Michael Jordan's name is now on one of the NBA's most prestigious trophies.

The league announced six newly designed trophies on Tuesday. They are all named after NBA legends

The new Michael Jordan Trophy will go to the NBA's most valuable player. The bronze trophy features a player coming out of a rock and reaching a crystal basketball.

“I’m incredibly honored to have created the NBA’s MVP trophy in partnership with Michael Jordan,” Mark Smith, retired VP of Innovation Special Projects at Nike,

Jordan won the NBA's MVP award five times during his career.

This season, the defensive player of the year will receive the Hakeem Olajuwon Trophy. The rookie of the year will take home the Wilt Chamberlain Trophy. The sixth man of the year will get the John Havlicek Trophy. The George Mikan Trophy will go to the most improved player.

The Jerry West Trophy will go to the new "clutch" player of the year. The media panel will decide on a winner based on nominations from NBA head coaches.

“Our new collection of trophies celebrates some of the greatest and most impactful players in the history of the NBA,” said NBA Commissioner Adam Silver. “As we recognize the league’s top performers each season, we also pay tribute to the legends who embody these prestigious awards.”

Adidas expects to lose $1.3 billion in revenue due to ending its partnership with the rapper formerly known as Kanye West.

The company cut ties with Ye in 2022 after the rapper made numerous antisemitic remarks.

It's still unclear what the German apparel company will do with the existing Yeezy products. However, it says if they are not repurposed Adidas' operating profits could be lowered by an additional $500 million this year.

“The numbers speak for themselves. We are currently not performing the way we should”, said Adidas CEO Bjørn Gulden. “2023 will be a year of transition to set the base to again be a growing and profitable company."

Adidas had a moderately successful 2022. The company reports that revenues increased by 1% in currency-neutral terms.

"We need to put the pieces back together again, but I am convinced that over time we will make adidas shine again. But we need some time," Gulden said.

News of the drop in revenue sent Adidas stocks tumbling on Friday. It was down by more than 1% before the market closed.

DENVER, Colo. — Looking clean and pristine was once the standard of travel.

"These folks are the best. No matter who I get every time I have time when I'm in Denver, I always stop and get a shoe shine," said one pilot at the Denver airport.

It's what veteran pilots have always known.

"I know it doesn't look like it by looking at me, but I've been doing this for 27 and a half years," said another pilot.

However, time has shifted and fewer less travelers are gliding through the airport in tip-top shape. Jill Wright, the CEO of Executive Shine, has watched it happen the first time and that's why her business has stood the test of time.

"The world's changed a lot," Wright said. "We have a saying that we say is: 'what does love look like here, for the person in front of you right now,' and that's how our whole business runs."

You don't need your fanciest pair of shoes to stop by! Your leather sneakers or favorite boots will certainly suffice.

"Those are the trends that have shifted. It's gone from really stiff to really soft, and I think that's kind of symbolic for what's happening with people," Wright said.

To Wright and her team, a shiny pair of shoes is simply the cherry on top. This business, in the center of the Denver airport, is about connection.

"I mean it literally gives me life to have you guys come back and see us again. Just knowing that I touched your day in a special way," said Tara Soto, an employee at Executive Shine.

People share their stories as they sit down.

"These boots I actually got while I was in Germany visiting my grandma," one woman explained.

We've learned many airline staff won't go anywhere else in the country.

"The only place I've gotten my shoes shined is here," a pilot told us. "We all know when we buy our next set of shoes gotta go through Denver."

Wright says it is rare people are given the opportunity to share and the employees, sitting in front of them, really care.

"People still need to be seen and be appreciated for who they are," Wright said.

"It goes deeper than the shine for me for sure," Soto explained.

Soto says shoes are a metaphor for how people judge themselves.

"When you look at your shoes, you come up and you're like, 'Oh, they look so good,' and there's a little bit of color off the tips of the toes or they are not in the best shape, ya know, sometimes that's how we as people look at each other or even ourselves," Soto said. "Just dirty, without purpose, trying to find your worth, trying to find your beauty that you have inside."

It's a journey she's personally experienced, working here for nearly a decade.

"Going through the transformation of cleaning them and conditioning them is really a personal transformation that we go through in life too," Soto said.

We all know the saying to walk in someone's shoes and in this case it's connecting sole to soul.

"Always put yourself in the shoes of someone else," Wright said.

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — Steve Negaard knows one thing better than most. It’s in his blood.

“You know, my grandfather came over from Sweden and he didn’t really know much except shoe repair. I’m the owner of a family business here in Minneapolis. We’ve been in business since 1929. It’s called Nokomis Shoe."

Nokomis Shoe is an unassuming but quaint store in south Minneapolis. And while Negaard knows shoes, lately he hasn’t known when his next order will be filled.

“I’ve never had it where it’s so slow to get the product that I’ve ordered. It’s a day-to-day battle to get product,” said Negaard.

This isn’t just a problem for Negaard, and not just a problem for businesses selling shoes.

“The last few weeks, feels like the last few months, we’ve had a lot of a lot supply chain challenges, the result of COVID-19. And obviously a couple weeks ago we had the incident with the Evergiven in the Suez Canal, which is further stressing the supply chain,” said Jonathan Gold, the VP of Supply Chain and Customs Policy for the National Retail Federation.

He says the late March obstruction of the Suez Canal in Egypt only made global trade issues even worse.

“You’ve seen the congestion on the West Coast for a couple of months now,” said Gold.

Or maybe you haven’t seen it. Ports on the West Coast have been clogged since before Christmas. Now, the same thing is likely to happen on the East Coast, even though ships are flowing through the now unblocked canal.

“Your vessels are now heading to the East Coast and it’s going to cause some port congestion as a result. Instead of the vessels being staggered as they normally are, they’re all going to come at once,” said Gold.

And that is going to affect you when you go shopping on items you might not ever think about.

“Even soaps out of Seattle, it’s everything. I don’t see the situation improving for at least 120 days,” said Negaard.

Negaard has made a ton of adjustments and Nokomis is doing OK. But he’s worried about other small businesses around the country.

“I just, I hope the consumer shops local and thinks about these people that are supporting their neighborhoods and communities, because we won’t be around if they don’t.”
