Red Bike turns 8-years-old Wednesday and is overjoyed to also be celebrating over 750,000 rides on Red Bike. In commemoration of the milestone, Red Bike is offering 2014 throwback pricing on all two-hour passes. Riders can use the code 8YRS in the app or at the kiosk, and pay the original $8 price for a two-hour pass on September 15 & 16, 2022.“It feels like just yesterday that we were watching community leaders, Red Bike board members, and supporting partners cut the ribbon at our Freedom Center station,” Executive Director Doug McClintock said. “It has been such an amazing ride so far, and we know that with our continued commitment to equitable growth, Red Bike has a bright future in bringing active transportation to more residents of our neighborhoods.”Red Bike has enabled citizens and visitors to explore, shop, recreate, exercise, commute, and enjoy the smiles that riding a bike can bring. Originally, launching in September of 2014 with 30 stations and 263 bikes, the organization has grown to 64 stations, and more than doubled its fleet with 600 bikes and ebikes. Red Bike Stats over the past eight years:Red Bike riders have taken 756,382 total rides amounting to 27.6 million minutes riding or a collective 52.6 years of riding Red Bike. There have been 2,964,398 pounds of carbon offset by changing car trips into bike trips, and riders have saved 148,220 gallons of gas saved by riding Red Bike. That’s 24,901 times driven around the Earth! And, in purely Cincinnati terms, Red Bike has helped users lose the collective weight of 1,227 Baby Fionas (Or 583 Baby Fritzes, if you’re partial to her little brother!) With generous capital funding from the City of Cincinnati and The OKI Regional Council of Governments, Red Bike’s planned expansion will bring it’s accessible and green transportation to even more residents in 2023 and beyond.
