<p>The National Retail Federation found that the Americans plan to spend an average of $192 on Valentine's Day gifts. </p>
<p>The top gifts include greeting cards, flower and candy. Flowers appear to be the overwhelmingly popular choice across the country, according Google Trends. </p>

FOR ITS NEXT HEAD COACH. STEVEN: CONGRATULATIONS TO HIS RETIREMENT. LET US TALK ABOUT OUR WEATHER FORECAST. KATIE: THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS WILL BE GREAT. I THINK WE SEE 71 TOMORROW. KELLY: WHAT? STEVEN: IN FEBRUARY? THAT MAKES ZERO CENTS. KATIE: I AM COOL WITH IT. STEVEN: THAT DOES NOT MAKE ANY SENSE BUT I AM COOL WITH IT. KATIE: REALLY NICE AND THEN WE GET BACK UNDER SOME STORMY SKIES FOR THURSDAY. IT LOOKS LIKE IT WILL RAIN RIGHT NOW, BUT CLOUD COVER IS REALLY THE ONLY CONCERN WITH TEMPERATURES STAYING FAIRLY MILD THROUGH THE DAY. AROUND 59 TO 60 WITH CLOUDS AND SUN CONTINUING THROUGH THE EVENING AND SCATTERED RAIN AT THE -- OPPORTUNITIES THROUGH 7:00 AND 8:00. ISOLATED SHOWERS CONTINUING THROUGH ABOUT MIDNIGHT. BREAKING DOWN THE VALENTINE’S DAY. THE LUNCH DATES HAPPENING IN THE MID-50’S AND THEN ANY KIND OF AFTERNOON WALKS AND OUTSIDE TIME THAT YOU WANT, SUN AND CLOUDS. 50 DEGREES FOR THE HIGH AND THEN DINNERS LOOK LIKE SCATTERED SHOWERS AND ESPECIALLY FOR THOSE ONES HAPPENING AFTER SUNSET. MAYBE BRING THE UMBRELLA AND RAIN JACKET AND IT DOES NOT LOOK TO BE AN ISSUE UNTIL 9:00 OR 10:00. 51 FOR THE OVERNIGHT LOW. THE RAIN ENDS ABOUT MIDNIGHT. SOME OF US COULD BE WARMER BECAUSE WE WILL HAVE MOSTLY CLOUDY SKIES AND WINDY CONDITIONS. GUSTS INCREASE 40 TO 45 MILES AN HOUR THROUGH TOMORROW. FUTURECAST THROUGH TONIGHT AND INTO TOMORROW SHOWS THE CLOUD COVER TODAY WITH A FEW SHOWERS POSSIBLE AS EARLY AS 8:00 AND BETWEEN 9:00 AND 10:00, LIGHT TO MODERATE RAINFALL. NOTHING TOO HEAVY AND FEW AND FAR BETWEEN WITH THE RAIN OPPORTUNITIES. AT MIDNIGHT MOST OF THOSE SHOULD BE BEHIND US AND WE ARE LOOKING AT CLEARING SKIES TOWARDS WEDNESDAY MORNING. SUNSHINE AND THEN FULL ON SON TOMORROW -- SUN TOMORROW AFTERNOON. WINDY BUT THE TEMPERATURES WILL BE GREAT. YOU CAN TURN THE HEAT OFF AND OPEN THE WINDOWS. 71 FOR THE HIGH TWO DEGREES SHY OF A RECORD. HERE IS THE WIND ADVISORY GOING INTO EFFECT AT 4:00 IN THE MORNING WEDNESDAY AND LASTS FOR 12 HOURS. GREATER CINCINNATI IS INCLUDED. WE COULD HAVE GUESTS APPROACHING 50 MILE -- GUSTS APPROACHING 50 MILES AN HOUR. BRING IN THE LOOSE OBJECTS BECAUSE THEY WILL DEFINITELY BE DOWN THE STREET TOMORROW AFTERNOON. THURSDAY, WE WILL BE DRY BUT WINDY. THURSDAY COULD BRING UNSETTLED WEATHER. THE STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS THE ENTIRE VIEWING AREA UNDER A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE WEATHER WHICH IS A TWO ON A FIVE SCALE. WE COULD SEE SCATTERED AND SEVERE STORM OPPORTUNITIES AND ALL THREATS ARE POSSIBLE. A FEW TORNADOES WITH GUSTY WIND OUT OF SOME OF THE STORMS. THAT IS WHY WE HAVE A WEATHER IMPACT DAY ON THURSDAY FOR THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING HOURS AND THAT IS SOMETHING THAT WE WILL KEEP YOU UPDATED ON. 67 DEGREES WITH WIND RETURNING INTO FRIDAY. A FEW FLURRIES IN THE MORNING. 42 DEGREES AND STAYING COOL AND SEASONAL, AND SUNNY. AND THEN BACK TO ANOT

First Lady Jill Biden has sent her annual "valentine to the country" at the White House Monday, celebrating Valentine's Day with an installation on the North Lawn.A large, hand-painted wooden heart popped up overnight in front of the White House, accompanied by wooden cutouts of the Biden pets. The heart quotes 1 Corinthians 13:13: "Three things will last forever -- faith, hope, and love -- and the greatest of these is love." Likenesses of the Bidens' puppy, Commander, and kitten, Willow, are on either side of the heart. It's also festive inside the White House, with heart-shaped art work from local students displayed on the East Landing of the White House. Second grade students from Alejandro Diasgranados' class at Aiton Elementary School in Washington, D.C., decorated hearts hanging in the windows.Twenty of Diasgranados' students will come to the White House for a tour Monday, and Biden is expected to bring the second graders outside to see the wooden heart, per the office of the first lady."Many of Mr. Diasgranados' second grade students have never been to the White House and are excited to have their 'heart-work' on display in the East Wing," her office said.Biden previously decorated the White House lawn for Valentine's Day last year, with pink and red hearts with words like "hope" and "healing" and "kindness."But as Biden commemorates the festive holiday, there is a sobering reminder visible from the same lawn of another anniversary. Four years since the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, one Parkland dad unfurled a sign from a crane just a few blocks away from the White House. The sign was placed by Manuel Oliver, the father of Joaquin "Guac" Oliver, who was among the 17 people murdered that day."45K people died from gun violence on your watch!" the sign says, featuring a photo of Joaquin Oliver and directing people to a website with statistics on gun violence during the Biden administration.President Joe Biden commemorated the anniversary in a statement this morning as he renewed calls to combat gun violence."On this difficult day, we mourn with the Parkland families whose lives were upended in an instant; who had to bury a piece of their soul deep in the earth. We pray too for those still grappling with wounds both visible and invisible."He pointed to his administration's plan to curb gun violence and pointed to funding in his congressional budget request to reduce violent crime.

<p> First Lady Jill Biden has sent her annual "valentine to the country" at the White House Monday, celebrating Valentine's Day with an installation on the North Lawn.</p>
<p>A large, hand-painted wooden heart popped up overnight in front of the White House, accompanied by wooden cutouts of the Biden pets.</p>

The lesson inspired one of Strawbridge's students, 5-year-old John Reese Booker, to ask his favorite teacher to dinner to make sure she's not alone for Valentine's Day.Deborah Peterson is a teacher's aide who started working with John Reese at Huxford Elementary School last year and said they've become close."He's attached to me and I've been attached to him ever since," she said.John Reese gave Peterson a rose and asked her to dinner in a card he made himself. "And I opened up the card and it said, 'will you go to dinner with me at David's Saturday at 6 o'clock?' and I said of course, yes," Peterson said. John Reese said he picked the restaurant because he knew it was Peterson's favorite. Watch the video above to see the pair talk about their upcoming plans.

With Valentine's Day around the corner, the Better Business Bureau is warning about romance scams. There are some steps people can take to protect themselves before dating online.According to the BBB, most online dating scams start with fake pictures -- basically good-looking men and women to get people on the hook, but there are some ways to find out if that picture is really of the person you are talking to online.Angie Barnett, president and CEO of BBB of Greater Maryland, said there are several reverse image sites to do some detective work. "Images.google.com -- put that photo in and what you will detect is where that photo is being used, other sites, other places and you may find. It's being used with different profiles and different people and that is one of your biggest warning signs," Barnett said.Romance scammers will also try to build trust quickly and move you off a dating site in order to take your money or your identity."They are going to say, 'I've never felt this way before, I'm so in love with you,'" Barnett said. They'll tell you a hard-luck story to get you to either send money or give over your credit card number."They will eventually give you plausible reasons why they need money. They can't get it quickly and they'll ask you for the money," Barnett said.Barnett said Pew Research shows 30% of online daters are 50 and older, and susceptible to losing the most amount of money. While knowing what to look for can help, she also said people should check website or app reviews before creating a profile. "Put in complaints, reviews, scam and look to see what others have to say about it. That's a tactic BBB uses all the time," she said.Barnett said another red flag is more red, poor grammar or using phrases that just seem off.Resources and tips to protect yourself from scams:First, make sure the dating website you are using is "legit". If it is an unfamiliar site, type in the website name along with the words "reviews" and "scams," keeping a close eye out for past users who the site might be fake or problematic.Use your credit card to pay for online services and membership. This way you can dispute any unauthorized charges if you find yourself at a fake website.Never send money or personal information that can be used for identity theft to someone you’ve never met in person. Never give someone your credit card information to book a ticket to visit you. Cut off contact if someone starts asking you for information like credit card, bank, or government ID numbers.Ask specific questions about details given in a profile. A scammer may stumble over remembering details or making a story fit.Do your research. Many scammers steal photos from the web to use in their profiles. You can do a reverse image lookup using a website like tineye.com or images.google.com to see if the photos on a profile are stolen from somewhere else. You can also search online for a profile name, email, or phone number to see what adds up and what doesn't.

<p>This Valentine's Day, therapists are issuing a warning: watch your money and your accounts.</p>
<p>Wendy Barlin, a CPA and Chief Strategist for "About Profit," says looks can be deceiving.</p>
<p>"People assume that it's easy for me," Barlin said. "That's because I have a CPA license, so I must know how to manage my money."</p>
<p>Now, at the height of her professional career, Barlin admits it was a rocky road to get to where she now sits.</p>
<p>That road seemed perfect more than 14 years ago when she was happily married. But her then-husband was hiding something.</p>
<p>"Just one more night at the tables, just one more night," Barlin said. "There I am, CPA, a partner in a firm in Los Angeles driving to the casinos at night to drag him out. And I didn't even know the amount he had amassed to follow this winning dream."</p>
<p>That debt, she would later learn, amassed to some $55,000.</p>
<p>"Ultimately, I was responsible for those, and I paid off every single dollar myself."</p>
<p>She's since moved on, remarried, had two kids, and now she helps people make smart money choices, which often ties into smart relationship choices.</p>
<p>"That's where the therapist comes in because I don't always think it's a call for divorce; maybe there is a way out," Barlin said.</p>
<p>Dr. Richelle Moen is a psychologist, a marriage and family therapist, and professor at The University of Minnesota Medical School.</p>
<p>"If you're the first to admit the problem, it makes it a whole lot quicker and deeper in terms of you coming forward and recognizing and stating that you have a problem," Dr. Moen said. "The hope is, and I'm a marriage and family therapist, that we can find a way to repair, but both have to be incredibly motivated to work on this relationship and the commitment to the relationship."</p>
<p>Dr. Moen has seen it all in her 30 years of counseling.</p>
<p>People were hiding purchases, addictions, even child support payments.</p>
<p>"Oftentimes, people wait until they're married to discuss budgets and what's important to you, and so what happens they get into a relationship long term or a marriage and try to figure it out and say whoa that isn't what I was expecting."</p>
<p>She recommends doing the bills and finances together. And while you can't change others, you can change yourself. After all, Wendy Barlin did.</p>
<p>"I still struggle with a lot of these choices every single day, but I have the tools now to help my family and me to manage our money smarter and be more open and honest with each other, so there are no surprises," Barlin said.</p>
<p>Her top piece of advice now? Have three accounts with your partner. A "yours", "mine," and "ours" and bring all the secrets to the table.</p>

ALL RIGHT. WELL GET ALL THAT SHOWS THAT SHOW THAT SNOW SHOVELED BECAUSE WE’RE GETTING A LITTLE BREAK HERE AND I WANT TO EMPHASIZE A LITTLE BECAUSE THINGS ARE ABOUT TO CHANGE AGAIN BRINGING OUR CHIEF METEOROLOGIST. KEVIN ROBINSON KEVIN THE OTHER DAY. WE HAD THE MOST SNOWFALL IN ONE POUNDING SINCE 2008. DON’T TELL ME THAT WE’RE GOING IN THAT DIRECTION HERE SOON. DON’T TELL ME THAT WELL, WE CERTAINLY COULD SEE SOMETHING BIGGER, BUT THAT’S ON THE HORIZON FOR NOW. LET’S ALL KIND OF TAKE A DEEP BREATH. AWAY THE LOW OR KIND OF THE BREAK HERE IN THE ACTION. HERE’S A LOOK AT RADAR RIGHT NOW. THINGS ARE QUIET OUTSIDE AND OVERALL. IT SHOULD BE QUIET THROUGH THE EVENING IN MUCH OF THE NIGHT. THERE WERE A FEW FLURRIES OUT HERE. I WAS WATCHING ACROSS PARTS OF RIPLEY COUNTY OUT TOWARDS BATESVILLE IN NAPOLEON. THOSE HAVE SEEMINGLY BASICALLY FALLEN APART. THAT’S REALLY ALL I WOULD EXPECT AROUND HERE. IF YOU DO SEE ANY SNOW TONIGHT OR EARLY TOMORROW MORNING, IT WOULD JUST BE A FEW PASSING FLURRIES. THAT’S REALLY ABOUT IT. BUT BOY, WE’VE MADE UP LOST GROUND, RIGHT? HOW ABOUT THIS NOW NOT ONLY FOR THE MONTH. BE WEARY WE ARE ABOVE NORMAL. NOW. LOOK AT THAT BY SOME WELL 12 AND A HALF INCHES, AND WE’VE BASICALLY RECEIVED ALL OF OUR SNOW THAT WE NEED FOR THE SEASON WITHOUT ADDING ANOTHER FLAKE HERE IN THE PAST TWO TWO AND A HALF WEEKS. SO WE ARE DEFINITELY GOING TO ADD MORE TO OUR SEASONAL SNOWFALL HOW MUCH MORE WELL THAT IS YET TO BE DETERMINED THAT’S GOING TO HAVE A BIG FACTOR NEXT WEEK, BUT WE’LL SEE HOW THAT PLAYS OUT ONE THING’S FOR SURE THE SNOW’S NOT GOING ANYWHERE. SO FAR WE’VE HAD THREE CONSECUTIVE DAYS BELOW FREEZING AND IT LOOKS LIKE WE’RE LIKELY TO STAY AT OR BELOW FREEZING PROBABLY THROUGH THE BETTER PART OF NEXT WEEK AS WELL BECAUSE LOOK AT TEMPERATURES HERE. WE’RE STAYING IN THE MID TO UPPER 20S FOR HIGHS THROUGH THE WEEKEND. LOOK AT MONDAY ONLY IN THE TEENS THERE EVEN HEADING INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK THE COLD REMAINS. SO THE SNOW THAT’S ON THE GROUND NOW. IT’S NOT GOING ANYWHERE ANYTIME SOON. CHECK OUT THIS SHOT. WE HAVEN’T SEEN THIS REALLY PRETTY MUCH ALL WINTER RIGHT A VERY WINTER SCENE FROM HERE ATOP CAREW TOWER WITH THE SNOW ALL ON THE GROUND. WE’VE GOT THAT NICE DEEP SNOWPACK, YOU KNOW, FORTUNATELY WE’VE KEPT THE CLOUDS LOCKED IN PLACE AND REMEMBER THOSE CLOUDS TEND TO ACT LIKE A LITTLE BIT OF A BLANKET AND KEEP US INSULATED IF IT WEREN’T FOR THE CLOUDS. WE WOULD BE MUCH MUCH COLDER AT NIGHT, ESPECIALLY WITH THAT DEEP SNOWPACK ON THE GROUND. WE’RE AT 25 DEGREES RIGHT NOW. GOT THAT BRISK NORTHEAST WIND SO CERTAINLY WINDCHILLS ARE DOWN IN THE TEENS. SO IT FEELS PLENTY COLD ENOUGH TEMPERATURES AROUND THE AREA RANGE FROM 27 IN MAYSVILLE MASONS AT 25, SPRINGBORO 24. YOU’RE IN THE LOW 20S OVER THERE IN SOUTHEAST, INDIANA. SO LET ME SHOW YOU WHAT’S HAPPENING. WE’VE GOT THE FLURRIES THAT WERE IN SNOW SHOWERS THAT WERE IN PLACE THIS MORNING COLD AIR LOCKED IN ACROSS THE OHIO VALLEY. WE’RE KIND OF IN BETWEEN WEATHER SYSTEMS. SO NO MAJOR STORMS CRANKING UP HERE AT LEAST IN THE SHORT TERM. WALK YOU THROUGH FUTURECAST AGAIN AS I MENTIONED. I CAN’T RULE OUT A PASSING FLURRY OR TWO TONIGHT OR EVEN IN THE MORNING, BUT OTHERWISE, THIS IS OUR BREAK YOUR FRIDAY LOOKS PRETTY NICE AROUND HERE FOR US FRIDAY NIGHT’S GOING TO BE QUIET AND COLD THE FIRST PART OF YOUR SATURDAY IS GOOD. THERE WILL BE A SYSTEM THAT SCOOTS BY ON SATURDAY THAT COULD SQUEEZE OUT A LITTLE SNOW MAYBE A HALF AN INCH OR SO FOR THE AREA SATURDAY EVENING AND SATURDAY NIGHT AND THEN WE GET A BREAK AGAIN IN HERE ON SUNDAY, BUT OVERNIGHT SUNDAY THINGS START TO GET INTERESTING. HERE’S LATE. DAY NIGHT EARLY MONDAY MORNING AND BOY THE NEXT SYSTEM COULD BE QUITE SIGNIFICANT AND A PROLONGED EVENT, WHICH SNOW STARTING DURING THE MORNING ON MONDAY AND CONTINUING THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT AND EVE INTO TUESDAY MORNING BEFORE WRAPPING UP FOLKS. THIS HAS THE INDICATIONS OF BEING A BIG SYSTEM. SO YOU’LL WANT TO STAY TUNED ON DEVELOPING FORECAST COLD TONIGHT 18 FOR YOUR LOW TOMORROW. MOSTLY CLOUDY, BUT AT LEAST A LITTLE SUN OUT THERE 28, THERE’S A LOOK AT YOUR DAY PLANNER AGAIN ANOTHER DAY BELOW FREEZING. HERE’S A LOOK AT YOUR SEVEN. FORECAST SO MIKE AND SHEREE OVERALL A QUIETER STRETCH THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS SOME LIGHT SNOW CHANCES IN HERE ON SATURDAY, AND THEN VALENTINE’S DAY LOOKS PRETTY COLD AND THEN ALL ATTENTION WILL SHIFT AND FOCUS ON EARLY NEXT WEEK, WHICH COULD BE A PRETTY HEA

Finding that special someone can be tough in the best of times. But couples who met each other over the past year have had to balance getting closer emotionally while staying physically apart. Dating during the pandemic has come with novelties at every turn. Megan Farley started dating her boyfriend right before staying at home became the norm. "He's met my mom once, and we've been dating more than a year," Farley said. "It's just kind of strange. We didn't do family holidays and I've been fortunate enough to meet his family too, but every time we do this we have to get tested because his family lives with his grandfather."Instead of spending time out with each other's friends, they've spent more time inside playing games. "I feel like it made us bond a little bit more just because we weren't able to have all those other distractions," Farley said. "It really showed the connection we have."Courtney Quinlan owns Midwest Matchmaking. She said business is not only busy, but dating itself has changed with COVID-19. "People are dating with the intentions of finding a lasting relationship more so than the previous hook-up culture. A lot of people are A, not having resources to just go out to bars anymore because they're not open, or B, they're scared to do that," Quinlan said. Sidney Jacobson got into a relationship shortly before the first case of the virus arrived in Iowa. She said she's kept her circle of contacts small, but now she's planning Summerset Winery's first indoor event for Valentine's Day. "It will be very private, intimate," Jacobson said. "Only 12 groups down in the cellar, and then we made sure that tables are going to be spaced out."

Ever felt like ripping your ex's head off?Well now you can. Sorta. For just $5, the San Antonio Zoo will name a cockroach after your former significant other and feed it to a bird, reptile or mammal. It's part of the zoo's "Cry Me a Cockroach" event on Valentine's Day.And if your ex-boo was an especially snaky one, pay $20 more to have zoo keepers feed a frozen rat to a reptile instead. For those not into critters, the zoo offers a $5 herbivore option that consists of romaine lettuce, cabbage and other leafy greens that can be fed to vegetarian animals. The best part of the deal? You don't have to be at the zoo to watch your ex-turned-pest get eaten up. San Antonio Zoo plans to stream the feedings on Facebook Live. You'll even receive a certificate to share on social media. If you're feeling brave enough, post it and tag that unlucky someone.Jilted lovers have until Feb. 13 at 6 p.m. ET to register on the zoo's website. Only first names will be displayed during the event. The money raised from the "Cry Me A Cockroach" event will go towards expanding the zoo's jaguar habitat with a connected overhead catwalk.
