FORT MYERS, Fla. — We've all heard of snakes on a plane. Well, some Florida firefighters in Fort Myers found a snake in a truck.

On Thursday morning, the Fort Myers Fire Department said in a Facebook post that firefighters were returning to the fire station when a motorist flagged them down.

When they stopped, the motorist said they found a snake inside their truck's engine compartment.

The fire department said firefighters removed the python safely and notified Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

According to CNN, officials believe it's likely an escaped pet, so they are trying to locate its owner.

A Montgomery County home was accidentally burned to the ground by an owner trying to get rid of a snake infestation, officials said. The Poolesville homeowner was attempting to use smoke to purge the snakes from the house, according to Montgomery County Fire Department officials. In the process, the homeowner caught the house on fire, causing about $1 million in damage, The Washington Post reported. Pete Piringer, a spokesman for the county fire department, said on Twitter that 75 firefighters were called to put out the blaze that started in the basement. Piringer said the fire, caused by placing coals too close to combustible material, was accidental and that no people were hurt. But he said the well-being of the snakes is "undetermined."

After two days of searching, officials at a Louisiana aquarium have finally located a 12-foot-long albino Burmese python that escaped from its enclosure earlier this week.

The Advocate reports that Cara the python broke out of her enclosure early Monday morning at the Blue Zoo Aquarium, which is located inside the Mall of Louisiana in Baton Rouge.

According to CNN, Cara escaped her exhibit by "brute force" when it bent the tank's corner to get free.

"This is like if we lost our child," Blue Zoo spokeswoman Ronda Swanson told The Advocate.

Officials briefly shut down the mall on Tuesday morning when they discovered the snake was missing. As the search continued, officials persuaded tenants to reopen their stores, noting that Cara is nonvenomous and unlikely to attack humans.

CNN reports that the aquarium brought in night vision and motion sensor cameras in an attempt to find Cara. But it wasn't until Thursday morning that they found the snake in a crawl space.

WBRZ-TV in Baton Rouge reports that Cara was found safe and sound but was transported to the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine for a health check as a precaution.

"We couldn't be more excited to share with you that the search is over! Cara has been found, safe and healthy!" Blue Zoo said in a Facebook post.

The aquarium reopened its doors on Friday.

A large snake was reportedly seen on a Pennsylvania trail and park rangers were searching for it Wednesday.

Police officers in Pittsburgh were also on the lookout for the snake in Frick Park.

"A witness stated the snake did not appear to be a native species. It is not yet verified as to what type of snake it is," the city's Public Safety Department said Wednesday.

Pittsburgh Public Safety tweeted the photo that was sent with the initial report of the snake.
