CINCINNATI —

A deadly shooting is under investigation in Norwood.

Norwood police said they were called to a home in the 5100 block of Hunter Avenue around 1 a.m., where they found a man who had been shot in the chest.

He was taken to UC Medical Center, where he died.

Neighbors said they heard people arguing, followed by one gunshot. Afterward, neighbors said people scattered from the home.

Rob Bolin has lived in the neighborhood for more than 40 years. He said that lately, there's been a lot of activity on the street.

"They just stop, pull up in the middle of the street, and do their little thing and take off," Bolin said.

Josh McCarthy also lives in the area.

"Hopefully, we can go off of this and rebuild chemistry together and get a neighborhood watch going, something along the lines of that to where we can get together and make this place better than it was before," McCarthy said.

Police have no information on the victim or suspect but said this does not appear to be a random shooting.

COVINGTON, Ky. —

Road rage over a parking spot led to a woman shot in the chest on Sunday night, according to Covington police.

Investigators said the woman had serious injuries and was transported to UC Medical Center.

They also told WLWT she was not in critical condition when we asked for more information about how she was doing.

Meanwhile, a neighbor talked with us about what happened and shared surveillance video that captured the sound of the gunshots.

"It doesn't happen down here. It's pretty quiet down here for the most part but this is the most craziest that we've dealt with around here," neighbor Chad Wagner said.

In five years living in the neighborhood, Wagner said he has never heard anything like what his cameras captured.

His security system recorded the sound of the gunshots echoing in the 2400 block of Herman Street.

Covington police said a woman was shot in the chest after an apparent road rage incident over a parking space.

"It's sad. Sad. People don't care. They just don't care. They think in the moment right then and there and then have to deal with the consequences later," Wagner said.

Wagner told WLWT he saw what he thought were the woman's loved ones rushing to the scene worried and upset.

He and other neighbors can't believe a scene like this unfolded here.

Covington police immediately had one suspect detained, according to an investigator.

Now, they're working to figure out what happened.

Investigators said they are interviewing several people at police headquarters.

Meanwhile, neighbors are feeling pretty shaken up.

"I'm ready to move. That was the straw that broke the camel's back. I mean we've dealt with drugs and stuff, but this is, this is the straw that broke the camel's back for sure," Wagner said.

Covington police said they are still looking for at least one other suspect in this incident.

CINCINNATI — Authorities were called to the scene of a fatal shooting on West McMillan Street just after 11 p.m. Friday.

Cincinnati Police Captain Adam Hennie said a man — later identified as 20-year-old Gabriel Ventura — was found deceased at the scene.

The incident is still under investigation.

A man was hospitalized after being shot twice in the leg in West Price Hill on Saturday.

The shooting happened just after 8:30 p.m. on Glenway Ave. Cincinnati police say the victim was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the suspect ran from the scene. No other information was released.

An investigation is underway.

Three victims of the shooting at Smale Riverfront Park are recovering.

Police said a 17-year-old girl is in critical condition and a 16-year-old girl and 15-year-old boy are healing after they were shot in the arm.

Family members told WLWT the oldest victim is in intensive care.

They said she has organ damage, but also told us she is stable after ending up caught in the crossfire.

We also talked with the mother of a 16-year-old who was shot.

"I was about to get in bed when somebody called and said, 'Ms. Katrina, your daughter's shot'. I'm like, what," Trina said.

It was a phone call that changed everything for Trina.

We are not using anything more than her first name and not identifying her 16-year-old daughter at their request after the shooting at Smale Riverfront Park on Sunday.

Trina said she is a nurse and started considering how badly her daughter could be hurt.

"They said that she was shot in the arm, like, and I don't know what it could've been because, you know, me, I see it all the time. It can go through the arm and go into the chest. So, I didn't really know what was happening," Trina said.

It is unbelievable, yet somehow feels predictable to this mother.

"I didn't want her to go down there. Specifically before, specifically for this reason. It seems like every weekend the kids convene down there and it just be a mess, like, there's all types of fights and stuff like that," she said.

Trina told us her 16-year-old daughter was shot as she went to the park after a movie.

She said the bullet is still inside.

Police said a 15-year-old boy was shot in the arm, too.

Even more concerning, officials said a 17-year-old girl is in critical condition after being shot in the back.

Her loved ones said she is in intensive care.

They also said she lost a kidney and has a damaged liver, but is stable at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

They said she was not part of the fight.

For these families, there is a lot to process, including a shared pain knowing some lives have been changed forever and some have been lost.

"There's nothing that you can say to make a person feel better about their loved one being gone. There's nothing," Trina said.

Family members of the 17-year-old said she only turned 17 in May.

They said she was at the park celebrating the Fourth of July with some friends.

Trina said she feels children are being failed across the board, as she reflected on the shooting.

She said there are issues with parenting, the school system and a lack of jobs and other opportunities to keep kids off the streets.

SPRINGDALE, Ohio — In the parking lot of Dave & Busters Monday night, a fight that started inside ended with gunfire.

The man shot was released from the hospital today, according to police, but officials haven't announced any information about a suspect or who could be responsible.

Before the shots were fired, the incident started with a large fight that happened inside the business.

"I am at Dave & Busters in Springdale, there are several fights happening right now and we need the police up here in like 30 seconds," said a 911-caller to dispatch.

A 911-caller also said multiple people had been tased after a large fight broke out. Once the fight moved outside, to the parking lot, those calling 911 became more frantic, telling dispatchers someone had a gun.

"They out here shooting," said a 911-caller. "I'm gone."

A 37-year-old man was found by police nearby, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital but his injuries were considered to be non-life-threatening, according to police.

People caught up in the incident Monday night compared the shooting to recent violent incidents that have erupted this summer in other areas intended for family fun, like Kings Island.

"This young group, I've got news for you," said Maudine Walker, who was shopping in the area after the shooting had already happened. "Keep on walking, because guess what, your time is next. Life is not promised to you."

WCPO reached out to the mayor of Springdale and the Springdale Police Department, but both were unavailable to comment.

A spokesperson with Dave & Busters said their thoughts are with those affected by Monday night's shooting. They would not comment on any safety concerns during the investigation.

A Dayton man has been identified as the pedestrian who was struck and killed Saturday morning on Ohio 4 in Butler County, according to the Journal-News.

Tommy James Johnson, 44, died of multiple traumatic injuries and his death was ruled an accident, according to the Butler County Coroner’s Office.

On Monday, the Butler County Sheriff’s Office and coroner’s office asked for help identifying a man struck and killed Saturday morning while he was walking on Ohio 4, south of Keister Road in Madison Twp.

The man walked into the path of a northbound truck at about 2:15 a.m. Saturday, the sheriff’s office said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the 2019 Kenworth tanker truck was not injured, according to the sheriff’s office. No charges have been filed against the driver, an official said.
