A little bit of good news and a lot of luck coming out of a destructive wildfire burning near the California-Oregon border as a photojournalist saved a puppy wandering around the ruins of the McKinney Fire.Jonathan Rivas said he arrived at the community of Klamath River early Saturday morning, just hours after the wildfire broke out where he said there was a lot of damage, with trees and homes burned. Rivas said he was finishing filming one neighborhood when he heard yelping. "I heard a yelp in the distance, but I didn't really know what it was, I thought it was an injured deer or one of the wildlife that's there," the AIO Filmz photojournalist said. "All of a sudden, this little puppy comes and runs up to me. I was super shocked to see that come from the rubble there."The puppy was clearly excited to see Rivas in the video.Watch the full rescue below The puppy allowed Rivas to pick him up and put him in the back of his car. "He was very excited, he was wagging his tail, I am talking to him like I'm talking to my dog, I picked him up, put him in the trunk of my car," Rivas said.He gave him some water before dropping him off at a shelter. Rivas posted the video on social media, where he found the puppy's family. The puppy has been reunited with its family. "Reuniting it with their family and after hearing their story, it makes me feel good, I am just happy, I was at the right place at the right time," Rivas said.

<p>STREATOR, Ill. — A Golden Retriever is back home safe after getting trapped in a sinkhole.</p>
<p>The dog named Macy was discovered after another dog led its owner to the hole at a park in Illinois.</p>
<p>"This dog had fell into a five-foot hole, who has been missing for about 24 hours, from what I understand.” said Fred McClellan, Chief of the Streator Fire Department.</p>
<p>Firefighters were called in.</p>
<p>They tried getting Macy out with a ladder, but the older dog could not climb it.</p>
<p>That’s when the fire chief went into the hole himself and wrapped webbing around Macy so the rescue team could pull her out.</p>
<p>The team had to maneuver around, due to the unsteady ground.</p>
<p>"If you can see me falling. It was because the ground started to break on my one foot underneath, so I stepped across the hole to grab and then it collapsed again,” said McClellan.</p>
<p>Once Macy was free, she was a bit shaken.</p>
<p>But she is in much better spirits after reuniting with her owner.</p>

The Kentucky Humane Society is asking for donations to pay for an expensive surgery for a 5-month-old puppy with broken front paws. The nonprofit group based in Louisville took in the puppy named MacGregor last week from an overcrowded Kentucky shelter. According to KHS, the puppy suffered blunt force trauma to his front paws, which resulted in broken metacarpal bones in both his right and left paws."These are very unusual injuries and we do not know what may have caused them, but we are determined to help MacGregor recover from his trauma," KHS said on Facebook. In an update Monday, the nonprofit group said the puppy went to a specialist Friday, which allowed the team to determine the next steps for MacGregor. The puppy will need specialized surgery to help mend his broken bones, surgery that KHS said "requires a lot of resources."(Click here to donate)According to the nonprofit group, the surgery MacGregor will need "is more than KHS' monthly budget for offsite veterinary care.""But we believe MacGregor is worth saving. This boy handsome boy has quickly stolen all of our hearts at KHS!" the team said on Facebook. The staff at KHS said despite the pain the puppy is suffering, they said it hasn't brought down his spirits. MacGregor has the best personality and enjoys giving kisses to those he comes into contact with, the team said.KSH shared several photos of MacGregor. Those wishing to donate can do so online through Facebook or on the KHS website.

Police said they used footage from doorbell cameras to crack a dognapping case in Massachusetts and reunite the stolen puppy with her rightful owners. Ember, an 8-month-old black Lab, was reported missing from a front yard in Wellesley on July 22.The Nissenbaum family, who owns Ember, says they initially thought their puppy got loose but suspected that she was stolen after they realized her tether was intact."They didn't think we were crazy when we thought that the dog was stolen," Neil Nissenbaum said of Wellesley police. "They agreed with us that it just didn't seem right."While the Nissenbaums started hanging missing posters around town, Wellesley Police Department officers Derek Harris and Mike Mankavech went door-to-door in the neighborhood in a search for witnesses or evidence. The officers found several homeowners who were willing to share footage from their security cameras, the department said. With that footage, police were able to identify a vehicle that had circled the neighborhood several times before Ember was taken. The license plate on that car was traced to a Framingham resident. Police found that vehicle in Framingham on July 25 and surveilled the suspects' home."While they were conducting surveillance, the suspects brought the dog outside," said Wellesley Police Chief Jack Pilecki. As a result of the investigation, police arrested 40-year-old Manuel Sierra, of Framingham, and summonsed a 32-year-old woman to court. Both will face charges of receiving stolen property over $1,200 and conspiracy."We had a slip-and-slide literally right next to where the dog was," said Talia Nissenbaum."They should have known that we had kids," Neil Nissenbaum added.Ember was reunited with her family Sunday evening. The department posted a video of the happy reunion. "I was, like, really happy. We were screaming. All my friends were screaming," said Talia Nissenbaum, Neil and Talia's daughter."The Wellesley Police Department would like to thank all the citizens in the Redwing Road and Cedar Street neighborhoods that we spoke to over the course of the last few days," police said. "Without the help of the neighbors, this case would probably not have had such a great ending."

<p>HAMILTON, Ohio — A Hamilton man who rescued a puppy with a broken leg abandoned in a backpack while the man was on his route with Rumpke was honored by the SPCA Cincinnati with the Good Pet Samaritan Award, the <a class="Link" href="https://www.journal-news.com/news/rumpke-worker-who-rescued-abandoned-puppy-honored-by-area-spca/4V7EEIOX7VALRPWAUMD7AVQAO4/">Journal-News</a> reports.</p>
<p>The SPCA presented Aaron Kinsel with the award on Tuesday at the Rumpke headquarters in Cincinnati.</p>
<p>Kinsel found the puppy, later named Tipper, while on a residential route picking up recycling in Colerain Twp. on a chilly January morning.</p>

<p>He was backing down the road when he noticed some strange movement coming from a backpack. When he went to look inside, Tipper poked her head out.</p>
<p>Kinsel called his supervisor to help with the puppy and wrapped her in an extra truck and kept her in the truck to keep her warm.</p>
<p>“It was 30 degrees outside this morning. I wanted to keep it as warm as I could,” he said in January. “She looked a little scared, but as she started to understand what I was doing, she showed a sense of relief.”</p>
<p>He took Tipper to a local veterinarian and his family has since adopted her.</p>
