Most animal shelters admit it's easier to get dogs adopted than cats.Wayside Waifs in Kansas City did something this week that not only got international attention but also found several felines a forever home. Sometimes you really have to think outside of the box to get animals adopted or, in this case, take to social media. Wayside Waifs posted a lighthearted video on TikTok with the simple intention of showing off some of their cats up for adoption. The simple video got more than one million views. Thanks to that video, all but two of the cats were adopted. "It was actually something that one of our feline care technicians thought of. What kind of animal likes people? What kind of animal would wanna snuggle with the other kittens?” Casey Waugh with Wayside Waifs said. The goal was to get these shelter cats some attention. They had no idea just how much response they’d get."The dogs are sometimes easier, you know, to make TikToks about things like that, but we’ve got lots of different personalities,” Humane Educator Amy Putman said. Those personalities are now a worldwide hit."We have comments from Brazil and the Philippines and the UK, all these amazing places," Waugh said. Wayside Waifs said they still have plenty of animals to adopt. They’ll be looking to come up with more fun ways to get that done in their next video.

ROSWELL, Ga. — Becoming a new mom in the middle of a pandemic was far from what Jessica Kitchel had ever planned. A few weeks before Christmas, this Atlanta-area resident gave birth to her son, Chancy.

"It's been pretty isolating being in the house not being able to leave. And once my husband went back to work, the walls started closing in," Kitchel said.

While mom and baby are perfectly healthy, the holidays and COVID brought about a particularly profound sense of loneliness this year.

It was on one of those rough days in December when Kitchel was waiting for a shipment of Bobbie baby formula for her newborn. When the doorbell rang, she had expected to just find a box, but instead, found a gift waiting to be unwrapped.

In the weeks leading up to Kitchel's delivery, UPS driver Dallen Harrell had noticed the blue stork balloons tied to the family's mailbox. A new dad himself, Harrell decided to leave Kitchel a message as he dropped off her delivery.

In the video message, which has now gone viral, Harrell can be heard saying, "If this is the, 'It’s a Boy House,' I hope all is going well with your newborn. I had a child around the same time you guys did. I hope everything is going good. God bless."

And then the message ended.

"We get deliveries a lot and I’ve never had anyone leave a message. I was blown away. I thought he was like an angel that came to my door," Kitchel said after finding the video.

Just two days after posting the clip to Instagram, Kitchel was able to find Dallen Harrell, the UPS driver who had left the message.

"I was hesitant if I was even at the right house, hesitant if I should say something," Harrell said about the video.

Harrell never expected anyone to see his doorbell cam checkup, and he certainly didn’t expect the gifts he’d soon get in return.

After Kitchel shared the video on social media, there was an outpouring of support for Harrell and his new family. Strangers were so moved they ended up buying out Harrell's entire baby registry, which had been sitting untouched for three months.

"He and his fiancé had not had a baby shower. They hadn’t had a lot of gifts given to them. They had made a registry that was untouched," Kitchel explained.

For Harrell, the whole experience has been life-changing. After seeing the video, UPS decided to offer this seasonal driver a full-time job.

In the last month, the video has circulated around the globe, and Harrell hopes it can be the kind of gift which is appreciated year-round.

"I just hope this will restore faith in humanity, and I hope the message behind, people continue to pay it forward."

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — What was supposed to be an average ride home from the Nashville International Airport left one man stranded on the side of a busy highway.

Aaron Swetland, once a ride-share driver himself, said that despite oddities like the incense burning in his Lyft driver's car, the ride started off normal. But trouble began when the driver pulled onto an expressway with the windows down.

"So I attempt to raise the window on the door, and she has it locked out," Swetland said. "First tip that something is kind of whack for me was like, 'Wait, you've taken control away from me to be able to do that?' That seemed kind of odd."

Swetland asked the driver to close the windows because of the pressure on his ears. The driver told him it was a "COVID rule" to keep the windows open.

Lyft's website recommends drivers and passengers "keep windows down when possible."

"So then I ask her if she doesn't mind to just reduce her speed — maybe that would be more pleasant for me if we're going to have to keep the windows down," Swetland said.

That's when things escalated.

"At that point, that's when I turned on my camera," Swetland said.

Swetland's video shows the driver raising her voice at him and appears to show her attempting to knock the phone out of his hand as she pulls to the side of the highway.

"When she tried to grab for my phone and throw it out of the vehicle, that was a scary moment because I'm like, had she succeeded, I lost my only way to communicate," Swetland said.

After pulling over, the driver threw Swetland's suitcase on the side of the highway.

"When she yanked my bag out of the vehicle and then returned to the trunk, I had a brief moment of, 'Well does she have a weapon?'" he said.

Swetland hopes others learn from his experience and never have to endure a similar ride.

"This really can happen to anybody, and you really kind of have to be cautious of your surroundings and just be aware. In this particular instance, for me, it was a change in tone, in attitude. She was very aggressive for no reason at all," Swetland said. "Just be safe and watch out for yourself. Nobody else is doing it, so you have to do it for yourself."

"Safety is fundamental to Lyft, and the incident shown in the video is concerning," Lyft said in a statement. "We have reached out to the rider to offer our support and have suspended the driver's account pending a complete investigation."
