<p>
The return of Joey Votto has been long-awaited, but the wait was worth it after he hit a tiebreaking homerun to give the Reds' a lead over Toronto on Sunday. It seems fitting that Votto would hit a homerun against he Blue Jays after he was asked what sights he wanted to see on his trip back home and he responded, "Sights-wise, the center of the baseball. Parts of the city, somewhere around windows, maybe the second deck. Somewhere around there. That’s what I’m targeting.”The Reds have been without their star first baseman since May 3 when he was placed on the COVID-19 injured list. Votto was reassigned to play with the Reds' Triple A affiliate Louisville Bats before returning to the major league club. When he was placed on the injured list, he was hitting .122 with four runs, three RBI's and a double, so far this season. On May 16, the Reds announced that Votto would continue his rehab assignment in Dayton with the Dayton Dragons, where he started out his MLB career when he first got drafted in 2002. Votto returned to the Reds' roster on Friday when the team traveled to his hometown of Toronto to face the Blue Jays. Although the Reds' only won one game out of the three-game series, this win was a meaningful one for the first baseman. Bally Sports Jim Day asked Votto how much his tiebreaking homerun meant to him, since it was Votto's first home run of the season as well. "It has meaning, but I gotta start hitting. So, I could've done it on Mars and it would have felt satisfying. You know, I have to perform well, I've got to fit with these guys. I've got to do my job and you know, I have to do it ASAP and that was ASAP," Votto replied. Day then teased that it could be Votto's last time playing in the Blue Jay's stadium, but Votto wasn't thinking about that, his mind was set on the game and doing what he did best."I wasn't thinking like that," Votto said. "I'm thinking I'm in the middle of competition, our teams tied. I've got to get a good pitch to hit. I'm starting to feel better at the plate. I don't want to get cheated. I want to make sure that I'm being myself and competing well... When you're in the middle of work like this, that's the priority, you know? I'm wearing a Reds uniform right now in a road city. No question about, it has great meaning, but I'm not thinking about that right in the heart of competition."Votto also spoke about how returning to his hometown means a lot to him because he gets to see and spend time with his family that he doesn't normally see all the time. "I got to see my mother. You know, you go months, months without seeing family. And it's the nature of our job I wouldn't have any other way, but I got to see my little nephew and my brother and his and his wife. They got to play on the field yesterday after the game. It means a great deal to me to be able to see so many familiar faces and receive a ton of support in my home city," Votto told Day. The Cincinnati Reds will be back in action at Great American Ball Park on Monday against the Chicago Cubs, where hopefully Votto and the Reds can keep the ball rolling.

<p>
NOW OUR CHIEF METEOROLOGY. YOU HEARD HER BRAGGING THERE ABOUTN I THIS EVENT THIS YEAR. NO RAIN. THE QUESTION IS HOW LONGO D WE GET TO ENJOY ALL OF THIS? OH THE ENTIRETY OF THE WEEKEND. KNOW WEAD H SO MUCH RAIN RIGHT DURING THE MONTH OF MAY. WHAT THE FIFTH WETTESTAY M ON RECORD HERE IN CINCINNATI. IT IS NICE TO GO INTO THE FIRST FULL WEEKEND OF JUNE WITH A START LIKE THIS. HOW CANOU Y COMPLAINN O A FRIDAY? NO COMPLAINT? NO COMPLAINTS AT ALL ABOUT THE WEATHER. I MEAN IT REALLY IS GOING TO BE ABSOLUTELY SPECTACULAR FOR EARLY SUMMER THIS WEEKEND TEMPERATURES RIGHT NOW RESTING COMFORTLYAB FOR MOST OF US RIGHT AROUND THAT 80 DEGREE MARK AROUND THE TRI-AT80ST HAMILTON 81 IN FAIRFIELD, IT’S0 8 IN BELU ASHTON ANDERSON 80 CURRENTLY IN COLERAIN AND YOU KNOW WHAT WE GET THE ADDED BENEFIT RIGHT OF NO HUMIDITY OUT THERE. SO IT REALLY FEELS GREAT AND IT’S GOING TO STAY FEELING TTHA WAY RIGHT THROUGH THE DURATION OF THE WEEKEND. WE’RE GONNA KEEP THE HUMIDITY LEVELS IN CHECK AND WE’RE GOING TO KEEP IT RAIN FREE AND TTHA MEANS LOTS OF SUNSHINE,UT B MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THAT SUNSCREEN IF YOU’RE SPENDING TIME OUTDOORS THIS WEEKEND, WEEKEND, AND I KNOW YOU WILL. WITH THIS TYPE OF WEATHER. HERE’S YOUR HOUR BY HOURN O A FRIDAY NIGHT. NOT BAD AT ALL TEMPERATURES WILL BE INHE T 70S THROUGH ABOUT NINE O’CLOCK AND THEN YOU KNOW WITH ETH AIR COMFORTABLY DRY. IT DOESN’T ALLOW IT TO COOL OFF A LITTLE BIT MORE EFFICIENTLY. NIGHT, SO WE’LL TUMBLE INTO THE 60S AND EVENTUALLY MAYBE A LITTLE COOL LATE. JUST KEEP THAT IN MIND AFTER MIDNIGHT. WE'L’ GET DOWN INTO THE 50S. SO COMFORT FORECAST THROUGHHE T IS PLEASANT AROUND HERE. HUMIDITY LEVELS WLIL SURGE EARLY XTNE WEEK THAT’S ON MONDAY AND THAT WILL BE ACCOMPANIED WITH THE THREAT FOR SHOWERS AND STORMS BY THEN. BUT FOR NOW THOUGH, LOO AKT THIS, WE’VE SCOURED OUT ALL THE MUGGY AIR ACROSS THE OHIO AND TENNESSEE RIVER VALLEYS. REMEMBER THOSE DEW POINTS IN THE 60S AND 70S. THEY ARE NO MORE SO VERY COMFORTABLE THERE HAS SETTLED IN THAT KEEPS A C OAPN THE ATM. HEARING YOU KNOW, WHAT FUTURE CAST IS QUIET ASIDE FMRO A FEW PASSING CLOUDS VERY LITTLE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS WEEKEND AROUND THE AREA. SO YOU WANT TO GET THE CAR WASHED YOU’RE THINKING ABOUT DOING A LITTLE STAINING ON THE DECK IF YOU’VE GOT HOUSE CHORES GOING ON MAYBE GETTING OUT ON ONE OF THE RIVERS OR LAKES. NICE LOOKING WEEKEND. YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE DISTUEDRB BY SHOWERS AND STORMS OR CAMPING OUT THERE. YOU DON’T HAVE TO WORRY AUTBO ANY TYPE OF WEATHER THE TROPICS THOUGH ARE BUSY. WE ARE STILL TRACKING. WHAT’S A SLOWLY ORGAN? THING ORT A LEAST ATTEMPTING TO SO ALEX DOWN HERE IN THE EASTERN GULF OF MEXICO. THE CENTER OF CIRCULATION IS STILLRE PTTY DISPLACED FROM THE CORE OF SHOWER AND THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY. SO THE SYSMSTE UNDER A LOT OF WIND SHEAR. BASICALLY, WE’VE GOT WEST SOUTHWESTERLY WINDS RIPPING THE STORM APART. SO IT’S REALLY STRUGGLING TO ORGANIZE BUT I THINK THE IMPACTS WHETHER OR NOT IT GAINS A NAME OFFICIALLY THIS WEEKEND IS THE SAME YOU CAN ALREADY SEE ALL THESE BRIGHT COLORS. IN SHOWERS AND STORMS ACROSS CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN FLORIDA. SO FROM ANYWHEER FROM THE THEME PARKS SOUTH THIS WEEKEND IS ALL WASHED DOWN THERE AND FLORIDA IF YOU’REEA HDING THAT WAY FOR VACATION JUST SAY FOR EMPXALE AROUND HERE THOUGH. OUR WEATHER IS A VACATION 56 TONIGHT A LITTLE COOLUT O LATE FANTASTIC TOMORROW SUNNY AND 81. HERE’S YOUR DAY PLANNER STARTING OUT INHE T 50S AND THEN RISING INTO THE LOW 80S YOU’RE SEVEN DAY FORECAS ITS SHAKING OUT LIKE THIS THE NEXT CHANCE OF RAIN ON MONDAY TT NEXT WEATHER IMPACT DAY SUNDAY WILL FEEL A LITTLE BIT WARMER ARODUN HERE, BUT STILL NOT BAD. I CALL IT A POOL DAY 85 AND SUNNY SKIES. AND AGAIN YOUR RAIN ON MONDAY AND THEN SOME QUIET WEATHER FOR THEID MDL

Tommy Edman hit a two-run homer with two outs in the ninth inning for the first walkoff RBI of his major league career, lifting the St. Louis Cardinals over Cincinnati 5-4 on Saturday in yet another Reds bullpen collapse.Paul Goldschmidt’s streak of reaching base ended at 46 games with an 0-for-4 day for the NL Central-leading Cardinals.St. Louis pitcher Adam Wainwright and catcher Yadier Molina made their 316th start together, tying the Boston and Milwaukee Braves’ Warren Spahn and Del Crandall for second-most behind the 324 of Detroit’s Mickey Lolich and Bill Freehan.Wainwright, 40, was matched up against Cincinnati's 22-year-old Hunter Greene.Cincinnati led 4-1 in the eighth inning but blew a save for the seventh time in 17 chances, and the Cardinals won despite getting outhit 12-7.Tyler O'Neill, who had three RBIs, hit a two-run double off Hunter Strickland that pulled St. Louis to 4-3 in the eighth.Joel Kuhnel (0-1), a 27-year-old rookie right-hander, walked Dylan Carlson leading off the ninth but got Molina to ground into a double play.Juan Yepez singled and Edman reached down for a slider at the knees, driving the ball to right-center for his sixth home run and giving the Cardinals their third walkoff win this season.St. Louis (34-26) won the first two games of the three-game series and sent the NL-worst Reds (20-39) to their fourth straight loss and seventh defeat in nine games,Nick Wittgren (1-0) pitched a one-hit ninth for his first win with St. Louis.Wainwright allowed three runs and eight hits in seven innings.Greene gave up one run, two hits and two walks with seven strikeouts before being pulled after allowing the first two batters to reach base in the sixth. He topped 100 mph with five pitches and averaged 98.7 mph with his fastball.Tommy Pham put the Reds ahead with a two-run double in the third off Wainwright, his former teammate, and scored on Kyle Farmer's single for a 3-0 lead.O'Neill hit a sacrifice fly in the sixth and Alejo López, who had replaced an injured Colin Moran, hit an RBI single off Drew VerHagen in the eighth for a 4-1 lead.MOVESCincinnati claimed OF Stuart Fairchild off waivers from San Francisco and optioned him to Triple-A Louisville. RHP James Marinan was designated for assignment.TRAINER’S ROOMReds: Moran left in the bottom of the seventh after getting tangled with Dylan Carlson on a tag at first. Moran veered into Carlson’s path trying to field an errant throw from second baseman Matt Reynolds. Cardinals: LHP Steven Matz (left shoulder impingement) threw long toss in the outfield prior to the game. “He’s still feeling a little bit of that discomfort in the impingement,” Cardinals president of baseball operations John Mozeliak said. “Until you get past that hurdle, you’re not really cleared to take that next step forward. I know he’s going to be reassessed by our medical staff and, hopefully, he’s able to resolve that.” UP NEXTRHP Dakota Hudson (4-2, 2.76 ERA) is 6-0 against Cincinnati going into Sunday's start, joining David Weathers (8-0) as the only pitchers since 1901 with at least six decisions against the Reds and a perfect winning percentage. RHP Graham Ashcraft (3-0, 1.14 ERA) will be making his fifth career start in Sunday’s series finale.

<p>St. Louis pitcher Adam Wainwright and catcher Yadier Molina made their 316th start together, tying the Boston and Milwaukee Braves’ Warren Spahn and Del Crandall for second-most behind the 324 of Detroit’s Mickey Lolich and Bill Freehan.</p>
<p>Wainwright, 40, was matched up against Cincinnati's 22-year-old Hunter Greene.</p>
<p>Cincinnati led 4-1 in the eighth inning but blew a save for the seventh time in 17 chances, and the Cardinals won despite getting outhit 12-7.</p>
<p>Tyler O'Neill, who had three RBIs, hit a two-run double off Hunter Strickland that pulled St. Louis to 4-3 in the eighth.</p>
<p>Joel Kuhnel (0-1), a 27-year-old rookie right-hander, walked Dylan Carlson leading off the ninth but got Molina to ground into a double play.</p>
<p>Juan Yepez singled and Edman reached down for a slider at the knees, driving the ball to right-center for his sixth home run and giving the Cardinals their third walkoff win this season.</p>
<p>St. Louis (34-26) won the first two games of the three-game series and sent the NL-worst Reds (20-39) to their fourth straight loss and seventh defeat in nine games,</p>
<p>Nick Wittgren (1-0) pitched a one-hit ninth for his first win with St. Louis.</p>
<p>Wainwright allowed three runs and eight hits in seven innings.</p>
<p>Greene gave up one run, two hits and two walks with seven strikeouts before being pulled after allowing the first two batters to reach base in the sixth. He topped 100 mph with five pitches and averaged 98.7 mph with his fastball.</p>
<p>Tommy Pham put the Reds ahead with a two-run double in the third off Wainwright, his former teammate, and scored on Kyle Farmer's single for a 3-0 lead.</p>
<p>O'Neill hit a sacrifice fly in the sixth and Alejo López, who had replaced an injured Colin Moran, hit an RBI single off Drew VerHagen in the eighth for a 4-1 lead.</p>
<p>MOVES</p>
<p>Cincinnati claimed OF Stuart Fairchild off waivers from San Francisco and optioned him to Triple-A Louisville. RHP James Marinan was designated for assignment.</p>
<p>TRAINER’S ROOM</p>
<p>Reds: Moran left in the bottom of the seventh after getting tangled with Dylan Carlson on a tag at first. Moran veered into Carlson’s path trying to field an errant throw from second baseman Matt Reynolds. </p>
<p>Cardinals: LHP Steven Matz (left shoulder impingement) threw long toss in the outfield prior to the game. “He’s still feeling a little bit of that discomfort in the impingement,” Cardinals president of baseball operations John Mozeliak said. “Until you get past that hurdle, you’re not really cleared to take that next step forward. I know he’s going to be reassessed by our medical staff and, hopefully, he’s able to resolve that.” </p>
<p>UP NEXT</p>
<p>RHP Dakota Hudson (4-2, 2.76 ERA) is 6-0 against Cincinnati going into Sunday's start, joining David Weathers (8-0) as the only pitchers since 1901 with at least six decisions against the Reds and a perfect winning percentage. RHP Graham Ashcraft (3-0, 1.14 ERA) will be making his fifth career start in Sunday’s series finale.</p>

The ACC pitcher of the year has a high-octane arm and will look to bolster an already youthful Reds' roster, while aiding a pitching staff that has found themselves in the middle of the pack this season.

Raise your hand if you saw that coming from the Cincinnati Reds.Joey Votto lined a tiebreaking double in a three-run 10th inning for his second go-ahead hit of the night, and Cincinnati beat the New York Yankees 7-6 on Thursday to earn an unexpected series win.Last in the NL Central, the Reds got an outstanding outing from Luis Castillo and took two of three at Yankee Stadium from the top team in the majors. They blew a sizable lead for the second consecutive night, but this time recovered and held on to win for the sixth time in seven games overall. Boosted by a ninth-inning comeback in the opener Tuesday night, it's the first time they've won back-to-back series all season.“This whole series felt like a playoff series,” Cincinnati manager David Bell said. “It’s a great experience for our team and that’s how you get better.”It was only the sixth time in major league history a team with a winning percentage below .400 won a road series against an opponent with a .700 winning percentage 50 games into a season, according to STATS.The last time it happened was 2001, when the struggling Kansas City Royals upended Seattle. Before that, it hadn't happened in 46 years. New York has lost only four series all season and has won 20 of its last 24 home games.“It’s pretty special,” Reds shortstop Kyle Farmer said. “No one can take that away from us and it’s pretty cool.” Aaron Judge hit his major league-leading 31st home run to start a Yankees comeback in the eighth - one inning after he made a diving catch in center field.Gleyber Torres tied it 4-all with a two-run homer off Jeff Hoffman, costing Castillo a win. Matched up in a crisp duel with fellow All-Star Nestor Cortes, the right-hander pitched seven splendid innings of two-hit ball.“He's one of the best pitchers in the league,” Judge said. "He just didn’t leave too many mistakes for us to hit. When you have 100 (mph) and you’re painting the corners, that’s in for a tough day.” Tyler Stephenson followed Votto's double off Lucas Luetge (2-3) with an RBI double of his own, and Donovan Solano added a run-scoring single with two outs to make it 7-4.Matt Carpenter led off the bottom of the 10th with a two-run homer against winner Reiver Sanmartin (3-4), who got two outs in the ninth.New York tried to finish off yet another rally but Dauri Moreta got two outs for his first major league save, retiring DJ LeMahieu on well-struck drive to center field with two on to end it. Moreta said he got the game ball and will give it to his mother. Votto gave the Reds a 2-1 lead in the eighth with an RBI single off reliever Jonathan Loáisiga, just activated from the injured list. Farmer added a two-run single to make it 4-1.“Things didn't work out the way I wanted,” Loáisiga said through a translator. Castillo struck out eight and walked four, throwing 114 pitches in an impressive trade audition for contending clubs. “He’s nasty,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone said. “He was tough.”Cincinnati figures to be a seller ahead of the Aug. 2 deadline, and Castillo is a prime target for teams in need of starting pitching.“I’ve heard the rumors about being traded to the Yankees and stuff like that," he said through a translator. Votto said opposing hitters keep telling him how good Castillo's stuff is when they get to first base.“He was excellent. He seems to be getting hotter, so it’s been really fun to watch,” Votto said. “It’s the best I’ve seen him.” Anthony Rizzo doubled with one out in the sixth for New York's first hit. Judge, who had walked, went to third on the play and scored on Giancarlo Stanton's RBI groundout.Cortes also went seven innings, allowing four hits and a walk with four strikeouts. The only run he gave up came on Brandon Drury's shallow sacrifice fly to right that caught Carpenter, an inexperienced outfielder, off guard.Carpenter made the catch with the bases loaded but didn't look home right away, allowing Nick Senzel to score easily from third. TRAINER’S ROOMReds: Senzel returned to the starting lineup in center field. He was a late scratch Wednesday with back stiffness and was caught stealing as a pinch runner in the eighth. ... INF/DH Mike Moustakas was placed on the injured list without an injury designation, an indication the move was likely related to COVID-19 protocols. Cincinnati recalled INF/OF Max Schrock from Triple-A Louisville. ... RHP Luis Cessa (left intercostalis) planned to play catch. ... RHP Vladimir Gutiérrez is scheduled for Tommy John surgery next Wednesday.Yankees: RHP Luis Severino went on the 15-day injured list, one day after leaving his start with right shoulder tightness. Severino had an MRI that showed a low-grade strain to his right latissimus dorsi muscle. ... Loáisiga had been sidelined since May 23 with shoulder inflammation. ... OF Aaron Hicks (bruised right shin) sat out for the second consecutive game. ... RHP Domingo Germán, sidelined all season due to right shoulder impingement, is set to make another rehab start Friday for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.UP NEXTReds: Rookie RHP Hunter Greene (3-10, 5.70 ERA) faces Cardinals RHP Andre Pallante (2-4, 3.18) in the opener of a three-game series Friday night at St. Louis.Yankees: LHP Jordan Montgomery (3-2, 3.19 ERA) faces visiting Boston in the opener of a three-game series Friday night. The longtime rivals split a four-game set last weekend at Fenway Park. RHP Nathan Eovaldi (4-2, 3.16) is expected to return from injury to start for the struggling Red Sox against his former team. Eovaldi has been sidelined since June 9 with lower back inflammation.

Jose Barrero hit a tiebreaking RBI single in Cincinnati's three-run fifth inning, and the Reds stopped a five-game slide with an 8-5 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Sunday.“It meant a lot that I could contribute to the victory," Barrero said through an interpreter. “I felt better today. I still have to work on a couple things. I’m working on cutting down on my swing and try to hit it up the middle.”Aristides Aquino hit a three-run drive for Cincinnati, and Austin Romine doubled home two runs. It was Aquino's first homer since he hit two against the Cubs on May 23.“I didn’t really think about my last home run when I went to the plate," Aquino said. "I just enjoyed the game and the process and do my best.”It was the Reds' highest scoring game since an 8-2 victory over Baltimore on July 30.Joel Kuhnel (2-1) pitched two scoreless innings for the win. Alexis Díaz struck out Nelson Velázquez and Ian Happ with the bases loaded in the eighth before finishing his fifth save.“To come in that spot and not give up any runs is huge," Reds manager David Bell said. "You expect that he will give up a run and we still hold the lead, but to completely shut it down against those two hitters is really special. I think for any pitcher to get five outs to end the game is special. He had been sidelined by a right shoulder strain.Chicago right-hander Keegan Thompson lasted just 1 2/3 innings. He was charged with four runs and two hits.“He was getting ahead in the count, 0-2 and 1-2, but he couldn't put them away,” Ross said. “They hit a lot of foul balls that turned into walks. The Cincinnati Reds have been nothing short of electric during the first half of the season. A lot of that firepower comes from the young offense, but it wasn't a position player that got the call for this years All-Star game.It was Reds star closer, Alexis Diaz (3-1, 2.19, 23 sv), who received enough votes to represent Cincinnati during All-Star week in July. When asked how it felt to be selected, Díaz said the first thing he did was call his brother, Edwin, to share the news. This is Diaz's second season at the professional level and he has not shied away from any competition. This season Diaz has posted some terrific numbers. The closer has only allowed 19 walks, while fanning 58 batters over 37 innings pitched. That's three strikeouts per walk.To add to that, Diaz has only allowed 19 hits and nine earned runs over 38 games.Diaz tallied his 23rd save of the season this Sunday and will make his first All-Star game appearance on July 11.

IF I HAD YOU, KEVIN, A COUPLE OF NIGHTS AGO THAT SHE’D PLAY TO 1120. NO RAIN. WOULD YOU HAVE BELIEVED IT? I CERTAINLY A POSSIBILITY BECAUSE IN THESE TYPES SET UPS, IT’S REALLY HARD TO SAY EXACTLY WHEN AND WHERE THE STORMS WILL OCCUR. WE KNOW THAT THEY’RE GOING TO HAPPEN. AND AS I SAID IT’S GOING TO RAIN EACH DAY OVER THE WEEKEND. REMEMBER, IT RAINED THIS MORNING AND WE’VE GOT MORE STORMS COMING IN HERE. IN SHORT ORDER. SO IT’S ABOUT TO STORM AGAIN. THIS WILL REPEAT ITSELF ON SATURDAY AND AGAIN ON SUNDAY. SO YOU JUST HAVE TO TUNE IN FOR FREQUENT UPDATES. WE WERE FORTUNATE BECAUSE WE WEDGED OURSELVES BETWEEN TWO STORMS, ONE TO THE SOUTH, ONE AREA OF STORMS TO OUR NORTH. THAT’S STILL ONGOING. BUT NOW THERE ARE STORMS BEGINNING TO DEVELOP WHERE THERE HAS BEEN AVOID RADAR. IT’S VERY QUIET. BUT LET ME SHOW YOU JUST ON OUR DOORSTEP, WE HAVE SOME INTENSE STORMS DROPPING SOUTH OF I-70, WORKING THEIR WAY DOWN INTERSTATE 74 HERE TONIGHT, ALMOST NON LIGHTNING WITH THESE DOWNPOURS. MOST OF THEM ARE JUST BELOW SEVERE THRESHOLD, BUT I’D KEEP AN EYE ON IT. I WON’T RULE OUT BECAUSE IT IS STILL VERY WARM, VERY HUMID TONIGHT. AND THE INGREDIENTS ARE AT LEAST SUPPORTIVE OF STRONG TO MARGINALLY SEVERE STORMS. SO NASTY WEATHER NOW MOVING INTO FAYETTE UNION COUNTY’S LIBERTY OVER TOWARDS CONNERSVILLE. AND YOU CAN SEE HOW THESE STORMS ARE MARCHING THEIR WAY DOWN. NEXT IN LINE, FRANKLIN COUNTY, THEN RIPLEY COUNTY. AND THEN IT LOOKS LIKE EVENTUALLY DOWN TOWARDS THE 275 LOOP AFTER MIDNIGHT. SO LUCKY THIS EVENING THAT WE WERE ABLE TO GET EVERYTHING IN WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS. TEMPERATURES ARE VERY WARM. SO THOSE STORMS WILL NOT LIKELY WEAKEN. THEY’RE GOING TO KEEP GOING THROUGH THE NIGHT TONIGHT. SO GOOD THING THE CONCERT HAS WRAPPED UP WHEN IT HAS, THIS WILL GIVE FOLKS SOME TIME TO GET HOME AND GET SETTLED BEFORE THE STORMY WEATHER MOVES IN. IT’S 77 DEGREES OUTSIDE. LOOK AT OUR DEW POINT. YOU WALK OUTSIDE TONIGHT, IT FEELS LIKE STORMY WEATHER, RIGHT? IT FEELS LIKE IT COULD STORM AT ANY POINT. SO THE THREAT FOR SHOWERS AND STORMS GOING UP FROM THIS POINT FORWARD THROUGH THE NIGHT TONIGHT, I THINK IN THE MORNING THERE WILL STILL BE SOME LINGERING STORMS AROUND THE AREA. THE FORECAST HASN’T CHANGED. IT’S ALL ABOUT TRACKING STORM CLUSTERS THROUGH THE WEEKEND. IT’S JUST REALLY TRICKY ON WHERE THEY DO DEVELOP AND THE EXACT TIME ON THEM. WE’RE IN THAT RING FIRE. BASICALLY, WE’RE ON THE PERIPHERY OF SOME REAL INTENSE AND HUMIDITY. SO WHEN IT’S NOT STORMING, IT’S GOING TO BE AWFULLY HOT LIKE IT WAS THIS EVENING. BUT WE’LL WATCHING ROUNDS OF SHOWERS AND STORMS COME OUT OF THE MIDWEST. IN FACT, YOU CAN SEE HOW QUIET IT IS. NOW, LOOK WHAT WAS UP THERE THIS MORNING. THAT’S WHAT WAS THERE THIS EVENING. AND NOW WE HAVE STORMS FILLING IN IN BETWEEN THE TWO. SO FUTURE CASH SHOWS YOU WELL, AGAIN, NOT DOING A GOOD JOB ON PREDICTING THESE STORMS BECAUSE BY 1 A.M. THESE STORMS, I CAN ALMOST WITH CERTAINTY SAY THERE WILL BE STORMS IN THE TRI STATE. BUT THE THEME IS IT TURNS STORMY OR THROUGH THE NIGHT PROBABLY WILL HAVE SOME STORMS AROUND IN THE MORNING AS WELL. THEN WE’LL GET A LITTLE BREAK IN THE AFTERNOON, MUCH LIKE WE HAD TODAY WITH SOME STEAMY SUNSHINE. I’M NOT SO SURE. CONCERT GOERS TOMORROW NIGHT WILL BE AS FORTUNATE TONIGHT BECAUSE I DO THINK THERE’S A GREATER TOMORROW NIGHT THAT STORMS COULD HAVE AN IMPACT ON EVENTS AROUND THE AREA. LOOK AT THIS. HERE WE ARE SUNDAY AFTERNOON. MORE STORMS AROUND THE AREA. REMEMBER, ANY TIME WE HAVE THESE STORMS ALL SEVERE WEATHER HAZARDS ARE ON THE TABLE, PRIMARILY WIND AND HAIL CONCERNS. BUT MAYBE NOT JUST LIMITED TO THOSE. SO HUMID WITH STORMS MOVING IN HERE OVERNIGHT AT 68, EARLY RAIN AND STORMS TOMORROW. THEN MUGGY SUNSHINE FOLLOWED BY MORE STORMS. 86 FOR AN AFTERNOON HIGH. HERE’S A LOOK AT YOUR DAY PLANNER SHOWING THE BREAK. KIND OF IN THE AFTERNOON INTO THE EARLY EVENING. HERE’S YOUR SEVEN DAY FORECAST. SO BASICALLY IT’S REPEAT CYCLE SATURDAY, SUNDAY, WEATHER IMPACT DAYS. FORTUNATELY, IT DOES LOOK LIKE MONDAY. WE’LL BREAK THE PATTERN HERE. SHOULD START TO TURN A LITTLE LESS HUMID FOR US AND SHOULD DRY IT OUT. HEADING INTO INDEP

<p>NEW YORK (AP) — Slick-fielding third baseman Scott Rolen was elected to baseball’s Hall of Fame on Tuesday with five votes to spare above the 75% needed.</p>
<p>The seven-time All-Star and eight-time Gold Glove winner appeared on 297 of 389 ballots cast by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America for 76.3%. A player needed 292 votes for election.</p>
<p>He became the 18th third baseman elected to the Hall, the fewest of any position.</p>
<p>Rolen’s 76.3% of the vote was the smallest margin for an electee since Al Simmons got 199 votes in 1953 for 75.38%, one more vote than needed. Ferguson Jenkins (75.4% in 1991), Ralph Kiner (75.41% in 1975) and Willie Keeler (75.55% in 1939) made it with one ballot to spare.</p>
<p>First baseman Todd Helton was second with 281 (72.2%) and reliever Billy Wagner third with 265 (68.1%)</p>
<p>Rolen will join Fred McGriff, elected last month by the contemporary baseball era committee, as the inductees at Cooperstown on July 23.</p>
<p>Among 14 players appearing on the ballot for the first time, Carlos Beltrán received 181 votes. Beltrán’s vote total likely was impacted by his role in the Houston Astros cheating scandal en route to the 2017 World Series title.</p>
<p>Rolen increased his votes from 63.2% last year and 10.2% in his first ballot appearance in 2018.</p>
<p>Helton moved up from 52% and can have five more appearances, while Wagner rose from 51% and has two additional chances.</p>
<p>Next year’s first-time eligibles include Adrián Beltré, Joe Mauer, David Wright, José Bautista and Matt Holliday.</p>

The Cincinnati Reds showed support for a 10-year-old girl with terminal cancer by inviting her to throw out the ceremonial first pitch before Sunday's game.Ten-year-old Aralyn Slack was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor last month and was given just 10 months to live.Aralyn, who plays softball, has created a bucket list of things she wants to do over the next year, and many community members and businesses have stepped up to help her cross things off her list."People have been amazing. She had a bucket list. One checked off," Aralyn's dad said.Slack has DIPG, the same kind of brain tumor basketball player Lauren Hill was diagnosed with eight years ago.Doctors say Slack has less than a year to live.Earlier this month, WLWT, a Hearst sister station, spoke with some of Slack's softball coaches and teammates, who have been doing whatever they could to support their friend.“She is the kindest person I know and the greatest friend,” said her teammate Livy Waits. “She's a goofball.”The team was determined to make their home opener, and Slack’s last game before treatment, one to remember.“We’re going to treat it as a varsity game,” Waits said. The game was originally supposed to be played on the road, an hour away in New Richmond, Ohio. But Waits asked if the opposing team would mind if they played at home.“I can't explain how important it is for us adults to put on the show for her and allow her to experience everything that she can get out of it,” Waits said.“To me, it's not about the game,” said Michael Trummer, head coach of 9U Felicity Diamond Does. “It's about this little girl having the time of her life.”

EVERY DAY, DOESN’T COMPLAIN. SO EVERY MORNING, 40 TIMES HE HAS TO DO THAT. THEN HE COMES IN, HE DOES HIS NORMAL. JUST SO GLAD THAT HE IS BACK WITH US. YOU’RE NOT GOING TO WANT TO MISS THAT STORY. ALL RIGHT. SO WHAT ABOUT THE WEEKEND FORECAST HERE AT RAINY, ALREADY OUT THERE TONIGHT IN SOME PARTS? IS THAT GOING TO LINGER INTO SATURDAY? MAYBE THE FIRST FEW HOURS OF SATURDAY MORNING? BUT I THINK THE REST OF YOUR SATURDAY, FOR EXAMPLE, IT’S GRADUATION SEASON. FOLKS ARE HAVING GRADUATION PARTIES. THE WHOLE FAMILY’S OVER. NEIGHBORHOODS OVER. THOSE ARE FINE. TOMORROW EVENING, YOU WON’T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH THOSE TYPES OF OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES IN A BIG SOCCER MATCH. OF COURSE, TOMORROW NIGHT TO, NO PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER. WEATHER WISE. WHAT A BONUS FRIDAY NIGHT. WE WERE ABLE TO SQUEEZE OUT AROUND HERE, RIGHT? IT WAS FANTASTIC. AND YOU KNOW WHAT? IT EVEN FELT LIKE AN SUMMER LIKE TYPE OF EVENING FOR US HERE IN THE TRI-STATE. THE RAIN HELD OFF LONG ENOUGH TO GET THE FIREWORKS, TO GET THE REDS AND YANKEES IN. NOW WE’RE STARTING TO SEE IT FINALLY SCOOT INTO PARTS OF SOUTHEAST INDIANA. I DO WANT TO DRAW YOUR ATTENTION TO SOMETHING, THOUGH. AND IF YOU LOOK AT THIS GREEN LINE, THAT STRETCHING FROM MIAMI’S BERG, THE MIDDLE, MIDDLETOWN TO HAMILTON NOW ENTERING THE WESTERN PART OF HAMILTON COUNTY, IF YOU GO OUT AS THIS PASSES, PROBABLY IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF MINUTES, FOR SOME OF US, YOU’RE GOING TO FEEL A NICE LITTLE COOL BREEZE. THAT’S FROM THE RAIN AND THOSE DOWNPOURS THAT ARE BACK IN INDIANA STILL AT THIS POINT. BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, WHAT IT SIGNALS TO ME HERE IN THE WEATHER CENTER IS THE FACT THAT. NOTICE HOW THE RED AND YELLOW IS REALLY FALLING OUT OF THESE THOSE THUNDERSTORMS HAVE COLLAPSED, MEANING THAT, YOU KNOW WHAT, THEY’RE NOT GOING TO GET ANY STRONGER THAN WHAT THEY ARE RIGHT NOW. SO I DON’T EXPECT A LOT OF THUNDER AND LIGHTNING THROUGH THE NIGHT TONIGHT. THERE COULD BE SOME A COUPLE OF RUMBLES, BUT NOTHING YOU NEED TO BE WORRIED ABOUT. SO HERE COMES THE RAIN BEGINNING TO MOVE IN TOWARDS OXFORD. THERE ARE A FEW POCKETS OF HEAVY RAIN AS YOU HEAD UP 27 INTO THE NORTHWESTERN PARTS OF BUTLER COUNTY. THEN SOME POCKETS OF HEAVY TO MODERATE RAIN DOWN AROUND THE BROOKVILLE AREA. BROOKVILLE LAKE. BUT AGAIN, NOTICE AS THIS ALL KEEPS MOVING EAST, IT KEEPS REALLY FADING AWAY. SO WHILE IT LOOKS LIKE AROUND MIDNIGHT, THE RAIN BEGINS FOR SOME OF US, AS THIS IS FALLING APART, THAT COULD DELAY THE ARRIVAL FOR SOME OF YOU. AGAIN, SAME STORY OUT TOWARDS GREENSBURG, MOVING IN TOWARDS THE BATESVILLE AREA. IT’S A LITTLE WET OUT HERE NOW AND RIPLEY COUNTY, BUT THIS WILL TREND THE TREND WILL BE FOR THE RAIN TO GET LESS AND LESS INTENSE OVERALL AS SEE THIS AREA OF SHOWERS SCOOT ITS WAY ACROSS THE HEART OF THE TRI-STATE HERE THROUGH THE REMAINDER OF THE NIGHT. SO OUTSIDE RIGHT NOW, HERE’S A LIVE LOOK DOWNTOWN WOULD KNOW IT WAS A BOUT TO RAIN ON YOU OUTSIDE 67 DEGREES OFFICIALLY HERE AND CINCINNATI AT THE MOMENT. HERE’S A 12 HOUR FORECAST. TEMPERATURES WILL STAY IN THE SIXTIES TONIGHT. THEN WE’LL DROP INTO THE FIFTIES RIGHT BEFORE THE SUN COMES UP IN THE MORNING. AND AGAIN, IT’S ONLY THE FIRST HOUR OR TWO OF THE DAY WHERE RAIN WILL IMPACT YOUR SATURDAY. YOU CAN SEE THOSE SHOWERS IF THEY AS THEY FALLING APART, AS THEY MOVE OUR WAY, THE COLD FRONT IS STILL LAGGING A LITTLE BIT BEHIND. WATCH FUTURE CASTS HERE. YOU CAN SEE IT BASICALLY IS DISPLAYING EXACTLY WHAT WE’RE SEEING HAPPENING HERE ON RADAR. SO FOR SOME OF US, IT VERY WELL COULD BE EVEN LATER THAN MIDNIGHT, MAYBE TWO, 3 A.M. BEFORE THE RAIN GETS HERE. AGAIN, I’M NOT EXPECTING A LOT OUT THERE WET FIRST THING SATURDAY MORNING, ESPECIALLY EAST OF CINCINNATI, WEST OF CINCINNATI. YOU’RE DRYING OUT PRETTY QUICKLY BY SUNRISE BY 9 A.M., THE RAIN IS BACK. BASICALLY JUST THE BACK EDGE IN OUR EASTERNMOST COMMUNITIES. SO THAT LEAVES THE REST OF YOUR SATURDAY TO BE BEAUTIFUL. GREAT FOR. THE SOCCER GAME TOMORROW NIGHT, THEN BEAUTIFUL WEATHER IN HERE ON SUNDAY AS WELL. SO JUST A LITTLE RAIN, A NICE WEEKEND AND THEN IT LOOKS LIKE WE DIAL UP THE HEAT AS WE WORK OUR WAY TOWARDS MEMORIAL DAY. SO COOLER LATE TONIGHT AS THE RAIN ARRIVES THERE. COULD BE A RUMBLE OF THUNDER OUT THERE TOMORROW. ANY WET WEATHER OUT EARLY SUNSHINE GETS IN HERE FAST, I SHOULD SAY, AS BASICALLY SALVAGE A VERY NICE LOOKING SATURDAY. AND THAT TAKES US THROUGH THE REST OF YOUR WEEKEND, YOUR SEVEN DAY FORECAST HERE IT IS, MIKE AND SHERRY. WHAT A LOVELY SEVEN DAY, ESPECIALLY THIS TIME OF THE YEAR. LOOKING GOOD RIGHT NOW. AND I KNOW THIS IS WHAT FESTIVAL ORGANIZERS WOULD WANT FOR THE TASTE OF CINCINNATI GOING INTO MEMORI

<p>NEW YORK (AP) — Trevor Bauer’s administrative leave has been extended through Aug. 20 by Major League Baseball and the players’ association while the sport’s investigators check into allegations of sexual misconduct against the Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher. </p>
<p>Bauer was placed on seven days’ paid leave July 2 under the joint domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse policy adopted by MLB and the players’ union in 2015. MLB and the union have agreed to several extensions. </p>
<p>Police in Pasadena, California, and MLB are investigating the allegations made against Bauer by a woman who says the pitcher choked her to the point where she lost consciousness and punched her during two sexual encounters this year. </p>
<p>The pitcher’s agents have disputed the allegations.</p>

<p>CINCINNATI — A limited number of Cincinnati Reds single-game tickets for the upcoming season will go on sale <a class="Link" href="https://www.mlb.com/reds">online</a> March 17 at 9 a.m.</p>
<p>Ticket windows open at Great American Ball Park the next day 9 a.m. The sale excludes tickets for Opening Day.</p>
<p>This season, all tickets will be issued digitally via the MLB Ballpark app for contactless entry, including tickets purchased at ball park windows.</p>
<p>Pre-sale opportunities begin March 15, when season ticket members can buy single-game admission online. On March 16, paid vouchers from 2020 or account credit single game go on sale online.</p>
<p>Like many aspects of life amid the coronavirus pandemic, this year's ball park experience will look a little different. Masks will be mandatory for all fans, and masks should properly cover the nose and mouth unless you're eating or drinking in a seat.</p>
<p>Fans will be seated in socially distanced pods for up to six per group to keep fans 6 feet apart while watching the game. All concessions and merchandise stands will go contactless and cashless. The ball park also has a new policy prohibiting backpacks.</p>
<p>Find information about tickets, the Reds' <a class="Link" href="https://www.mlb.com/reds/schedule/2021-04">schedule</a> and more here.</p>
<p>The MLB opens the season on April 1, when the Reds host the St. Louis Cardinals at 4:10 p.m., and the league expects to play 162 games in the 2021 season. </p>
<p>Meanwhile, the Reds Opening Day Parade has been postponed until Great American Ball Park can safely accommodate fans at full capacity, according to parade organizer Findlay Market Association. Last month, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine announced that sports stadiums will be allowed to fill seats to 30% capacity.</p>
<p>In 2020, the pandemic shut down spring training in March and delayed Opening Day until July. Teams played a 60-game schedule with an expanded postseason, and games were played without fans in stands.</p>

<p>
TO KEVIN NOW AND A LOT OF TIMES THIS TIME OF YEAR. HE TALKS ABOUT POP-UP STORMS WHERE YOU SEE THINGS HERE AND THERE LIKE POPCORN EVERYWHERE. THIS DOESN’T LOOK LIKE A POP BUT THIS THIS IS WALL OF WATER COMING OUR WAY. YEAH, THIS IS ANOTHER ONE TO TWO INCHES OF RAIN PER HOUR HERE AND THIS IS TROUBLING FOR THE OVERNIGHT HOURS BECAUSE SOME FOLKS HAVE ALREADY SEEN TWO TO FIVE INCHES OFAIN R JUST THIS EVENING AND I THINK THAT THREAT FOR HEAVIER RAIN MAY BE MOVING INTO MORE POPULATED AREAS WHILE WE SLEEP TONIGHT BEFORE WE GET OVER TO THE RADAR. LET’S SEE, CANE W PULL UP THE CREW TO OUR CAM CATCH THE FIREWORKS DOWNTOWN RIGHT NOW, SO IFOU Y HEAR THAT OUTSIDE THE STUDIO HERE GREAT SHOW GOING ON RIGHT NOW, MAYBE NOT SO GOOD FOR THE REDS TONIGHT AND OBVIOUSLY GEORGE WILL TALK A LOT. ABOUT THAT HERE AND JUST A MOMENT, BUT BOY FANS THAT ARE HANGING AROUND PT-OSGAME OUT THERE BE PREPARED TO GET DRENCHED BECAUSE MOTHER NATURE IS AUTBO TO PROVIDE HER OWN FIREWORKS RIGHT NOW. YOU CAN LITERALLY SEE THE WALL OF WATER THAT IS LINED UP HERE JUST TO THE WEST OF INTERSTATE 75 AND MOVING IN. TLE ME TAKE YOU UP NORTH FIRST YOU’VE HAD OFF AND ON DOWNPOURS AROUND HEREHR TOUGHTOU THE EVENING THROUGH BUTLER WARREN COUNTIES. YOU ARE SOME OF THE FOLKS THAT HAVE SEEN SOME OF THE TERRITIAL RAIN ALREADY MANY FOLKS UP HERE NORTH OF THE 275. LOOP AROUND AN INCH OR SO OF RAIN THIS EVENING. IT’S NOW BEGINNING TO BUILD BACK IN FROM THE SOUTH AND WEST AND YOU CAN SEE HERE BOY THE RAIN HELDFF OOR F THE GAME. IT WAS SO CLOSE. YOU COULD HEAR THUNDER AT THE ONSET OF THE FIRST PITCH THERE, BUT IT STAYED JUST TO THE WEST BUT NOW IT’S FINALLY BEGINNING TO MAKETS I MOVE IN AND YOU CAN SEE A LOT OF LIGHTNING COMING OUT OF SOUTHEAST INDIANA TOWARDS SAILOR PARK OVER IN THE DIRECTION OF CHEVY AND DELHI, MIAMI TOWN NEW HAVEN HARRISON JATERA WAS UP HERE IN HARRISON. SO THIS IS ALL MOVING NOW. JUST NORTHEAST. SO IF YOU’RE AT THE AIRPORT DELHI CHEVIOT FINNEYTOWN WYOMING COLERAIN, YOU’RELL A ABOUT TO GET REALLY SOCKED WITH. RAINFALL IF YOU START HEARING THAT THUNDER WE’RE KIND OF RUMBLING OFF IN THE DISTANCE. IN FACT, YOUAN C SEE THESE RAINFALL RATES OVER AN INCH AND A HALF ONE TO TWO INCHES PER HOUR AND THAT’S WHAT’S SO TROUBLING THAT WATER JUST RUNS OFF BECAUSE THE GROUND IS SO SATURATED. IT MOVES ACROSS BOONE INTO KEN CAMPLLBE COUIENTS HEAVY RAIN FROM FLORENCE TO UNION BACK TOWARDS THE OOHI RIVER THERE ALONG PATRIOT AND WARSAW BACK TOWARDS BB BIG DOWNPOURS GOING UP NOWO T THE SOUTH AND WEST OF OWENTON AS WELL. LET ME PUT THIS MOTION AND YOU SEE WHAT’S HAPPENING, RIGHT THESE CLUSTERS OF STOSRMRE A MOVING FROM SOUTHWEST TO NORTHEAST AND WHAT THAT ALLOWS TO HAPPENS I FOR THAT THESE LINES OR CLUSTERS THAT BASICALLY RAIN OVER THE SAME AREA. SO HERE’S ONE AND HERE’S ANOTHER ONE DEVELOPING AND THIS EVENING. THAT’S ALL BEEN IN INDIANA FOR THE MOST PART AND JUST OUTSIDE OF THE 275 LUBE, BUT NOW THAT SEEMS TO BE SHIFTING MORE TOWARDS THE MORE URBAN CENTER PARTS OF METRO THAN DOWN THROUGH NORTHERN, KENTUCKY. DAN TH’T'S WHY I THINK THE FLOOD CONCERN IS STILL QUITE REAL EVEN INTO THE OVERNIGHT HOURS TONIGHT. SO IF YOU HAVEN’T HAD EXCESSIVE RAIN YET YOUR TNUR IS MORE THAN LIKELY COMING AGAIN. YOU CAN SEE IT’S BEEN CONSIDERABLY LSES ONCE YOU GET WEST OF 75, BUT LOOK AT THIS OMFR BUTLER COUNTY THROUGH FRANKLIN AND THE RIPLEY COUNTY WHERE WE’VE ALREADY HAD LOTS OF FLOOD REPORTS TWO TO FIVE INCHES OF RAIN HAS ALREADY FALLEN AND I THINK WE’REON GNA ADD TO THAT. SO IT IS GOOD. WE HAVE THE FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT. WE’VE GOT TWO FLOOD WARNINGS, RIGHT? NOW THEY’RE ALL IN SOUTHEAST INDIANA, BUT I’M FAIRLY CERTAIN. WE’RE GOING TO SEE MORE FLOOD WARNINGS ISSUED OVER THE OVERNIGHT INTO THE IMMEDIATE METRO SO YOU CAN SEE HOW THESE CLUSTERS OF STORMS HAVE JUST BEEN BASICALLY ROAMING FROM SOUTHWEST TO NORTHEAST TRAINING. THAT’S WHAT WE CALL IT OVER THE SAME AREA THAT’S GOING TO HAPPEN UNTIL WE GET A COLD FRONT. THAT WON’T COME THROUGH UNTIL SUNDAY. SO WE’LL KEEP THE THREAT FOR OFF AND ON DOWNPOURS AT ALMOST ANY TIME THROUGHHE T MAJORITY OF THE WEEKEND. SO THE RAIN IS VERY HIGH TONIGHT VERY HIGH ON SATURDAY AS WELL AND HIGH ON SUNDAY, EVEN THOUGH IT WON’T BE A COMPLETE WASHOUT WATCH WHAT HAPPENS HERE? THIS IS THE REASON MY CONCERN FOR HEAVY RAIN OVERNIGHT NOTICE HOW THE STORMS JUST KIND OF MOVE REPEATEDLY OVER THE METRO FOR SEVERAL HOURS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT. THAT’S WHY WE COULD PICK UP SOME EXCESSIVE RAIN. IT WILL BEGIN THE TAPER OFF MID-MORNGIN TOMORROW, BUT I STILL THINK WE’VE GOT SCATTERED DOWNPOURS THAT WILL FLARE UP RIDUNG THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING COULD IMPACT SOME OF THE BASEBALL. TOOWMORR EVENING, BUT PROBABLY TO A LESSER DEGREE. SO OUTSIDE RIGHT NOW AS THEY CONTINUE TO FIREWORKS 72 WITH THUNDER AT THE AIRPORT. IT’S VYER MGYUG OUT TEMPERATURES ARE GENERALLY IN THE UPPER 60S TO RIGHT AUNROD 70 DEGREES AND THEY WON’T DROP MUCH OVERNIGHT TONIGHT WITH SHOWERS AND STORMS BASICALLY CONTINUING THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT AGAIN, THE SEVERE THREAT IS VERY LOW, BUT IT’S PRIMARILY A FLOOD CONCERN. SO SOME OF THAT RAIN WILL BE LOCALLY HEAVY DOWN THE 69 TOMORROW LOW 80S FOR A HIGH. IT’S ANOERTH WEATHER IMPACT DAY. MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH MORE SCATTERED DOWN PORES AND YOU THE OFF AND ON RAIN CHANCES PRETTY MUCH GOING THROUGHOUT THE DAY. HERE’S YOUR SEVEN DAY FORECAST ONCE WE GET PAST THE WEEKEND, MIKE AND SHARIA DOES LOOK DRYER AS WE HEAD INTO MONDAY AND TUESDAY. ALL RIGHT, APPRECIATE THE UPDATE KENVI BACK OUTSIDE WE GO. OUR PHOTOGRAPHER. ERIC CROSS WAS ON 275. HE WENT ON TO 74 EAST AND HE JUST GOT OFF ON HARRISON. HE’S DRIVING THROUGH. HE’S UPT A A TRAFFIC LIGHT THERE. YOU CAN SEE ALL OF THAT STANDING WATER OUT ON THE ROAD RIGHTOW N AND IN THE BACKGROUND FROM TIME TO TIME A LITTLE BIT OF A LIGHT SHOW AS YOU APPROACH. CINCINNATI AND IF YOU’RE AT THE BALLPARK WATCHING THE FIREWORKS, YOU BETTER GET OUT OF THERE IN A HURRY BECAUSE THIS STUFF IS COMING THROUGH THE REAL STUFF ANY MOMENT NOW, SO KEVIN WILL HAVE AN UPDATE AGAIN

KEVIN: PREYTT HURTS, THAT’S A BEYOENC SONG, IT REALLY DOES HURT. BE PREPAREDOR F WHAT WEATHER, IT IS NOT THE NEW STUFF IN YOUR CLOSET THIS WEEKEND, IT LOOKS WET OFF AND ON THROUGH THE EKWEEND. HERE IS WHAT TO EXPECT AS WE HEAD INTO YOUR THURSDAY. TODAY, A COMPLETELY DRY DAY. WE DID NOT HAVE A SINGLE DOWNPOUR ON THE RADAR THIS AFTERNNOO, BUT THAT IS LIKELY TO CHANGE. IT IS OYNL FITTI AS WEN WORK OUR WAY TOWARD AN INCREASINGLY WET WEATHER PATTEGRN STEAMY BUT I DID INCREA ASE CHANCE FOR DOWNPOURS TOMORROW, I HAD IT AT FIVEND A SIX -- LOW AT 5:00 AND 6:00, T BUI BUMPED ITO T MEDIUM, THERE’S A 50-50 SHOT TOP OF THE COMMUNITIES SEE A BRIEF DOWNPOUR. THE POTENTIAL IS THERE TO SEE SOME RAIN TOMORROW AFTERNOON AND EVENING. FOR THEAS PT COUPLE OF DAYS, THE CHANCES SKYROCKETRI FDAY INTO SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. IT HAS BEEN A SUNLESS SUMMER SO FAR. IT ONLY HAD SEVEN 90 DEGREE DAYS SO FAR. EVEN HOW GREEN EVERYTHING IS IN ALL THE MOISTURE IN THE SOIL, IT’S GOING TO BE HARD TO GET ABOVE 90 DEGREES UNTIL WE GET A STRETCH OF DRYER WEATHER AROUND HERE. DURING THE MTHON OF JUNE, WE WERE GREATER THAN 200% OF OUR NORMAL RAINFALL FOR THE MONTH OF JUNE. THAT IS THE REAN SOWHY, IT’S NOT URYO IMAGINATION, IT’S BEEN INCREDIBLY WET. FOR JULY, WE ARE ALREADY HALF AN INCH ABOVE NORMAL NAND WE ARE GOING TODD A TO THAT TSHI WEEKEND. NOT THE BEST CONDITIONS FOR THE HOME GESAM AGASTIN -- FOR THE REDS AGAINST THE BREWE.RS YOU HAVE A BETTER SHOT SATURDAY OF GETTING IT IN, PROBABLY ON SUNDAY, BUT FRIDAY IS THE DAY I AM MOST CONCERNED ABOUT. WE ARE BETWEEN WEATHER SYSTEMS, THERE IS A COLD FRONT TONIGHT MOVING TOWARD THE GREAT LAKES. IF YOU THINK BACK, IT IS THE SAME WEATHER PATTERN FROM LAST WEEKEND. THIS FRONT IS GOING TO DROP TOWARD THE OHIO, POTENTIALLY BRGIN US OFTEN ON FREQUENT SHOWER AND THUNDERSTM ORCHANCES. IT IS QUIET TONIGHT, IT IS QUIET WHEN Y WOUAKE UP IN THE MORNING, SHOULD BE PLENTY OF SUNSHINE. WE ARE GOOD THROUGH NO,ON WATCH WHAT HAPPENS COME 3:00, 4:00, THE DOWNPOURS MOVE ACROSS THE HEART OF THE TRI-STATE THROUGH THE EVENING COMMUTE AND THEN THEY FADE AYAW. HOWEVER, WATCH WHAT HAPPENS OVERNITGH TOMORROW INTO FRIDAY AS THOSE DOWNPOURS FADE. THE LDCO FRONT BEGINS TO APPROACH, SHOWERS AND STORMS OVERNIGHT THURSDAY INTO FRIDAY MORNING, MAYBE A LOW MIDDAY FRIDAY BUT LOOK WHAT HAPPENS IN THE EVENING. THIS IS 6:00. A 7:00 GAME FRIDAY, DO YOU SEE THE SHOWER AND THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY 6:00? IT DOES NOT WIND DOWN UNTIL LATE FRIDAY NIGHT, SO FRIDAY’S GAME IS IN QUESTION. MOST OF US ARE STILL IN THE MID 70’S AND WE LLWI DROP MUCH TONIGHT, WE WILL SNEAK DOWN BRIEFLY INTO THE UPPER 60’S AND A FAST WARM UP TOMORROW WITH EARLY DAYS SUNSHINE. IT WILL BE A STEAMY DAY. HUMID, 68 FOR LOW TONIGHT, 88 FOR AN AFTERNOON HIGH TOMORROW, STEAMY SON, A WFE DOWNPOURS. I INCREASED THE THREATOR F RAIN IN THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING TOMORROW EVEN THOUGH I DON’T THINK IT IS A LOT. THE SEVEN DAY FORECAST, THE NEXT THREE DAYS, FRIDAY SATURDAY AND SUNDAY AT WEATHER IMPACT DAYS WITH HIGHEST RAIN CHANCES AND FINGERS CROSSED WE CAN KPEE THIS DRIER WEATHER PATTERN NEXT WEEK.

<p>GOODYEAR, Arizona (AP) — The Cincinnati Reds on Friday released Dee Strange-Gordon, a non-roster invitee to spring training who auditioned at shortstop.</p>
<p>Strange-Gordon, a 32-year-old former All-Star and NL batting champ, got a shot with Cincinnati after Freddy Galvis signed as a free agent with the Baltimore Orioles.</p>
<p>But his chances were hurt by the team’s decision to move Eugenio Suarez from third base to shortstop, and also by good spring performances from versatile infielders Jonathan India and Alex Blandino.</p>
<p>Strange-Gordon, who spent the last three, mostly injury-plagued seasons with Seattle, hit .281 in 12 spring training games with four RBIs and four stolen bases.</p>
<p>He would have received a $1 million salary in the major leagues if added to the 40-man roster and the chance to earn $600,000 in performance bonuses for games played.</p>
<p>Strange-Gordon won the league batting title in 2015 as the Marlins second baseman and was a two-time All Star.</p>

Reds: RHP Tejay Antone, who missed 11 games with right forearm inflammation before returning on Monday, is back on the 10-day injured list with a right forearm strain. LHP Cionel Perez was recalled from Triple-A Louisville. ... RHP Sonny Gray was scheduled to make a rehab start at Louisville on Saturday. He is expected to rejoin the Reds' rotation soon. <p>CINCINNATI — What was a "troubling" sight for Gov. Mike DeWine was a welcome change for business owners at The Banks in the hours leading up to Thursday's Reds Opening Day game.</p>
<p>"One to 10, I give it an 11," said Kris Keefe, manager at Jefferson Social, which sits at the corner of E. Freedom Way and Marian Spencer Drive in the heart of The Banks' new designated outdoor refreshment area (DORA). He said it's the busiest day The Banks has seen since the coronavirus pandemic began more than a year ago.</p>
<p>Keefe's counterpart down the block at Holy Grail Tavern and Grille, Nick Remsay, agreed that, without the open-container zone just out their doors, there would be a lot of impatient, unhappy fans -- and a lot of lost business.</p>
<p>"We had a line at our door at 8 o'clock," Remsay said. "The inside filled up very quickly because we are at 50% capacity still, because of COVID rules."</p>
<p>The Banks came under close scrutiny just days prior, when its first weekend showcased spring weather and large crowds packed into Freedom Way just outside the stadium, without practicing what some would consider appropriate social distancing and face-covering during a pandemic. A spokesperson for The Banks, Tracy Schwegmann, acknowledged that visitors weren't taking advantage of the DORA's full, 85-acre footprint, but said she expects, with time, that will change.</p>
<p>"It's an enormous footprint," she said. "We certainly want folks, as they come down to the DORA, to be mindful of those health recommendations that are in place to help keep you safe."</p>
<p>Late Thursday morning, crowds began arriving at The Banks but stayed mostly within the immediate vicinity of the ballpark, leading folks like DeWine to say during his routine COVID-19 briefing that afternoon: "They’re outside, and that’s the best thing I can say -- they are outside. But more people wearing masks would certainly make me feel a lot better."</p>
<p>Keefe and Remsay said they saw the potential the DORA holds for the neighborhood post-pandemic.</p>
<p>"We're just very excited about the future," Keefe said. "Once all the COVID restrictions are (done), what these places are going to look like down here with the big screen on the outside of the stadium, and all this extra capacity, it's really exciting. It'll be a lot of fun." </p>

<p>CINCINNATI (AP) — Joey Votto hit a two-run homer to cap a seven-run third inning and the Cincinnati Reds cruised to a 10-3 rout of the Cleveland Indians on Friday night.</p>
<p>Jeff Hoffman (2-1) gave the Reds another solid start, surrendering just a run and seven hits through six innings and helping himself with a looping RBI single in the third. Nick Castellanos homered in the sixth inning for the Reds, who struck first in the weekend battle of Ohio.</p>
<p>Seven of the Reds starters scored in the third. Eugenio Suárez doubled down the third base line to drive in two, and Votto followed with his shot off the top of the left field wall.</p>
<p>Tyler Stephenson had a two-run single in the fifth inning.</p>
<p>Amed Rosario and Jordan Luplow homered for Cleveland, and Josh Naylor had three hits.</p>
<p>Indians starter Logan Allen (1-2) didn’t make it out of the third inning. He gave up five runs on three hits, but reliever Phil Maton surrendered the big hits to Suárez and Votto before getting out of the inning.</p>
<p>TRAINER’S ROOM</p>
<p>Reds outfielder Aristides Aquino had surgery to repair a fracture in his left hand and was put on the 10-day injured list. Infielder Max Schrock was recalled from the alternate training site. ... RHP/OF Michael Lorenzen had the first of two PRP injections to stimulate healing in his injured throwing shoulder Wednesday and isn’t expected to return until June. ... OF Shogo Akiyama (hamstring) could be back in the first part of May.</p>
<p>UP NEXT</p>
<p>Right-hander Sonny Gray makes his first appearance for the Reds after starting the season on the injured list with a muscle strain in his back. Going for the Indians will be right-hander Triston McKenzie (0-0), who gave up three runs in four innings in a 4-3 loss to the White Sox on Monday.</p>

<p>CINCINNATI — City leaders and organizers announced celebrations Thursday for what's being called Reds "Re-Opening" Day.</p>
<p>Re-Opening Day is set for Wednesday, June 2 as the Cincinnati Reds take on the Philadelphia Phillies at 12:35 p.m., when capacity limits will be fully lifted at Great American Ball Park.</p>
<p>The <u>decision to expand capacity</u> came after Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine set mandatory health orders to expire on June 2.</p>
<p>Masks inside the ballpark are still recommended, not required. The Reds will continue to offer a $10 ticket deal for those who are vaccinated on Monday-Thursday games through the end of the season.</p>
<p>Here's what you need to know about Re-Opening Day festivities:</p>
<ul>
<li>3CDC will host a party on Fountain Square featuring bars and a live stream of the game on the big screen atop the Foundry Building.</li>
<li>Bally Sports Ohio and the Reds are giving fans a special $5 ticket offer for Re-Opening Day. Fans can buy $5 View Level tickets now through Monday night at reds.com/Bally.</li>
<li>The DORA District at the Banks will open at 11 a.m., and bars and restaurants throughout downtown will be encouraged to be open with “Re-Opening Day” specials and activities.</li>
<li>The Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber, Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky African American Chamber and Cincinnati Convention and Visitors Bureau are offering a special discount on tickets to their members, with details to be delivered directly to members today.</li>
<li>The Convention Center, Tyler Davidson Fountain, Fifth Third Building and other buildings throughout the city will be lit up in red to support the team on Tuesday and Wednesday.</li>
</ul>
<p>Mayor John Cranley and Hamilton County Commission President Stephanie Summerow Dumas proclaimed via ceremonial resolution that June 2 is a “half-day holiday." Both encouraged everyone to come to the Reds game and visit the designated outdoor refreshment area (DORA) District at the Banks.</p>
<p>Cincinnati Bell CEO Leigh Fox announced Thursday that the company is also giving employees a half-day and urging them to come downtown to go to the game or support small businesses. FC Cincinnati President Jeff Berding said the light fins at TQL Stadium will be illuminated in red on Tuesday and Wednesday to celebrate Re-Opening Day.</p>
<p>And of course, everyone in the region is encouraged to wear red on Wednesday to support Re-Opening Day.</p>
<p>One thing that will be missing this year is Findlay Market's Opening Day Parade. Parade Committee member Jeff Gladish says while most organizers would love to participate in a parade, there was just too little notice this time around. It usually takes five months to plan the parade, and he said one week to organize floats and participants just wasn't feasible.</p>
<p>The Opening Day parade next year is going to be much, much bigger than ever before, he said.</p>

<p>CLEVELAND (AP) -- Wade Miley pitched baseball’s second no-hitter in three days — and fourth already this season — leading the Cincinnati Reds to a 3-0 win over the Cleveland Indians, who were no-hit for the second time in a month. </p>
<p>Miley relied on breaking pitches and his experience of 11-plus major league seasons to baffle the Indians and throw Cincinnati’s first no-hitter since Homer Bailey in 2013. </p>
<p>It was the 17th no-hitter in Reds franchise history.</p>
<p>The left-hander shook off an 83-minute rain delay to start the game and followed Baltimore’s John Means, who no-hit Seattle on Wednesday, to continue an early run of pitching gems in 2021 — quickly becoming the Year of the No-No.</p>
