We're learning more about the investigation into James and Jennifer Crumbley, the parents of the accused Oxford High School shooter, 15-year-old Ethan Crumbley.

The couple is facing involuntary manslaughter charges related to the shooting that left four students dead and seven other people injured. They were arrested at a building on Detroit's east side over the weekend.

The investigation has turned to the artist who owns the building. On Monday night, the Oakland County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant at his home after he was questioned.

Now, we're learning that deputies found another vehicle the Crumbleys owned at a different hotel.

Police seized all of Andrezj Sikora's phones and computers, aiming to establish a timeline to see how much he knew and his true intentions to help the Crumbleys avoid arrest.

Deputies say he is cooperating.

"I believe at the end of the day they are going to conclude that he had no involvement with the Crumbleys," Sikora's attorney, Clarance Dass, said.

The 65-year-old owns an art studio, the same place Jame and Jennifer were found shacked up after failing to turn themselves into police.

Dass said Sikora didn't know the Crumbleys or their son were involved in the shooting at the high school. His attorney said he contacted the sheriff's office as soon as he did.

"He knows what he knows, and he knows that his involvement is so limited here, and most people don't go to the police voluntarily, and he did," Dass said.

James and Jennifer are facing four counts of involuntary manslaughter. Police say their son used a handgun they purchased to shoot up the school.

Dass said his client was trying to protect them from danger and not the police.

"The Crumbleys asked for a safe place to stay to avoid death threats that were surrounding their home," Dass said.

After a two-hour interview, deputies executed the search warrant and seized all his electronics.

Police are also looking into a second car belonging to the suspects parked at a different location than they were found.

"We uncovered a vehicle that the family also owned at a different hotel. There were a lot of things in motion here," Sheriff Michael Bouchard said. "The fact they were in a warehouse in a kind of an off-the-beaten-path in Detroit certainly is not indicative of someone who looked like they were going to surrender, in my experience."

Police will be checking Sikora's texts and phone records to see what kind of conversations he was having with the suspects before and after they were charged.

Staff at WXYZ in Detroit, Michigan, first reported this story.

Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald revealed what happened in the days leading up to the deadly Oxford High School shooting. She announced charges against the suspected shooter’s parents on Friday afternoon.

James Crumbley and Jennifer Crumbley are each facing four counts of involuntary manslaughter.

“Gun ownership is a right and with that right comes great responsibility,” said McDonald.

Officials say the gun used in the Nov. 30 attack was purchased by James Crumbley four days prior with his son present.

The suspect’s mother reportedly posted about the firearm on social media, saying, “Mom and son day, testing out his new Christmas present.”

The suspect also reportedly posted about the pistol, saying he got “his new beauty today.”

McDonald revealed that the day before the shooting, the suspect was reportedly searching for ammunition on his phone in class – when a teacher noticed. According to the prosecutor, a call and email allegedly went out to Jennifer about the incident, which was unanswered.

McDonald said Jennifer later texted her son about the incident, saying, “LOL, I’m not mad at you. You have to learn not to get caught.”

The following day of the shooting on Nov. 30, the prosecutor says the suspect was discovered drawing a disturbing note in class.

The drawings reportedly worried the teacher. McDonald said the suspect had pulled a gun pointing at the words, “the thoughts won’t stop, help me,” along with a drawing of a bullet with the words, “blood everywhere” and a drawing of a person who appeared to be shot twice near a laughing emoji and the words “my life is useless.”

The prosecutor said the suspect was called into a meeting with his parents at the school. McDonald said the suspect had already altered parts of the drawing at that time.

The parents were reportedly advised to get counseling for their son within 48 hours.

It was after that meeting that the suspect returned to class. The prosecutor said the parents failed to ask the suspect if he had the gun with him and failed to check his backpack.

“Of course, he shouldn’t have gone back to that classroom,” said McDonald at the press conference.

The shooting would unfold a short time later, leaving four people dead and seven injured. Tate Myre, 16, Madisyn Baldwin, 17, Hana St. Juliana, 14, and Justin Shilling, 17, lost their lives in the shooting.

The prosecutor said around 1:22 p.m. that day, Jennifer texted her son, “Ethan, don’t do it.”

About 10 minutes later, James reportedly called 911 to report a gun missing from their home. It was stored in an unlocked drawer in their bedroom, McDonald said.

“We need to do better in this country. We need to say enough is enough,” said the prosecutor.

OXFORD, Mich. — The family of 17-year-old Justin Shilling, who was one of the four students killed in the Oxford High School shooting, has released a statement about their loved one, asking that the victims be the focus in the aftermath of the tragedy.

"The loss of Justin leaves such a gaping hole in our family that we cannot conceive of life without him," the statement reads. "Our hearts are broken and yet still go out to the other families suffering this very same loss at this very same moment and which is beyond imagination, nothing any family should have to endure."

They said Shilling was also an organ donor, continuing to give of himself even in death.
