One person was shot and killed, and eight others are injured following a mass shooting Friday night in Savannah, Georgia.

Savannah Police said officers were called to the 200 block of Avery Street, just off Oglethorpe Avenue, for reports of gunshots fired around 9 p.m.

When they arrived, officers found one adult dead and eight other people wounded. Two of those victims are in critical condition.

Savannah Police provided updates during a press conference Saturday afternoon, where Chief Roy Minter said the shooting victims' ages range from 18 months to 33 years old. Two of those victims are in critical condition, the six others are non-life-threatening.

Among the wounded are two children, ages 2 and 13.

Three apartments and six cars were hit during the gunfire exchange and police found 60 shell casings at the scene.

Minter says this may be a result of a conflict between two groups and this could be associated with another shooting also on Avery Street from earlier in the week.

Police believe they saw a dark color or red sedan fleeing the area Friday night.

The shooting occurred just three blocks from police headquarters.

No suspects have been identified at this time.

No motive for the shooting has been determined, nor have the circumstances that led to the attack.

Savannah Mayor Van Johnson tweeted overnight asking anyone with information to come forward. "We will need the community's help with tips, leads and information. #SaySomething," the tweet read.

The shooting remains under investigation.
