THE LIVES OF KIDS. LET’S GET A LOOK OF THAT FORECAST. TODAY IS LOOKING DECENT. THERE IS THIS FOG. KATIE: IT’S NOT TERRIBLY WIDESPREAD. IT’S A BIT OF A HEADACHE THIS MORNING. WE’VE GOT QUARTER-MILE OR LESS VISIBILITY. THAT IN PLACE FOR OUR GREAT HIGHLIGHTED COUNTIES. YOU CAN SEE WITH THE VISIBILITY ISSUES ARE. THERE IS NO VISIBILITY IN GEORGETOWN AND BROOKSVILLE. CINCINNATI COMES UP TO TWO MILES FOR VISIBILITY. WE WILL BE IN AN OUT OF THIS FAIRLY DENSE FOG FOR A GOOD CHUNK OF THE MORNING. TODAY, WE GET 56 FOR THE HEIGHT. THEN WE ARE GOING TO BE LOOKING AT MAINLY CLOUDY SKIES. WE CAN’T RULE OUT A SINGLE OR TWO. -- SPRINKLE OR TWO. THE NIGHT, LOOK FOR MILD TEMPERATURES FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR. WE SHOULD BE AROUND 48-50 DEGREES. IT IS GOING TO BE THE BILLS GAME. HOME TOMORROW NIGHT. PLAN ON SHOWERS FOR THAT. UP UNTIL THEN, IT IS CLOUDY AND MORE SPRINGLIKE. YOUR TAILGATE LOOKS MOSTLY DRY. SOME MODELS HAVE BEEN BRINGING IN AN ISOLATED SHOWER. FOR KICKOFF, SCATTERED RAIN WILL BE MOVING IN. YOU WILL NEED TO BRING THE RAIN GEAR WITH YOU TOMORROW NIGHT. AS THE GAME PROGRESSES, WE ARE LOOKING AT THE OPPORTUNITY FOR SOME STEADIER RAINFALL. FUTURECAST AS YOU HAD THROUGH TODAY WILL SHOW CLOUD COVER. WE WILL STAY MOSTLY CLOUDY THROUGH THAT :00 TOMORROW MORNING. WE HAVE A POSSIBLE ISOLATED SHOWERS. IT’S MORE LIKELY THROUGH 5:00 WHEN WE START TO SEE OUR FIRST HIT AND MISS SHOWERS. AS YOU HEAD TOWARD 9:00 WHEN THE GAME IS GETTING STARTED, LOOK FOR SCATTERED LIGHT RAINFALL. AS YOU HEAD TOWARD MIDNIGHT, THAT IS WHEN THIS LEADING EDGE OF HEAVY RAIN WILL BE COMING INTO THE AREA. IF THE GAME GOES LATE INTO THE EVENING, WE WILL BE LOOKING AT THE OPPORTUNITY FOR WET WEATHER. ESPECIALLY WALKING BACK TO YOUR CAR. FROM LOOKING AHEAD TO HAVE YOUR SHOUTERS, THERE WILL BE THUNDER OVERNIGHT MONDAY INTO TUESDAY. THE HEAVIEST RAINFALL IS BETWEEN MIDNIGHT AND 6:00 IN THE MORNING. WE ARE LOOKING AT WATER IT TO LIGHT RAINFALL AS YOU HEAD THROUGH AND :00. WE SHOULD START TO DRY THINGS OUT. YOUR FORECAST RAINFALL IS PRETTY SIGNIFICANT. ANYWHERE FROM AN INCH AND A HALF FOR MOST COMMUNITIES. IT WILL BE WIDESPREAD. IT’S GOING TO BE YOUR BEST BET FOR SEEING HIGHER TOTALS. WHETHER IMPACT DAYS FOR MONDAY AND TUESDAY, NOTICE THIS WARMING TREND. TUESDAY’S HIGH IS 66. THE RECORD TO BE TO 67. WE WILL COME CLOSE TO A RECORD HIGH. WE HAVE BIG CHANGES WEDNESDAY. WE WILL DROP TEMPERATURES. THEY WILL BE FALLING THROUGH MIDNIGHT. WE WILL BE CRASHING INTO THE 30’S AND 40’S FOR THURSDAY. WE HAVE A CHILL IN THE AIR FOR FRIDAY AND SATURDAY.

<p>Another year in the books, this was the one we thought we could be back to normal. The coronavirus - and the omicron variant - had different plans.</p>
<p>“We’re learning more about omicron every day. It seems milder in many ways than delta. However, the jury is still out on that because we have only data from countries that have a different infection history than we do,” said Gigi Gronval. She works on pandemics with John’s Hopkins University.</p>
<p>She’s right - omicron seems to be milder than previous variants.</p>
<p>But it also spreads quickly.</p>
<p>And it’s causing an unprecedented spike in cases in the U.S.</p>
<p>“Omicron is spreading a little bit more rapidly because it’s able to infect people who are vaccinated and even boosted. So we’re having a lot more transmission because of that,” said Gronval.</p>
<p>This brings us to New Year’s Eve. Traditionally one of the biggest nights for large gatherings in the U.S. and worldwide. Should you go to that party?</p>
<p>The White House says no.</p>
<p>“If you plan to go to a 40 to 50 person New Year’s Eve party, with all the bells and whistles and everybody hugging and kissing, wishing each other a happy New Year, I would strongly recommend that this year we do not do that,” said Dr. Anthony Faucci in a recent White House briefing. </p>
<p>Experts say throwing caution to the wind and treating it like we aren’t in a pandemic is not a good idea.</p>
<p>“Do what you can to protect yourself and reduce the likelihood that you’re going to get infected. This is just where we are right now, and unfortunately, we can’t just dismiss all concerns about the pandemic when it’s still ongoing,” said Gronval.</p>
<p>If you do head out - make sure to take some precautions.</p>
<p>“If you go and do it anyway, I would recommend taking some precautions. I hope that people have already had a chance to get a booster. If they do not, that will make a big difference in a brief time,” said Gronval, “Stay in well-ventilated areas, if you’re going to have a party or get together, make it outside, bundle there’s no such thing as bad weather, there’s just bad clothing.”</p>
<p>It’s not the news we wanted. But it is the information we need to stay as safe as possible this year.</p>
<p>Here’s to giving you some better news in 2022.</p>

another tense phone call between President Biden and Russia's President Putin over that troop build up along the Ukrainian border. In the 50 minute call, Putin issued a stark warning. If the U. S. Imposes any more sanctions, it could lead to a quote complete rupture in relations. He also wants NATO and U. S. Forces to pull back in the region. The new York Times reports, biden warned that those new sanctions could be coming if Russia invades Ukraine. The two leaders did manage to agree to continue talking with an in person meeting in europe which will include NATO in Ukraine. Despite the continued stands still not seen since the Cold War. A Kremlin official said that Russia was in principle satisfied with the phone call. The US is still unsure whether Putin actually plans to invade Ukraine. An estimated 100,000 troops are on the border and Putin won't say what he'll do. But biden says sending us troops to stop an invasion won't happen.

<p>WASHINGTON, D.C. — This time of the year, it can be easy to get swept away in the magic of the season.</p>
<p>"Everyone is out, you know, and shopping and just exploring,” said Dana Gagnon, owner of Hart and Honey, a home décor small business in southern California.</p>
<p>However, experts say that for those who are not careful with their holiday spending, the cold reality of 2022 could be right around the corner.</p>
<p>“It's easy to swipe that card, especially during the holidays,” said Rod Griffin, senior director of consumer education and advocacy for the credit reporting company <a class="Link" href="https://www.experian.com/">Experian.</a></p>
<p>Experian recently conducted a nationwide survey, gauging where people stood with their finances nearly two years into the COVID pandemic.</p>
<p>“People said that COVID is still, in some cases, having some effect on their finances, but less than last year,” Griffin said.</p>
<p>Last year, half of those surveyed said they were stressed about their finances during the holidays. This year, that number dropped to 30%. This time around, that stress revolves more around supply issues.</p>
<p>“Getting the gifts for the kids and having them physically there is perhaps more stressful this year than being able to pay for them, which is an unusual circumstance,” Griffin said.</p>
<p>Still, the survey found that, overall, 58% of people are concerned about how much they spend during the holidays. The group most concerned: 45% of 18- to 24-year-olds, also known as Gen Z.</p>
<p>“That makes sense. In a way, they're typically the least established, lower incomes generally,” Griffin said.</p>
<p>He said that there are steps members of every generation can take now to make sure they head into the new year with their best personal financial picture.</p>
<p>“They're looking at ‘How do I operate in this sort of era of uncertainty in our finances and seeing things like inflation?’ seeing things like higher costs and lower supply create uncertainty in how you manage your finances,” Griffin said.</p>
<p>First step: work to increase savings and see where you can cut unnecessary costs. </p>
<p>Second suggestion: create a budget, which is a critical tool that can help keep you on the right financial track. </p>
<p>Finally, Griffin said, it is important to check your credit report and pay down credit card debt.</p>
<p>“Credit card debt tends to be the most expensive debt you have. Not the largest – that's usually people's homes – but the most expensive debt you have, because that interest adds up and you can find yourself with increasing credit card balances without actually buying anything else if you're not careful,” he said. “So, paying down the debt – credit card debt – creates more freedom in the finances.”</p>
<p>Some shoppers said they are taking that advice a step further by not creating credit card debt in the first place.</p>
<p>"I'm keeping my money in my pockets and just spending time with my family," said Cheryl Mosely, who was out shopping near Detroit.</p>
<p>It’s just one move taken now that can bring people closer together, while also keeping hard-earned money closer to home.</p>

it's a super this'll second annual Ticktock Top 100 list. We're really looking back at all the music creators, trends, memes and moments that really shades 2022 the bees and to be sent to be sent to the baby booth. You know the through line is that these are videos that brought joy and inspiration to millions of Americans in a year that has been a bit of a whirlwind for everyone as we all try to figure it out. So when you're seeing Nathan Apodaca, a k a dog for 20 dog, based to a skating on his skateboard, drinking is ocean spray cranberry juice with dreams from Fleetwood Mac playing, it's really about capturing an essence in a moment. What Gen. Z would call immaculate vibes is what they call it. Like that whole energy, random things in my overpriced, shoebox sized New York City apartment that just makes sense. You're seeing everyone from the teenager Thio, the college students with their parents and then their grand parents are making videos. And that takes a truly transcends generations, particularly this year when people had a lot of time to like digging and not only watch but sly

As the U.S. ushered in 2021, more than 125,300 COVID-19 patients remained hospitalized — another record for the fourth day in a row.The high count is a grim reminder that even with 2020 behind us, the pandemic continues to ravage parts of the country. And some local leaders warn the worst is still ahead. "We are still going to have our toughest and darkest days," Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti told CNN.Los Angeles County, as well as the state of California, have battled brutal surges of infections, hospitalizations and deaths in the past weeks, all driven in part by Thanksgiving gatherings, health officials said. Surging hospitalizations in the county are pushing hospitals to the "brink of catastrophe," said Dr. Christina Ghaly, Los Angeles County Health Services director. In Georgia, Gov. Brian Kemp said a convention center will begin accepting patients at the end of this week and will have an additional 60 beds to "help ensure that our hospitals continue to have the capacity they need for COVID and non-COVID patients."Arizona health officials say the number of new cases remains high, with hospitalization and death tallies also increasing."Even without COVID-19, winter is an especially busy season for hospitals. Amid this pandemic and the surge in cases, more than 90% of intensive care unit beds are in use this week, with more than half of those beds occupied by COVID-19 patients," Dr. Cara Christ, director of the Arizona Department of Health Services, said in a video message posted to Twitter. And experts have warned the grim numbers could climb further nationwide in the coming weeks — a swells stemming from the gatherings and travels that took place over the holidays.Despite repeated calls from both local and state leaders for people to celebrate with only members of their household, millions of Americans opted to spend time away from home. On Wednesday, the Transportation Security Administration reported its fourth-busiest day of the pandemic, screening more than a million people for the fifth straight day. How vaccine distributions are goingVaccinations are ongoing across the country but experts say it will be months before vaccines are widespread enough to turn the course of the pandemic.Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards on Thursday announced doses of the COVID-19 vaccine will be available to pharmacies in limited supply starting Jan. 4 to be administered to people who are 70 and older as well health care workers. The initial supply, the governor's office said, will be "extremely limited and people must contact a designated pharmacy to make appointments before going in to be vaccinated."New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Thursday he hoped the city can administer a million doses by the end of January."Like any good New Year's resolution, one million doses by the end of January is an ambitious goal to say the least," he said. "We are doing everything we can to vaccinate as many New Yorkers as possible, but to really pick up the pace, we need our federal and state partners on board — and fast. It will be tough, but I believe that we can do it."As distribution expands to the general public, the mayor said that the vaccine will be available to hard-hit neighborhoods first. So far, more than 12.4 million vaccine doses have been distributed nationwide and more than 2.7 million have been administered. The roll-out has been slower than many officials expected, but if the U.S. is able to "catch up" in 2021, widespread vaccination could be possible starting in April, Dr. Anthony Fauci said."Let's say in April, it will be what I call "open season," namely, anybody who wants to get vaccinated can get vaccinated," Fauci said. "If we then diligently vaccinate people in April, May, June, July, then we will gradually and noticeably get a degree of protection approaching herd immunity."By the time early fall rolls around, Fauci said, "we will have enough good herd immunity to be able to really get back to some strong semblance of normality."Florida has evidence of UK variant caseMeanwhile, more states are now beginning to report cases of the Covid-19 variant that was first detected in the U.K.Florida health officials announced the state has evidence of the first case of the variant in a man in his 20s with no history of travel."The Department is working with the CDC on this investigation. We encourage all to continue practicing Covid-19 mitigation," the state's health department wrote on Twitter.California health officials also said earlier this week the variant was detected in a 30-year-old San Diego man, who is not hospitalized and had very few social interactions during his potential contagious period. The first known case of the variant in the U.S. was identified in Colorado, in a man in his 20s who has no travel history. But experts have said they expect there are likely many more cases across the country that have just not been detected."An unknown travel history means that this person picked it up the community," Dr. Atul Gawande, a member of the Biden-Harris transition Covid-19 advisory board, previously told CNN."If this mutation, this mutated virus, which is more contagious, is not widespread yet and beginning to spread, that means it will be even more important to follow the approaches we know work," he said.

<p>Of all the people who make New Year’s resolutions, more than half will drop them by Jan. 17, which is commonly referred to as “Ditch Day.”</p>
<p>But mental health experts say that there might be a reason for it if you’re giving up.</p>
<p>When it comes to New Year’s resolutions, Sarah Possenti has seen and heard it all.</p>
<p>“I just don’t throw much out- I don’t believe in cutting out an entire food group unless you’re allergic to it- and that’s what a lot of people are doing when they jump on these trendy diets.”</p>
<p>She’s been a chef and food stylist for more than a decade. It’s her job to make the food you see on TV look pretty. So, as you might imagine, people ask her about food and diets and fads and trends all the time.</p>
<p>“I think a great New Year’s resolution and one I was able to stick to one year- was cut out all fast food and I think that’s a great resolution and one that people could sustain- or cutting out high-fat coffee- that’s more habit changing.”</p>
<p>People make all kinds of resolutions, both big and small, said Dr. Scott Wiener, a mental health expert in the Pacific Northwest.</p>
<p>“New Year seems to be this phenomenon this period of change- well, why not, I’m motivated I’m excited I can make a difference in my life. Like all good plans, if you don’t have a proper road map to get there, things don’t often work out.”</p>
<p>Dr. Wiener says that you have to truly understand yourself and be prepared for the obstacles that will challenge you or cause you to break your own goals for you to stick to your resolutions.</p>
<p>"What makes you think the way you think, feel the way you feel- you can utilize that information as a guide- the thing that helps you know you’re doing the right thing for yourself.”</p>
<p>Modern science led the mental health world to something called the “Genomind Mental Health Map.”</p>
<p>"What that looks at are numerous genetic variations. We call them predispositions because they tell you more about your biological makeup," Dr. Wiener said. "Why are you an over thinker, why are you a worrier, why do you procrastinate- well, here’s the science that backs up the symptom.”</p>
<p>It’s kind of like your car when you take it to the mechanic.</p>
<p>“The mechanic doesn’t say 'oh, well, it sounds like this, give me money I’ll fix it, he says I’ll look under the hood,'" Dr. Wiener said. "And that’s the problem in mental health; people don’t have the opportunity to take a look under the hood.”</p>
<p>He says a New Year should give you the motivation to figure out what works for you to set yourself up for success.</p>
<p>Be it quitting smoking, losing weight, or making better financial decisions.</p>
<p>Dr. Wiener said to keep in mind that no goal is too big or impossible, as long as you have a plan to get there.</p>
