. IT LOOKS LIKE DOG, BUT IT’S ACTUALLY SNOW YEAH AND SOMETHING YOU DON’T TALK ABOUT TOO OFTEN, ESPECIALLY IN MID-APRIL, ESPECIALLY REDUCING VISIBILITIES LIKE IT WAS ABOUT 15 TO 20 MINUTES AGO. NOW, OBVIOUSLY THE SNOW IS LETTING UP WITH ITS INITIAL BATCH, BUT THERE IS YET MORE SNOW TO COME. SO TYPICALLY I’D START WITH RADAR WITH SOMETHING TO SHOW YOU ON IT, BUT HOW CAN YOU PASS UP OPPORTUNITY TO SHOW A SNOWY SKYLINE SHOT FROM KAROO TOWER IN APRIL OF ALL THINGS, RIGHT? SO THAT’S HOW IT LOOKS OUTSIDE RIGHT NOW OFFICIALLY AT THE AIRPORT. WE’RE DOWN TO FOUR DEGREES. WE’VE GOT A NICE NORTH WIND OUT THERE SO THAT REALLY CUTS THROUGH YOU IF YOU’VE BEEN OUT THIS EVENING, YOU KNOW, IT’S CHILLY. SO LET ME BREAK DOWN. WHAT’S HAPPENING HERE TONIGHT. WE’VE GOT THE INITIAL BATCH OF SNOW SLEET AND RAIN THAT KIND OF HELPED TO GET THE ATMOSPHERE COOLED OFF ENOUGH AND THEN WE’VE ACTUALLY GOT THE REAL DEAL NOW FINALLY BEGINNING TO PIVOT ITS WAY IN ACROSS SOUTHEAST, INDIANA. SO THERE’S TWO PARTS HERE TO BREAK DOWN THE FIRST THE BACK EDGE OF THE SNOW. THIS IS WHY I VISIBILITIES ARE IMPROVING OVER DOWNTOWN AND CLOSE TO GREAT AMERICAN BALLPARK BECAUSE CAN SEE THE DARKER BLUES HAVE SHIFTED THEIR WAY INTO THE EASTERN PARTS OF HAMILTON COUNTY BACK INTO WESTERN, CLERMONT. WE’VE GOT SOME DECENT SNOW COMING DOWN AND COULD QUICKLY PUT DOWN A QUICK COATING OR KIND OF A LIGHT DUSTING IN SOME OF THE GRASSY AREAS. BUT FROM MILFORD TO BLUE ASH BACK TOWARDS NEWTOWN OUT TOWARDS BATAVIA GOSHEN MOUNT REPOSE AS WELL ABOUT REPOS UP TO LOVELAND MAINEVILLE. THERE’S SNOW FLYING MASON, DEERFIELD TOWNSHIP ON UP THROUGH MORROW LEBANON OR AGONIA OVER TOWARDS CLARKSVILLE. THERE’S ALL KIND OF SNOW AND LITTLE SLEET MIXING IN OCCASIONALLY A LITTLE RAIN STILL IN THE EASTERN PARTS OF CLINTON. MONEY THERE FROM SABINA DOWN TOWARDS LEE’S CREEK AND MARTINSVILLE, THEN WE CROSS BACK ACROSS THE OHIO RIVER AND THE NORTHERN KENTUCKY AND HERE IT BREAKS UP SOME BUT IT’S A LITTLE BIT OF A SNOW SLEET MIX OCCASIONALLY. WE DID HAVE SNOW REPORTED OFFICIALLY AT THE AIRPORT. HERE’S WHAT’S GOING TO HAPPEN OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL HOURS. HERE’S KIND OF THIS INITIAL WAVE BUT NOTICE THERE’S THIS BAND AND IN THIS YOU DO SEE SOME DARKER BLUE SO SOME IMPRESSIVE SNOW STILL YET THE PIVOT IT’S WAY THROUGH SO BETWEEN NOW AND LET’S SAY THREE OR FOUR AM. MIGHT BE OCCASIONAL BOUTS OF IMPRESSIVE SNOW FLYING ACROSS THE AREA ESPECIALLY DRIVEN BY THE WIND SO IT LOOKS LIKE ABOUT FOR THE NEXT THREE TO FIVE HOURS. WE’LL HAVE SNOW FLYING. AND PRETTY MUCH A DUSTING TO AN INCH ANY ACCUMULATION THAT DOES OCCUR BASICALLY SHOULD BE REALLY CONFINED TO GRASSY AREAS OR ELEVATED SURFACES NOW, I WON’T RULE OUT IN SOME OF THE HEAVIER BURSTS WHERE THE SNOW CAN OVERCOME THE AMBIENT GROUND WARMTH THAT YOU MIGHT GET. VERY QUICK SLUSHY COATING ON THE SIDE STREETS OR EVEN A BRIDGE, BUT I THINK ONCE THAT STOPS YOU’LL STILL GET THE WARMTH FROM THE GROUND TO MELT THAT AWAY SO I DON’T EXPECT ANY TRAVEL PROBLEMS THROUGH THE NIGHT AS THIS IS GOING TO KEEP CRUISING ITS WAY THROUGH SO HERE’S MIDNIGHT WIDESPREAD SNOW GO THROUGH ABOUT 4 AM BY 4 AM. THE SNOW IS WRAPPING UP SO THAT BY THE TIME THE SUN COMES UP IN THE MORNING. THIS IS ALL GONE EXCEPT FOR WHAT’S LEFT OVER ON THE GROUND THEN DURING THE DAY TOMORROW EXPECT MOSTLY CLOUDY SKIES, AND WE’LL PROBABLY HAVE A FEW SHOWERS, ESPECIALLY IN THE AFTERNOON AND THE EVENING AND BECAUSE THE LEAST UPSTAIRS IS COLD ENOUGH. I CAN’T RULE OUT THE POTENTIAL FOR MAYBE A FEW SLEET AND/OR SNOW PELLETS TO MAKE SIN. SO TEMPERATURES RANGE FROM NEAR 50 IN MAYSVILLE. YOU’RE GOING TO GET THE SNOW THE LAST OR LATEST HERE EAST OF CINCINNATI TO TEMPERATURES HOVERING NEAR FREEZING, BUT THEY’RE ABOVE AND WITH THE GROUND BEING WARM A LOT OF THAT MELTS AWAY. SO THE STORM CENTER CRUISES AWAY. THE SNOW IS PIVOTING IN WITH THE COLDER AIR TONIGHT, AND THAT’S BASICALLY WE’LL TAKE US THROUGH AGAIN ABOUT FOUR OR FIVE AM BEFORE SHUTTING OFF. AND THEN WE’LL GET BACK INTO SOME SUNSHINE TOMORROW. SO 34 OFFICIALLY FOR A LOW AGAIN A SLUSHY INCH IS CERTAINLY A POSSIBILITY AND THEN FOR TOMORROW, MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH CHILI BREEZES. IT WILL BE COLD FOR MID-APRIL ONLY ABOUT 47 FOR A HIGH. THERE’S A LOOK AT YOUR DAY PLANNER AGAIN A CHILI SPRING DAY. HERE’S YOUR SEVEN DAY FORECAST. KEEP IN MIND TOMORROW NIGHT. WE HAVE A FREEZE WARNING YOUR PLANTS WILL BE FINE FROM THE SNOW TONIGHT. I ACTUALLY BE MORE CONCERNED ABOUT THE TEMPERATURES TOMORROW NIGHT WITH THE POTENTIAL FOR FROST AND TREES AND SOME AREAS COULD GET DOWN INTO THE 20S AND THEN IT LOOKS LIKE WE REBOUND TEMPERATURE WISE THURSDAY AND FRIDAY, MIKE AND SHRI SADLY THE WEEKEND AT LEAST SATURDAY PROBABLY SPENT INDOORS WITH A GOOD CHANCE FOR WHAT SHOULD BE A WASHOUT OF A SATUR

THAT WE WERE SEEING THERE. YOU KNOW WHAT THE ANIMALS LIKED AND I THINK SOME PEOPLE LIKE THAT, TOO. PRETTY TODAY KEVIN NOT MANY THOUGH. NOT MANY KEVIN NOT MANY MORE FOLKS COMPLAINING ABOUT IT. THEN ACTUALLY ENJOYED IT, BUT THAT DOES BACK THE QUESTION THOUGH, CHERIE. YOU’RE TALKING ANIMALS. WHAT ABOUT THE MONKEYS IN PRICE HILL OUT IT. HOW DID THEY HOW DID THEY HANDLE THE SNOW LAST NIGHT? THAT’S THE BIGGER QUESTION? ALL RIGHT, LET’S TALK ABOUT WHAT’S HAPPENING OUTSIDE RIGHT NOW. HEY, WE’VE GOT SOME GREAT VIEWER PHOTO. THIS WAS SIT IN FROM JW MURDOCK. THIS IS UP IN OXFORD, OHIO, AND I WANT YOU TO THINK ABOUT THIS THE SAME AS YOU WOULD A TYPICAL SUMMER THUNDERSTORM THE SUN COMES OUT. IT MAKES THE ATMOSPHERE. STABLE AND THEN YOU GET SHOWERS TO DEVELOP WELL IN THIS CASE TYPICALLY THIS WOULD BE RAIN OR MAYBE AN INTENSE THUNDERSTORM, BUT BECAUSE YOU GO UP THE AIR WAS SO COLD TODAY NEAR RECORD COLD THE FACT THAT WE ACTUALLY HAD SNOW SO BELIEVE IT OR NOT. THIS IS THE SAME IDENTITY SAME THING AS A TYPICAL SPRINGTIME STORM WOULD BE AND UNDERNEATH THIS WAS ACTUALLY GRAPPLE AND SNOW OCCASIONALLY MIXED IN WITH A LITTLE BIT OF SLEET. YOU CAN SEE THE CURTAIN OF SNOW AND GRAPPLE. WHATEVER’S FALLING FROM UNDERNEATH THE BASE OF THAT. OUT WITH THE SUN SETTING AND THE BACKDROP THERE. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY A GORGEOUS SHOT. THIS IS WHAT ROLLED THROUGH AREAS NORTH OF THE OHIO RIVER CLOSE TO SUNDOWN AND BROUGHT A QUICK BURST OF SNOW A LITTLE BIT OF SLEEP GRAPPLE, ESPECIALLY UP THROUGH WESTCHESTER MASON HAMILTON THE FAIRFIELD COMMUNITY UPON THE NORTH SIDE OF THE CITY. ALL RIGHT, LET’S TALK APRIL SNOW HERE. THIS IS NOT THE LATEST. IT’S EVER SNOWED IN CINCINNATI, BUT IT WAS THE MOST FOR THIS LATE IN THE SEASON 2.3 IS WHAT FELL AFTER MIDNIGHT LAST NIGHT ABOUT A HALF AN INCH OF THAT FELL BEFORE MIDNIGHT OFFICIALLY. SO IT WAS ABOUT 2.7 OVERALL FOR THIS SNOWFALL EVENT. SO, YES, IT DID SET A DAILY SNOWFALL RECORD, BUT IT WASN’T THE LATEST SNOWFALL AND ACTUALLY THE LATEST WE’VE SEEN SNOW IS THE FIRST WEEK OF MAY AROUND HERE IN CASE YOU’RE WONDERING BUT THE SNOW IS BEHIND US NOW AND WE’RE GOING TO GRADUALLY START WORKING OUR WAY BACK TOWARDS NORMAL THAT MEANS TEMPERATURES IN THE 60S AND WE’LL DO IT ON FRIDAY AROUND 60. WE’LL HAVE SOME RAIN IN HERE ON SATURDAY, BUT THEN EARLY NEXT WEEK. WE’RE IN THE 70S AND WE’RE LIKELY TO EVEN BE INTO 80S INTO THE 80S. I SHOULD SAY BY THE TIME WE GET TO THIS POINT NEXT WEEK. SO THE BEST PART ABOUT APRIL WINTER WEATHER IT’S HERE AND IT’S GONE. IF YOU’RE MAKING YOUR OUTDOOR PLANS FOR THE WEEKEND TOMORROW DOESN’T LOOK BAD. IT WILL BE A DRY DAY, BUT STILL A LITTLE CHILLY BY APRIL STANDARDS HIGHS ONLY IN THE 50. SO IF YOU’RE DOING SOMETHING OUTDOORS, IT WILL FEEL A LITTLE COOL FRIDAY LOOKS GOOD SATURDAY NOT SO GOOD. IN FACT OFTENTIMES. I DON’T LIKE TO CALL THE WEEKEND A COMPLETE LOSS, BUT I THINK SATURDAY IS AT LEAST BEFORE THINGS IMPROVE ON SUNDAY SATURDAY. LOOKS LIKE A WASHOUT PRETTY MUCH FROM START TO FINISH. SO HERE’S THAT LITTLE BATCH OF SNOW THOUGH. THAT’S FROM THE PICTURES. I SHOWED YOU. EARLIER, THAT’S OUT OF HERE. ALL THAT’S LEFT NOW IF YOU FLAKES TO THE EAST OF BLUE CREEK THAT’S MOVING AWAY. WE’VE GOT A FREEZE WARNING IN EFFECT TONIGHT AS TEMPERATURES ARE LIKELY TO DROP CLOSE TO 30, MAYBE EVEN INTO THE UPPER 20S. SO AS THE SUN WENT DOWN THE SNOW SHOWERS OF SETTLED SKIES ARE CLEAR FOR NOW. LET’S KEEP AN EYE ON THIS BATCH OF CLOUDS TO THE WEST BECAUSE THAT MAY ACTUALLY HELP US A LITTLE BIT AND PREVENT US FROM GETTING AS WE COULD IT’S 34 OUTSIDE RIGHT NOW AT THE AIRPORT. YOU’RE ALREADY BELOW FREEZING, LOVELAND HAMILTON HARRISON, OXFORD BROOKVILLE. MINI AREAS BELOW THE FREEZING MARK. THIS IS HOW IT LOOKS FOR THE NEXT 12 HOURS WILL DIP DOWN INTO THE UPPER. AROUND 30 AND THEN SUNSHINE TOMORROW PUSHES US CLOSER TO 50. SO JUST SOME PASSING CLOUDS AS WE WORK OUR WAY THROUGH THE NIGHT TONIGHT TOMORROW SAME STORY. MAYBE SOME CLOUDS EARLY THEN SOME SUN AND THEN ON FRIDAY, IT STARTS DRY. BUT CHANCES FOR RAIN WILL GO UP LATE FRIDAY NIGHT THAT MAY BE A LITTLE EARLY BUT THAT LENDS ITSELF TO WHAT HAPPENS ON SATURDAY. SO A FREEZE WARNING TONIGHT ABOUT 28 FOR A LOW TOMORROW PARTLY CLOUDY STILL CHILI, BUT MY OTHER 52, HERE’S A LOOK AT YOUR DAY PLANNER AFTER STARTING BELOW FREE.
BOSTON, Mass. – The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is warning people of “Zoom-bombing,” where hackers hijack teleconferences and online classrooms on the popular remote conferencing platform.

FBI Boston

                said Monday

that reports of “Zoom-bombing” are emerging nationwide as a growing number of people use Zoom to stay connected with colleagues and loved ones.

The FBI says it has received multiple reports of conferences being disrupted by pornographic and/or hate images and threatening language. Two incidents were recently reported at Massachusetts schools.

In one instance, a high school reported that a teacher was conducting an online class using Zoom when an unidentified person dialed into the classroom. The individual reportedly yelled profanity and then shouted the teacher’s home address in the middle of instruction.

In the second instance, The FBI says a school reported that a Zoom meeting was accessed by an unidentified individual who was visible on the video camera and displayed swastika tattoos.

When using platforms like Zoom, the FBI recommends exercising due diligence and caution in your cybersecurity efforts. Investigators say to follow these steps to mitigate teleconference hijacking threats:

Do not make meetings or classrooms public. In Zoom, there are two options to make a meeting private: require a meeting password or use the waiting room feature and control the admittance of guests.

Do not share a link to a teleconference or classroom on an unrestricted publicly available social media post. Provide the link directly to specific people.

Manage screensharing options. In Zoom, change screensharing to “Host Only.”

Ensure users are using the updated version of remote access/meeting applications. In January 2020, Zoom updated its software. In the security update, the teleconference software provider added passwords by default for meetings and disabled the ability to randomly scan for meetings to join.

Lastly, ensure that your organization’s telework policy or guide addresses requirements for physical and information security.

If you were a victim of a teleconference hijacking, or any cyber-crime for that matter, report it to the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center at

                ic3.gov

.

Additionally, if you receive a specific threat during a teleconference, please report it at

                tips.fbi.gov
