The two best students at one New York high school aren't just related — they're twins, and they're bringing sibling rivalry to a whole new level.Twin sisters Gloria and Victoria Guerrier were respectively named valedictorian and salutatorian of West Hempstead Secondary School's Class of 2023 last week. Gloria earned a grade point average of 105.3, while Victoria's reached 104.9. Neither have ever received a grade lower than a 100 on their transcripts, according to the school."We had been working for this for a long time but we never know what can happen in the four years," said Victoria, during an appearance on "Good Morning America." "So we're very happy that it turned out the way we wanted."The twins spent their four years competing in the classroom. When one got a grade better than the other, it would motivate the other to get a higher score next time."It's like the saying, 'How iron sharpens iron,'" said Gloria. "We really use each other to improve upon ourselves. I think that level of competition between us was what really helped us."Even outside of the classroom, Gloria and Victoria are three-sport varsity athletes, and they have both earned All-County and All-State honors for track."Their latest feat is just one of many accolades that they have achieved both in and outside of the classroom," the school said in a statement. "They are in the top 5% of the secondary school's graduating class and have never shied away from a challenging course load. Year after year, they have chosen and enrolled in the most rigorous advanced courses that were available to their grade level and excelled in them all."Both Guerrier sisters will be attending Yale University in the fall, they said, with plans to study computer science. The competition, then, is only just beginning.

<p>Conservation activists in Kenya say they've spotted a rarity in Kenya — baby twins elephants.</p>
<p>The newborn twin calves were spotted in the Samburu National Reserve in Northern Kenya, according to local charity Save The Elephants.</p>
<p>"Twins form around only 1% of births. Quite often the mothers don't have enough milk to support two calves," the charity's founder, Iain Douglas-Hamilton, told <a class="Link" href="https://www.cnn.com/2022/01/20/africa/kenya-twin-elephants-intl-hnk/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CNN</a> on Thursday.</p>
<p>According to the <a class="Link" href="https://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-60075135" target="_blank" rel="noopener">BBC</a>, the pair includes both a male and a female. Save The Elephants later told the BBC that they're keeping their "fingers crossed" that both calves survive.</p>
<p>The pair is only the second set of twin calves ever encountered by Save The Elephants. The last time the organization saw elephant twins was in 2006.</p>
<p>Elephants in Kenya are at risk of poachers, who kill them to meet the demand for ivory. However, new studies show poaching has dropped in recent years.</p>

Giving birth to rare identical triplets.A mother from Oklahoma delivered three baby girls in June. The family is finally together after the two youngest came home from the hospital. Aspen, Kensli and Layken spent nearly two months in the NICU. “They were born at 29 weeks. So, they were all a little over two pounds. So, they were really small,” mom Stephanie Norman said. Small but mighty – and growing every day. “Aspen, she actually got to come home first,” she said. “The other two were still in the NICU, so that was really hard.”The Normans are all together now. Stephanie, dad TJ and 2-year-old Wyatt are adjusting going from a family of three to six. Stephanie gave birth to the triplets on June 2. “They all have their own sack, so since they all shared one placenta, that made them identical,” she said. The news of three babies came as a huge shock to the high school sweethearts. “We wanted one more and we were hoping it would be a girl. And then we were surprised we got three girls!” Stephanie said. “I kind of joked about it on the way there for the first ultrasound. Yeah, what are we going to do if we hear more than one heartbeat – and then there were three of them in there," TJ said. Big brother Wyatt couldn’t be prouder.“When they get up in the morning, he’ll be like, ‘Hi, sissy,’” Stephanie said.Telling the girls apart is a challenge.“We have little anklet bracelets on them right now of different colors with their initials on them,” Stephanie said. It’s three of everything now – a three-seat stroller and lots of diapers. But the Normans are grateful.

<p>Stephanie gave birth to the triplets on June 2. </p>
<p>“They all have their own sack, so since they all shared one placenta, that made them identical,” she said. </p>
<p>The news of three babies came as a huge shock to the high school sweethearts. </p>
<p>“We wanted one more and we were hoping it would be a girl. And then we were surprised we got three girls!” Stephanie said. </p>
<p>“I kind of joked about it on the way there for the first ultrasound. Yeah, what are we going to do if we hear more than one heartbeat – and then there were three of them in there," TJ said. </p>
<p>Big brother Wyatt couldn’t be prouder.</p>
<p>“When they get up in the morning, he’ll be like, ‘Hi, sissy,’” Stephanie said.</p>
<p>Telling the girls apart is a challenge.</p>
<p>“We have little anklet bracelets on them right now of different colors with their initials on them,” Stephanie said.</p>
<p>It’s three of everything now – a three-seat stroller and lots of diapers. But the Normans are grateful.</p>

don't let your eyes and ears deceive you at tomorrow's Memorial High school graduation. If you hear the same last name repeated three times as the school will graduate, three sets of triplets. It was just like unique coming here and having all these other kids are multiples. We've seen each other in classes before and you know it's kind of special of the 664 students in the class of 2021 there are three sets of triplets and 18 pairs of twins. And for some the first time they will be apart after high school. I'm gonna miss these two. Maybe like the longest time. Maybe it was like 23 weeks and now we're gonna be like gone for like a year for all very different. But Coming together to get today, it's pretty special especially at this school. And if you didn't know three of them are a. b. c. 13 anchor Gina Gaston's. We've been with each other like For 17 years now almost everyday with each other and my mom would be really sad when we leave. I think throughout this year with COVID, our relationship as triplets has changed so much specifically because we're all leaving for college this year. So we're like, okay, this time was like so good for us special with our parents to everything. Like I've experienced now, like I've had them to to lean on, but now it's just me on my own as the triplets get ready to graduate, a word of advice for next year's seniors just enjoy your senior year at Memorial High School. I'm TJ Parker abc 13, Eyewitness News.
