DOUG: AT FIRST GLANCE BENTLEY SEEMS LIKE A NORMAL HEALTHY 2-YEAR-OLD PIT BULL TERRIER. THAT IS UNTIL YOU REALIZE HE WAS BORN WITH A RARE CONDITION WHERE HIS TONGUE WAS TOO LARGE FOR HIS HEAD. >> IT'S CALLED MACROGLOSSIA, BASICALLY IT'S JUST AN ENLARGED TONGUE. DOUG: DR. RAYMOND KOOD-GEE IS A VETERINARY SURGEON AND PROFESSOR AT THE CUMMINGS SCHOOL IN GRAFTON. HE SAYS IT WAS A CHALLENGE FOR BENTLEY TO EAT AND INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT FOR HIM TO BREH.AT >> THE TONGUE WAS PROBABLY 2 TIMES BIGGER THAN IT NORMALLY SHOU HLDAVE BEEN. DOUG: DR KOOD-GEE NORMALLY SEES ETH CONDITION IN SMALLER MUZZLED DOGS BUT NEVER IN A BREED LIKE BENTLEY. AND IT JUST SO HAPPENED ETH TUFTS DOCTOR WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF RESEARCH ON THAT VERY SAME CONGENITAL CONDITION >> I'VE NEVER SEEN A TONGUE AS THICK AS A STEAK AND IT WAS LITERALLY THIS THICK. DOUG: MAUREEN SALZILLO IS CO-FOUNDER OF OPERATION PAWSIBILITPRY OJECT. WHEN BENTLEY'S OWNER HAD GIVEN UP ALL HOPE OF HELPING HIM HE WAS SURRENDERED TO MAUREEN'S RESC.UE AND JUST WHEN SHE HAD ALMOST GIVEN UP HOPE OF FINDING HELP FOR BENTLEY, REMARKABLY SHE REACHED OUT TO TUFTS AND FOUND DR. KOOD-GEE. >> AND HE'S LIKE I HAVE TO MEET HIM, I'M DOING THIS LIKE THE STARS HAVE LINED UP PERFECTLY. DOUG: THE MEET UP BETWEEN DOG AND DOCTOR BEING DESCRIBED AS A ONE IN-A MILLN.IO >> I'LL NEVER ESE ANOTHER DOG LIKE AND IT WAS RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RESEARCH THAT I WAS DOING SO BOY I WAS PREYTT PREPARED FOR THE PROCEDU.RE DOUG: THE NEVER BEFORE PREFORMED PROCEDURE TO REMOVAE SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF BENTLEY'S ENLARGED TONGUE WAS A SUCCESS. AND WE'RE HAPPY TO REPORT HE'S IS NOW BACK IN THE LOVING HEOM OF HIS ORIGINAL OWNER IN RHODE ISLA.ND >> THEY COULDN'T BELIEVE THAT WE WERE ABLE TO BASICALLY GET HIM TO A PLACE IN HIS LIFE WHERE HE WAS DOING 80% BETT.ER ABLE TO EAT AND INK,DR NO DISCOMFORT, BACK TO PLAYING LIKE A PUPPY. >> I DON'T BELIEVE IN FATE BUT ALL THE STARS LINED UP IN THAT SITUATION AND IT WORKED OUT REALLY WELL. DOUG: BENTLEY IS GOING TO HAVE A LITTLE BLOOD WORK DONE TODAY AND HE'S GNGOI TO HAVE HIS NAILS TRIMMED AND OTHER THAN THAT, FOR THE MOST PART, HE SHOULD BE LIVING OUT A PRETTY HEALTHY LIFE MOVING FORWA.RD IN GRAFTON, I'M DOUG MEEHAN VBWC

Sharonville police said an Amazon driver was attacked by a pit bull while delivering packages on Wednesday. The driver who was attacked said the woman walking the dog took off with the dog. Now, the driver's arm is bandaged up and she is off the job recovering.Sharonville police are investigating what happened, but the driver said one thing is clear: the dog needs a different environment."I was in shock that a dog ran up on me because, like, I deliver every day to houses that do have dogs," Asia Turnbow said. Many days are delivery day for Turnbow. Most would say she is a welcome sight with Amazon packages in hand and a big smile on her face. But her day on Wednesday, would drive all of us to tears."Basically, the gash is probably like this big and this wide," Turnbow said as she described an area where she was bitten. She said a gray pit bull being walked bit her while she made deliveries at Waterstone Place Apartments in Sharonville at about 3:30 p.m."As I'm walking by, I'm like, 'Oh your dog is cute' and I kept walking and next thing you know, the dog ran up and attacked my shirt. So, I thought it was just my shirt that it ripped. Until I realized that it was bleeding," Turnbow said.Turnbow loves dogs and has two herself. But she said this dog was aggressive, pulling a harness and a woman walking it."He was about 150 pounds. He was a big dog. My dog is 110 and he was bigger than her," Turnbow said. She said the woman took off with the dog.Turnbow said she called for help and then walked to the front office alone and hurt."I went to the hospital. Spent probably three to four hours there, of them trying to figure out what to do next with it because the way it is, it's not repairable," Turnbow said. She said she's worked for Amazon more than a year handling thousands of packages. She's never been bitten."If you can't control your dog, then you shouldn't have the dog," Turnbow said. Now, Turnbow said she is too hurt to work and frustrated the woman left without hesitation."That could have been a small dog or even a child it could have bit instead of me," she said.A representative from the apartment complex said they've identified the tenant responsible and they have reported them to the police. They also said the tenant was apparently supposed to be dog-sitting, but left town, and someone else was dog-sitting.The representative said the dog is not allowed and the tenant has a short amount of time to get rid of the dog or they will be evicted. So far, Sharonville police have said the investigation is ongoing. It does not appear anyone has been charged or cited.Turnbow said she is hopeful the dog owner will be held responsible, not the dog.
