ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —

Seven students were transported to the hospital after a school bus got into a rollover crash, Albuquerque police said Wednesday.

A spokesperson with Albuquerque Public Schools said 23 students were aboard the school bus when a white Mustang hit its rear tire, causing the bus to tip over. The driver of the Mustang was transported, officials said at a briefing.

The Albuquerque Police Department said the crash happened around 4 p.m. at Messina Drive Southwest and Gibson Boulevard.

All crash victims are expected to survive their injuries, police said.

A police spokesperson told sister station KOAT that the school bus was from George I. Sanchez Collaborative Community School.

Police said an Albuquerque Public Schools principal responsible for those students called parents and asked them to meet just west of Messina and Gibson to pick up their child.

"We’re keeping the kids who went through this scary incident and their families in our prayers and are grateful that there are no life-threatening injuries at this time. Thank you to the first responders who acted swiftly to make sure the kids were safe and got the help they needed, preventing this from turning into a worse situation," said Mayor Tim Keller.

Presbyterian Hospitals confirmed that a few patients from the crash were checked in but they could not confirm how many. Lovelace Hospitals said it received patients as well.

BROWN COUNTY, Ohio — The driver of a pickup truck was airlifted to the hospital Friday morning after a head-on collision involving a school bus.

Brown County Dispatch confirmed air care responded to a collision between a truck and school bus before 9 a.m. along Purdy Road in Sardinia. The bus belonged to Eastern Local Schools, and Superintendent Dr. Michele Filon said the district is fully cooperating with the investigation.

None of the 20 children on the bus were seriously injured, but the family of the 39-year-old pickup truck driver said he has broken bones and may need surgery. Troopers said the driver was on his way to work when the crash happened.

Britton Denny, a man who lived near the crash, said he helped pull the students out of the back of the bus after the vehicle had extensive damage to the front.

"They were terrified," Denny said. "[I] really just tried to talk them down, calm them down and get the adrenaline to stop flowing, but I don't think there was a kid who came off that bus that wasn't crying."

Ohio State Highway Patrol said it is still unclear how the crash happened.

The crash comes one day after several students were taken to the hospital when a pickup truck hit the back of a Middletown City Schools bus. All of the students had "minor injuries" per the city's communications manager.

CINCINNATI — A First Student school bus was involved in a crash with another vehicle in Westwood on Wednesday morning, according to Cincinnati police and Cincinnati Public Schools.

Cincinnati police confirmed there were Taft Elementary School students on the bus at the time of the crash and some had minor injuries, but no one was transported to the hospital.

The students were picked up by their parents.
