<p>
Remember when a new television season started in September? Not this year. Looking forward to big-budget blockbusters coming to a theater near you next summer? Maybe not. You've always heard great things about "Breaking Bad" or "The Wire" but you never got around to watching it? Now's your chance. And it might be a while before you know how many Emmys your favorite show eventually takes home. The awards show, as with much in the TV and movie industry, is also very much uncertain right now.But what you can count on is more reality shows, and maybe game shows, and probably more opportunities to binge shows that have already been on.That's because about 160,000 actors who belong to SAG-AFTRA are about to go on strike, joining more than 11,000 members of the Writers Guild of America who have been on strike since May 2.Prepping for the long-haulSome movies are already complete, of course, like "Barbie" and "Oppenheimer," and set to hit theaters. But any pipeline of new shows is already slowing to a trickle. Data from film permits in California indicates that production of most shows and movies already has been halted by the writers' strike. Even though movies typically have a script in hand when they start shooting, revisions and changes mean a writer is usually needed while production proceeds. Now with actors also going on strike, most remaining production will stop. The exception will be independent movies that are not associated with one of the major studios. One group of television shows that will continue to produce new episodes is the traditional daytime soap operas. The writers of those shows are typically nonunion, and the unionized actors work under a different contract than the one that expired at 11:59 p.m. PDT on Wednesday. But most other actors will stop working as soon as the union's government board votes to go on strike later Thursday. Rank-and-file members have already voted 98% in favor of authorizing a strike.Actors will not be doing publicity for movies that are being released, including appearing on the red carpet at movie premieres or doing interviews on podcasts. Of course, the writers' strike brought an immediate halt to new episodes of U.S. late night shows, so the opportunity to do that sort of publicity was already limited. How long will it last? What isn't clear is how long this will continue. There are hopes in the industry that since writers and actors are out at the same time, that will put pressure on the studios to improve their offers and get everyone back to work sooner rather than later. The last time the writers and the Screen Actors Guild, the precursor of SAG-AFTRA, were on strike at the same time was 1960 — so long ago that Ronald Reagan was the SAG president leading that strike. But everyone agrees the industry is going through unprecedented change as the ways that the public consumes shows are changing rapidly, and the economics are changing with it.Disney CEO Bob Iger didn't seem to suggest there will be a solution in the near term, in comments Thursday morning.Video below: Hear from SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher"They are adding to a set of challenges this business is already facing that is quite frankly very disruptive," said Iger, who is set to receive more than $25 million in compensation this year, about SAG-AFTRA and Writers Guild in an interview on CNBC. "You have to be realistic about the business environment and what this business can deliver."But the unions say their members are suffering because of the changes in the business, like the shrinking amount of broadcast residuals in the age of streaming, and they've been pushed to the point where they can't accept what the studios are offering."The studios and streamers have implemented massive unilateral changes in our industry's business model, while at the same time insisting on keeping our contracts frozen in amber," said a statement from Duncan Crabtree-Ireland, the union's chief negotiator, issued early Thursday morning. "The studios and streamers have underestimated our members' resolve, as they are about to fully discover."So don't expect to see the return of many of your favorite shows any time soon.

He was accepted the following decade into the Actors Studio, where fellow students included Shelley Winters and Ben Gazzara. He went on to have a long and busy career in film and television, with hundreds of credits before retiring from acting in 2001.He had a breakthrough role on stage and screen in the 1950s as a drug dealer in "A Hatful of Rain” and supporting parts in two of Frank Sinatra's best known movies, both from the early 1960s: “Ocean's Eleven,” the Las Vegas heist film that was a showcase for Sinatra, Dean Martin and other “Rat Pack” members; and “The Manchurian Candidate,” the Cold War thriller about brainwashing and the attempted assassination of a presidential nominee that starred Sinatra, Laurence Harvey and Janet Leigh. (In his last film appearance, Silva was cast in the “Ocean's Eleven” remake from 2000 that starred George Clooney and Brad Pitt).“Our hearts are broken at the loss of our dear friend Henry Silva, one of the nicest, kindest and most talented men I’ve had the pleasure of calling my friend," Dean Martin's daughter, Deana Martin, tweeted. “He was the last surviving star of the original Oceans 11 Movie.”Silva was also seen on such television series as “Wagon Train” and “The F.B.I.,” and in such films as Warren Beatty's “Dick Tracy,” Jerry Lewis' “Cinderfella” and “Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai,” in which he played a mobster in the 1999 release directed by one of his admirers, Jim Jarmusch.

We were called and Are United by *** common vision which has now become *** command that we cannot ignore. Have you paid attention to *** lot of the online reaction to the movie because it's been extremely well received since the reactions came out last week. No, you know, I just, this will be my second day of press and I've just started getting feedback, feedback since yesterday. So I'm, you know, I mean, I love it, I love all the positive feedback, but I'm like waiting for the negative feedback because there's always gonna be, there's always gonna be that. And so I try and, you know, I've always believed that I don't want to get wrapped up in the negative feedback. But in order to do that, I can't get wrapped up in the positive feedback either. So I just don't want to get ahead of myself. You know, I know once the dust clears, I just want people to love this film really kind of really want this message to kind of seep through and I really want this to be *** conversational film. But, you know, with all films, I think whether they stand the test of time. Well, you know, it remains to be seen but I think that's what makes the classic film, if people are still watching this film 5, 10 years from now and still having conversations about them. Um, that's what makes, you know, *** film great. So I just don't try not to let myself get wrapped up and, and to all the hype, whether it be positive or negative. Yeah, I think that's what makes these kind of thrillers so good because it's that kind of thing. You can't help thinking if you're in that situation, it's such *** grounded thing. Like we were never in that situation but like such *** dark place to go even to have *** conversation out loud. But it's, you know, it's, you know, the messages in general, if you take the minute, take them out of the this context and put them into *** much simpler context and it's still the message of sacrifice and of love and what love looks like and those types of types of messages and how they're relevant to today's times. I think they're great messages, you know, and there's things that can be talked about in conversations that don't have to be apocalyptic. You know, and you've been, you've already said that this was obviously one of the really big challenge for you as an actor. Um Is there was that just the general role because lenders such *** fascinating character because he should be this kind of, you think he's going to be this brute that's kind of overpower it. But there's *** vulnerability and an emotion, emotional side to him. Was that balance the biggest challenge or was there something else when you were approaching this role? It was the challenge. And you know, it's *** challenge that I sought after. And this is why one of the first time I read the script, I was blown away and not only blown away by the script itself, but by the opportunity, um selfishly, you know, as an actor, as *** performer because roles like this, they just don't come my way. You know, never, I've never had *** role to this, you know, of this magnitude come my way. I've had smaller dramatic roles that have opened the door to roles like this. But when I read this and I was just, I was blown away by this, by this character, the pureness of Leonard, you know, and he's, you know, again, like you said, he's this big hulking intimidating person, but really, he's the most gentle kind person you ever want to meet in your life. Um But that's what I loved about it and that's why I wanted this role so bad. This is like such *** massive opportunity for me. Yeah. And you've been, I was talking to night last week when he was over in the UK for this film and he said he compared meeting you to be in like Haley Joel Osmond on Six Cents or James mcavoy on split, it just felt right to him. He found the person that fit *** role that he never expected to. How did you find working with him as *** director? Because you worked with distinctive filmmakers before? Like James Gunn, how did he compare? Uh for one I can't like, it's hard to make the comparison because I've never worked with James Gunn or Denny to this extent, you know, I've never been *** lead role in their films. Whereas with night, you know, not only, not only were we having conversations before the film, but every day on the film, we spent so much time together um and literally just having conversations about the characters and about emotions because and this is what I love about night. He really challenged me in *** way um to perform with these layers of, of emotions. And he never came to me and gave me one simple note. Can you say something this way or can you look that way? Nothing was *** simple note. Everything was *** full on conversation. He'd come and he'd open up his notebook and you have the, you know, the pages there and we'd go over certain beats and we talked about, you know, thought processes and trauma and emotion and also fighting, holding back certain emotions because we're dealing with other responsibilities on top of those emotions. So everything was there was it was like this long philosophical conversation. And again, he like, challenged me every day. When I was very unsure of myself, I was having *** lot of self doubt and I just completely trusted him and I relied on him. And every day I would say, you know, are you happy with it? And he'd say, yeah, I'm happy. We got it, trust me, we got it. And I say, if you're happy, I'm happy. Um But there were *** lot of nights when I went home thinking and I just, I felt like I was off, I could have done better. I questioned myself and I doubted myself, but I know that that film, you know, was going to make me *** stronger actor and also proved and, you know, and prove something, you know, because I stated all along that I wanted to be an actor, *** respected actor. And this was like, now this was kind of put up or shut up. You say, obviously, as you're talking about with Leonard and you weren't sure, but was there *** moment when you were filming where you're like, right? I get this now or are you still *** case that you're still not quite sure that you got Leonard as well as you did? No, I'm still not sure. I really, you know, I still like, you know, nights been hitting, hitting me because he started his press story long before I started mine and he's been hitting me up all along the way. Just telling me, you know, how happy every time he watches it. He just, you know, he tells me how fortunate he was to work with this cast. And so again, he's just been trying to reassure, reassure me because he knows I still have self, self doubt and still feel like I could have done things differently. I could have done things better. I was still, but there was just so much to process. Um But again, I know at the end of the day, no matter what, you know, this made me *** better actor and that's what, you know, that's why I'm in this. This is why I search for these roles because I want to be great at this man and I can't find out how great I can be unless I have roles like Leonard. Yeah. Yeah, definitely. And I feel when you're watching *** channel and film, you know, you're watching his film, he's got *** very distinctive visual style and that in this, there's *** lot of really intense close ups and long takes. Are you aware, were you aware that when you're shooting that this is exactly how he's going to film it. And do, does that change your approach to the performance or does he kind of let you go and then you see it as it comes? Yeah. And it definitely didn't change my approach to the performance because, you know, no matter what the camera where it's at, you know, what's going on, how long it takes are, I'm only, I'm always fully immersed in it, even if I'm off camera I'm in it. Um But it was, again, I knew I was familiar with his style and I knew this was gonna happen. Um What I didn't know is I wasn't, I didn't know he was going to shoot it on film and I, you know that, but just like that became another layer of intimidation. But again, this was like, this was the challenge that I, that I wanted that I welcomed, but I knew it was gonna be challenging and it was, it wasn't easy. This is *** very hard role for me. And remember in this style because, you know, um you know, night is really particular about his dialogue, he writes it *** certain way and he wants it, you know, performed that way. Uh So again, this was something that was challenging but uh in the best way, in the best possible way and from every role, I imagine you do take lessons from each role that will take on to your future roles and your future acting career for this one, it might be too hard to say. But was there *** particular thing you took that you learn on this film that you feel will come back in future roles? I did and you know what, what, what I did learn and still, you know, it's *** struggle and I don't know if I could do this again without being directed this way because *** lot of times when you're performing and when you're sucked into *** moment, you're in that moment, you're living that moment and you're feeling *** certain way. But night constantly reminded me that although I was feeling *** certain way I had still had *** responsibility to be in charge, to be guidance. I have other people that are responsible for. So even if I'm being tortured inside and what I'm doing is just impossible and impossible for me to do. And my heart is breaking. I still have to give an appearance that I'm in control. I'm in charge, everybody is okay. You know, and so that was *** real, like that was *** real struggle that was like juggling emotions. And so that was like something I've never been asked to do before. And I, you know, but I, I know that I can, I think that I accomplished that and I only know that because I've been reassured by night that I did accomplish it. And every day I was asking him, are you sure I got it because I wasn't really sure what I was doing. But I know that if I'm asked to do that in the future, that I'm at least familiar with, with what that requires. Yeah. And next up obviously on screen later this year, we'll be seeing you in guardian screen I know you can't say *** single thing about that movie, but has it sunk in yet that this is, this, is it for Drax? Has it sunk in or don't you feel that will happen until after the press tour for that film and, or the hype around that? I think that's when it's gonna happen for me. I don't know what everybody else's experience. I only wrapped, I wrapped in the worst possible way on that film because it was such *** long journey. And when I rapped on that film, it was *** Friday night in Los Angeles and I wrapped on the film and I was immediately rushed off to get on *** plane to go to Philadelphia to start filming, knocking the cabin on Monday. I've never really got *** chance to say goodbye to everyone. There was never that really moment to kind of let it set in and, and that realization and that closure. Um So it's, you know, it hasn't really hit me yet. I've been talking about it but the emotions haven't hit me and I know they will when we, when I see the film and when I see everyone, we're on *** press tour and we're saying goodbye because there were days when we talked about it on set and we took pictures and we made videos and we knew that this, you know, I remember shooting the last scene that we were all gonna shoot together and it wasn't, the last day, wasn't even close to the last day, but it was the last time that the original version of the Guardians of the Galaxy were on set together and we were all in tears. And so I'm sure that there's, there's more of that to come because it is, it's *** very bittersweet thing. It's like, I feel very like, accomplished and proud of what we did, what we left behind. But also I'm leaving behind people that, you know, I've been on this journey with for 10 years and they're family to me now and I love them dearly. And *** lot of times in this business, when you go your separate ways, you go your separate ways. So it's like leaving family members behind it. I don't know if I'm gonna see you again or not. It's ***, it's *** hard thing and it's also, it's just, it's just sad because we did this and we were so proud of what we did. And when we first started this journey, we weren't *** big Blockbuster franchise. We were quirky characters. You know, everybody was kind of expecting to fail. But we there, you know, me, Zoe and Chris and James and Sean, we knew that it was, it was special, it felt special, it felt good and we're all just so proud of what we were doing and we had so much fun, what we were doing and we knew it was great. But you know, later on everybody else found out. But we knew from the very beginning in those early days filming together that was something special. And 10 years later, you know, seeing what we have accomplished is just, it's *** very surreal thing and it's *** very bittersweet thing to say goodbye. I imagine that we will be just as emotional to say goodbye. I'm sure. Has it? Have you thought as well? Obviously, with next steps in your career, could you see yourself doing that kind of role again, in the sense of it's *** role that, you know, you had to, you've got like two free form commitment or do you feel that now is the time that you'll be taking out singular rolls to try something new? You consider that at all? I'm open minded to any role, I'm open minded to any genre. I'm just open minded about my career. I just depends on what the role is. And I, you know, it depends on who I'm working with. I really, you know, I just want to work with very talented people and it's really, it's really only to find out how good I can be. And I always, you know, I gauge my success on the success of the people I'm working with. You know, I don't need an Academy Award. I mean, it doesn't mean anything to me being on the conversation means something to me working with people who have won Academy Awards means something to me because that's the way I can gauge of where I, where I've come, you know, how far I've come since I started acting. Um, but, uh, Yeah, I think that's it. I'm open minded to any role and I would sign up for another trilogy. It just has to make sense. It has to be *** role, worth, worth it for me because, you know, *** trilogy, you know, I'm 54. Now, *** trilogy is gonna be over the span of 10 years I'm guessing. So it just has to be, has to be worth it to me. But if it's the right role, of course I would take it.

For the first time in almost two months, the box office doesn't belong to blue people. After seven weeks as the top film in theaters, “Avatar: The Way of Water” was finally knocked out of the No. 1 spot by the M. Night Shyamalan thriller “Knock at the Cabin” and the octogenarian comedy “80 for Brady."“Knock at the Cabin,” a home invasion horror film with an apocalyptic riff, dethroned James Cameron's 3-D sci-fi epic with $14.2 million in ticket sales at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to studio estimates Sunday. The Universal Pictures release stars Dave Bautista as one of four strangers who approach a family vacationing in a rural cabin. The opening for “Knock at the Cabin” came up shy of some of Shyamalan's recent releases. His last film, 2021's “Old," about a beach that rapidly ages those who visit it, launched with $16.9 million and ultimately collected $90.1 million worldwide. His 2019 film “Glass," the third installment in the director's “Unbreakable” trilogy, opened with $40.3 million on its way to grossing $247 million globally. Every other film directed by Shyamalan has opened higher than “Knock at the Cabin."But “Knock at the Cabin" still marks Shyamalan's seventh film as director to open No. 1. With a modest budget of $20 million, “Knock at the Cabin” should easily turn a profit. The film, which drew mostly positive reviews from critics (68% on Rotten Tomatoes), added another $7 million internationally.Taking second place was “80 for Brady," a comedy about four friends (Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Rita Moreno and Sally Field) who take a trip to the 2017 Super Bowl. It opened with an estimated $12.5 million. Shortly after announcing his retirement from football (again), Tom Brady attended the film's premiere.Paramount Pictures employed a unique strategy in releasing “80 for Brady.” While many films have sought to capitalize on higher ticket prices through large-format or 3-D screenings or surge pricing, which films like “The Batman" have tried, Paramount went the other direction on “80 for Brady.” The studio partnered with exhibitors, including the largest chains, to play “80 for Brady” at matinee prices to help lure its largely older audience. (Half of ticket buyers were over the age of 55.)It seemed to work. At a time when comedies have struggled mightily in theaters, “80 for Brady” (with a production budget of $28 million) had one of the best openings for a live-action comedy in years. Discount pricing is to continue for the rest of the film's run.“Avatar: The Way of Water” slide to third with $10.8 million domestically in its eighth weekend. The film's No. 1 streak matched the run of 2009's “Avatar." In the last four decades, only those two by Cameron and his “Titanic" (1997) have had such sustained reigns atop the box office.“The Way of Water” continues to perform especially strongly overseas, where its $27.9 million this weekend pushed its overall total to $2.17 billion worldwide. That puts it at fourth highest gross of all-time; Cameron — with two “Avatar” films and “Titanic” — now accounts for three of the top four.“BTS: Yet to Come in Cinemas" took in $5.1 million to land in fifth place. The BTS concert film is drawn from their October 2022 performance in Busan, South Korea — a send-off show before the group began a two-year hiatus. It opened in 1,111 locations.Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to Comscore. <p>Two of Disney's most successful animated film franchises will be getting another sequel. </p>
<p>CEO Bob Iger said fans can expect new "Toy Story" and "Frozen" movies. </p>
<p>The original "Toy Story" was released in 1995. It featured Tom Hanks as "Woody" and Tim Allen as "Buzz Lightyear." The latest installment in the series was "Toy Story 4," which was released in 2019. It won the Academy Award for best animated feature in 2020 and grossed over $1 billion.</p>
<p>The next "Frozen" film will be the third in the franchise. The first two films grossed over $1 billion each. The original "Frozen" movie also earned the Academy Award for best animated feature. </p>
<p>A date for the new releases has not been released. </p>
<p>The move announcements come as Disney undergoes a "strategic transformation." The transformation includes 7,000 job cuts. </p>
<p>“We are going to a really hard look at everything we make," Iger said. </p>
<p>Disney will try to reduce its non-sports content costs annually by about $3 billion.</p>
<p>"Things in a more competitive world have simply gotten more expensive,” Iger stated.</p>

Oscar weekend belonged to "Scream VI" in theaters, as the horror sequel notched a franchise-best $44.5 million in domestic ticket sales, according to studio estimates Sunday. The Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media Group co-production sailed past expectations, easily surpassing the previous series high of $32 million that "Scream 2" opened with in 1997. The film's robust debut, coming as Hollywood prepared to gather for the 95th Academy Awards, was yet another reminder of how horror has come to be one of the industry's few sure things at the box office. After lying dormant for more than a decade, the "Scream" franchise, previously directed by Wes Craven and released by Dimension Films, has found a ripe revival with a young cast led by "Wednesday" star Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera.Directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett have brought back the 27-year-old series' meta slasher storylines and serial killer Ghostface, and it's paying off. Last year's "Scream V" grossed $137 million worldwide on a production budget of $24 million. In the latest chapter, Courtney Cox returns as reporter Gale Weathers, as does Hayden Panettiere, a veteran of "Scream IV." But it's the first "Scream" movie without Neve Campbell."Scream VI," quickly greenlit after the success of "V," has also fared fairly well with both critics and audiences. On Rotten Tomatoes, it has a 75% fresh rating. Moviegoers gave it a "B+" CinemaScore, a decent grade for a horror film. The sixth "Scream," which cost $33 million to make, added $22.6 million overseas.Last week's top film, "Creed III," slid to second after its above-expectations launch. Michael B. Jordan's MGM "Rocky" spinoff, starring him and Jonathan Majors, earned $27.1 million in its second weekend. It has rapidly passed $100 million in U.S. and Canadian theaters.Columbia Pictures' "65," a science-fiction thriller starring Adam Driver as a space explorer stranded on prehistoric Earth, opened in third place with an estimated $12.3 million from 3,405 locations, and an additional $7.2 million internationally. That might be better than expected, too, for a film that got terrible reviews from critics. (It scored just 35% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.) But "65" reportedly carried a hefty production budget of about $90 million, though tax rebates roughly halved that cost to financiers including Sony, Bron Studios and TSG.Bobby Farrelly's "Champions," starring Woody Harrelson as a disgraced coach trying to lead a basketball team to the Special Olympics, opened with $5.2 million in 3,030 locations. Audiences (an "A" CinemaScore) have liked it more than reviewers (53% on Rotten Tomatoes).Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to Comscore. Final domestic figures will be released Monday.1. "Scream VI," $44.5 million.2. "Creed III," $27.1 million.3. "65," $12.3 million.4. "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania," $7 million.5. "Cocaine Bear," $6.2 million.6. "Jesus Revolution," $5.2 million.7. "Champions," $5.2 million.8. "Avatar: The Way of Water," $2.7 million.9. The producers of the 95th Academy Awards have promised a show that will pull audiences in and keep them entertained for the duration. Actor Will Smith's slap of host Chris Rock dominated headlines after last year's show and a crisis team is in place for any unexpected twists, but the showrunners want to move forward with new material at this year's ceremony. Here are the moments everyone is talking about from the 2023 Oscars. (All updates in ET).10:25 p.m. On her way on stage to present the Oscar for Visual Effects, actress and director Elizabeth Banks nearly tripped on her gown, but caught herself before arriving to the microphone. When she finally announced the nominees, someone in a bear suit stood next to her, a reference to "Cocaine Bear," a film she directed that recently hit theaters. The bear made hand signals that Banks translated for the audience.“Avatar: The Way of Water” won the 2023 Oscar for Visual Effects.10:10 p.m.“All Quiet on the Western Front,” scored by Volker Bertelmann, won the 2023 Oscar for Best Original Score. The film also won the Oscar for Best Production Design. How does voting for the Oscars work? This is how winners are decidedOscars producers promise they're 'not trying to be rude' by playing off winners during speechesWhy Tom Cruise is skipping the 2023 Oscars despite all those 'Top Gun: Maverick' nominations10 p.m.Lady Gaga changed out of her elegant black Versace runway gown and opted for black ripped jeans and a black T-shirt for her performance of the Oscar-nominated song "Hold My Hand" from "Top Gun: Maverick."The singer and actress showed up on the red carpet following reports that she would be unable to attend due to her filming schedule for the "Joker" sequel.9:35 p.m. Jenny, who played the donkey in “The Banshees of Inisherin,” graced the Oscars stage wearing a bedazzled emotional support animal vest.“Not only is Jenny an actor, she’s a certified emotional support donkey,” host Jimmy Kimmel said. “At least that’s what we told the airline to get her on the plane from Ireland.”As Kimmel pointed out her co-stars seated in the audience, Colin Farrell blew her a kiss.Farrell thanked Jenny when he won a Golden Globe earlier this year.9:30 p.m. “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” won the 2023 Oscar for Best Costume Design.9:15 p.m.“The Whale” won the 2023 Oscar for Best Makeup and Hairstyling.9:55 p.m.“The Elephant Whisperers” won the 2023 Oscar for Best Documentary Short Film. Shortly after, “The Boy, the Mole, the Fox, and the Horse” won the 2023 Oscar for Best Animated Short Film.9:50 p.m. Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone — who got her start in South Indian cinema with a Kannada-language film — introduced the performance of best original song nominee “Naatu Naatu,” from the Telegu-language “RRR.”The high-energy performance, featuring playback singers Kaala Bhairava and Rahul Sipligunj and a squadron of dancers, was still relatively tame — there was no dancing in the aisles like there's been at screenings in Hollywood.9:40 p.m. “All Quiet on the Western Front” won the 2023 Oscar for Best International Feature Film. Earlier in the ceremony, James Friend, who shot the movie, won the 2023 Oscar for Best Cinematography. 9:20 p.m.Jenny, who played the donkey in “The Banshees of Inisherin,” graced the Oscars stage wearing a bedazzled emotional support animal vest.“Not only is Jenny an actor, she’s a certified emotional support donkey,” host Jimmy Kimmel said. “At least that’s what we told the airline to get her on the plane from Ireland.”As Kimmel pointed out her co-stars seated in the audience, Colin Farrell blew her a kiss.Farrell thanked Jenny when he won a Golden Globe earlier this year.8:55 p.m. Melissa McCarthy and Halle Bailey took the Oscars stage to introduce a brand new trailer for Disney's newest live-action version of "The Little Mermaid."In the trailer, audiences get a fuller glimpse of McCarthy as Ursula and Bailey as Ariel, along with Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric and Javier Bardem as King Triton."The Little Mermaid," which is directed by Rob Marshall, will hit theaters on May 26. 8:50 p.m. “Navalny” won the 2023 Oscar for Best Documentary Feature Film."My husband is in prison just for telling the truth. My husband is in prison just for defending democracy," Yulia Navalnaya said. “Alexei, I am dreaming of the day when you will be free and our country will be free. Stay strong, my love.”The documentary “Navalny ” follows the Russian opposition leader and his poisoning. Navalny is now in solitary confinement in prison in Russia.8:45 p.m. Here’s an Oscar song that wasn’t planned: “Happy birthday” was performed, on stage and by many in the audience, for “An Irish Goodbye” star James Martin after its win for Best Live Action Short Film. The actor turned 31 on Sunday.Martin has Down syndrome, and his story — from Starbucks barista to the Oscar stage — has captured the imagination of many in recent weeks.8:35 p.m. Jamie Lee Curtis won the 2023 Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in “Everything Everywhere All at Once.”“My mother and father were both nominated for Oscars in different categories — I just won an Oscar," Jamie Lee Curtis said, crying. Her parents were actors Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh.8:30 p.m. Ke Huy Quan won the 2023 Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in “Everything Everywhere All at Once.”Ke Huy Quan tends to get emotional any time he contemplates his sudden reversal of fate. Ever since “Everything Everywhere All at Once” opened in theaters earlier this year, 51-year-old Quan — who a lifetime ago was the iconic child star of “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom,” as Short Round and Data in “Goonies” — has been, he says, “overwhelmed by emotions every day.”After being one of the most recognizable faces of the 80s, Quan, disheartened by a lack of roles and opportunities, decided to quit in his 20s. At 49, he gave it one last shot and two weeks later booked “Everything Everywhere All at Once.”“For the longest time, all I wanted was just a job,” Quan said. “Just an opportunity to act, to show people what I can do. This movie, ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once,’ has given me so much beyond anything I could have ever asked for.”“There are so many people out there who doubt themselves, who have dreams they’ve given up or didn’t think would ever come true,” Quan added. “To those people, I hope my story inspires them.” 8:20 p.m. “Guillermo del Toro’s Pinnochio” has won the 2023 Oscar for Best Animated Feature.8:15 p.m. Jimmy Kimmel opened the 95th Academy Awards with lighthearted jokes directed at several nominees after pretending to parachute onto the stage. In an opening skit, Kimmel seemingly sits behind Tom Cruise in a "Top Gun" fighter jet, pulls off a helmet with the call sign "Meatball" and then appeared on stage shortly after being advised to eject from the plane.Kimmel told jokes about "Top Gun: Maverick," Steven Spielberg and addressed the 2022 incident where Will Smith slapped Oscars host Chris Rock. 8 p.m. Lady Gaga isn’t kidding around — she’s not only added a last-minute performance at the Oscars, but also walked its carpet. The “Hold My Hand” singer wasn’t expected at the show but was confirmed as a performer Sunday. She was among the late arrivals on the Oscars’ champagne-colored carpet.Producers had initially cited her schedule on the “Joker” sequel as the reason she couldn’t perform. The superstar could win her second Academy Award if the “Top Gun: Maverick” track wins best original song Sunday. The Associated Press contributed to this story.

<p>
Last year was a dress rehearsal for the future of movie theaters. This year will show if movies theaters are back for real. After a terrible 2020 that ravaged the movie theater industry, cineplexes turned on their projectors in 2021 for big hits like "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings," "Venom: Let There Be Carnage" and "Spider-Man: No Way Home" — one of the biggest blockbusters of all time.Other films like "Black Widow" and Warner Bros' entire slate of movies went with a hybrid approach, releasing films in theaters and at home via streaming simultaneously.Overall, the North American box office snagged $4.5 billion in 2021, a 101% increase over 2020, but a nearly 60% drop from 2019, according to Comscore. But the fact that theaters were able to show any films at all should be considered a victory given that in 2020 some were predicting the end of movie-going as we know it."Recovery has no straight-line""Recovery has no straight-line progression in this instance, especially with Covid variants and vaccine hesitation prolonging the health crisis," Shawn Robbins, chief analyst at Boxoffice.com, told CNN Business. He added that 2022 could be a better year given "a stronger movie release slate, pandemic fatigue in general, and fewer films expected to be siphoned off to streaming immediately upon release."Ultimately, though, the fate of this year's box office will depend on what theaters can offer moviegoers. And luckily for them, there are plenty of big films on the 2022 docket.Marvel Studios — the biggest blockbuster brand in Hollywood — has "Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness," "Thor: Love and Thunder" and "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever." Horror — one of Hollywood's most reliable genres — returns with big names like Jordan Peele's "Nope" and "Halloween Ends," the next installment in the Michael Myers franchise.Action films will get a double dose of Tom Cruise with "Top Gun: Maverick" and "Mission: Impossible 7." Audiences will again return to Jurassic Park with "Jurassic World: Dominion" and the Justice League will try to save the world multiple times with "The Batman," "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom" and "The Flash."There also will be potential animated hits this year with Pixar's "Lightyear," "Minions: The Rise of Gru" and "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse — Part One."Oh yes, James Cameron's "Avatar 2" — the sequel to the biggest blockbuster of all time — is also set for theaters this year."On the release schedule for 2022 is an incredible array of potential hits, but there's still a lot of uncertainty," Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst at Comscore, told CNN Business. "And studios are once again faced with making the big decisions on not only when, but also how to release their film."To stream or not to streamAll of these films are currently set to be released in theaters, but it may not stay that way. Streaming has given studios the opportunity to decide whether to boost ticket sales by releasing films theatrically or try to boost subscribers by sending films to streaming services.Disney — Hollywood's most significant studio — has already made its choice for one of its 2022 films by pushing the next Pixar movie, "Turning Red," directly to Disney+.But after roughly two years of premiering big films at home, do consumers want to stream blockbusters from home? Will we see more of it in 2022?"The ebb and flow of the popularity of streaming is mainly determined by the ups and downs of the pandemic," Dergarabedian said. "That has created not only a conundrum for studios, but also for consumers who are torn between their desire to see blockbuster films on the big screen at their local multiplex or from the comfort of the couch at home."Robbins maintains that while an increasing number of star-driven films with high production value are being released by streamers, "very few of them have tapped into the cultural zeitgeist in the way major theatrical releases with strong word of mouth still do.""Although certain viewing habits are changing and evolving, I believe at the end of the day the right content at the right time clearly separates the experiential quality of watching something on TV or on a mobile device from that of a state-of-the-art theatrical setting with a live audience," he added.Robbins continued, "A myriad of factors determine what audiences want and where they want it from. Theatrical and streaming can coexist."The $40 billion questionIn 2019, the global box office topped $40 billion thanks to hits like "Avengers: Endgame," "Joker" and "Spider-Man: Far From Home."That number was wiped out in 2020, and 2021 will likely reach only half of that. Which begs the question: Given the lingering pandemic, will theaters ever get back to those box office heights?"Absolutely possible," says Robbins. But the question for him is when."I don't think anyone can confidently answer that yet until the pandemic has a less dominant presence in global news headlines and a diminished impact on everyday lives," he said. "Until then, the overall consumer base will continue to be abnormally divided between those going back, those wanting to go back, and those who won't go back nearly as often as they used to."The 2022 box office has its first test this weekend with "Scream," the fifth installment in the horror franchise. The film, which brings back original stars like Neve Campbell and Courtney Cox, is projected for roughly a $25 million domestic opening.

<p>Action films will get a double dose of Tom Cruise with "Top Gun: Maverick" and "Mission: Impossible 7." Audiences will again return to Jurassic Park with "Jurassic World: Dominion" and the Justice League will try to save the world multiple times with "The Batman," "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom" and "The Flash."</p>
<p>There also will be potential animated hits this year with Pixar's "Lightyear," "Minions: The Rise of Gru" and "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse — Part One."</p>
<p>Oh yes, James Cameron's "Avatar 2" — the sequel to the biggest blockbuster of all time — is also set for theaters this year.</p>
<p>"On the release schedule for 2022 is an incredible array of potential hits, but there's still a lot of uncertainty," Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst at Comscore, told CNN Business. "And studios are once again faced with making the big decisions on not only when, but also how to release their film."</p>
<h3 class="body-h3">To stream or not to stream</h3>
<p>All of these films are currently set to be released in theaters, but it may not stay that way. Streaming has given studios the opportunity to decide whether to boost ticket sales by releasing films theatrically or try to boost subscribers by sending films to streaming services.</p>
<p>Disney — Hollywood's most significant studio — has already made its choice for one of its 2022 films by pushing the next Pixar movie, "Turning Red," <a href="https://variety.com/2022/film/news/turning-red-disney-plus-pixar-skip-theaters-1235149234/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">directly to Disney+</a>.</p>
<p>But after roughly two years of premiering big films at home, do consumers want to stream blockbusters from home? Will we see more of it in 2022?</p>
<p>"The ebb and flow of the popularity of streaming is mainly determined by the ups and downs of the pandemic," Dergarabedian said. "That has created not only a conundrum for studios, but also for consumers who are torn between their desire to see blockbuster films on the big screen at their local multiplex or from the comfort of the couch at home."</p>
<p>Robbins maintains that while an increasing number of star-driven films with high production value are being released by streamers, "very few of them have tapped into the cultural zeitgeist in the way major theatrical releases with strong word of mouth still do."</p>
<p>"Although certain viewing habits are changing and evolving, I believe at the end of the day the right content at the right time clearly separates the experiential quality of watching something on TV or on a mobile device from that of a state-of-the-art theatrical setting with a live audience," he added.</p>
<p>Robbins continued, "A myriad of factors determine what audiences want and where they want it from. Theatrical and streaming can coexist."</p>
<h3 class="body-h3">The $40 billion question</h3>
<p>In 2019, the global box office topped $40 billion thanks to hits like "Avengers: Endgame," "Joker" and "Spider-Man: Far From Home."</p>
<p>That number was wiped out in 2020, and 2021 will likely reach only half of that. Which begs the question: Given the lingering pandemic, will theaters ever get back to those box office heights?</p>
<p>"Absolutely possible," says Robbins. But the question for him is when.</p>
<p>"I don't think anyone can confidently answer that yet until the pandemic has a less dominant presence in global news headlines and a diminished impact on everyday lives," he said. "Until then, the overall consumer base will continue to be abnormally divided between those going back, those wanting to go back, and those who won't go back nearly as often as they used to."</p>
<p>The 2022 box office has its first test this weekend with "Scream," the fifth installment in the horror franchise. The film, which brings back original stars like Neve Campbell and Courtney Cox, is projected for roughly a $25 million domestic opening.</p>

Peter Bogdanovich, the ascot-wearing cinephile and director of 1970s black-and-white classics like “The Last Picture Show” and “Paper Moon,” has died. He was 82.Bogdanovich died early Thursday morning at this home in Los Angeles, said his daughter, Antonia Bogdanovich. She said he died of natural causes Considered part of a generation of young “New Hollywood” directors, Bogdanovich was heralded as an auteur from the start, with the chilling lone shooter film “Targets” and soon after “The Last Picture Show,” from 1971, his evocative portrait of a small, dying town that earned eight Oscar nominations, won two (for Ben Johnson and Cloris Leachman) and catapulted him to stardom at the age of 32. He followed “The Last Picture Show” with the screwball comedy “What’s Up, Doc?,” starring Barbra Streisand and Ryan O'Neal, and then the Depression-era road trip film “Paper Moon,” which won 10-year-old Tatum O’Neal an Oscar as well. His turbulent personal life was also often in the spotlight, from his well-known affair with Cybill Shepherd that began during the making of “The Last Picture Show” while he was married to his close collaborator, Polly Platt, to the murder of his Playmate girlfriend Dorothy Stratten and his subsequent marriage to her younger sister, Louise, who was 29 years younger than him.Reactions came in swiftly at the news of his death.“Oh dear, a shock. I am devastated. He was a wonderful and great artist,” said Francis Ford Coppola in an email. "I’ll never forget attending a premiere for ‘The Last Picture Show.’ I remember at its end, the audience leaped up all around me bursting into applause lasting easily 15 minutes. I’ll never forget although I felt I had never myself experienced a reaction like that, that Peter and his film deserved it. May he sleep in bliss for eternity, enjoying the thrill of our applause forever.”Tatum O’Neal posted a photo of herself with him on Instagram, writing “Peter was my heaven &amp; earth. A father figure. A friend. From ‘Paper Moon’ to ‘Nickelodeon’ he always made me feel safe. I love you, Peter.”Guillermo del Toro tweeted: “He was a dear friend and a champion of Cinema. He birthed masterpieces as a director and was a most genial human. He single-handedly interviewed and enshrined the lives and work of more classic filmmakers than almost anyone else in his generation.”Born in Kingston, New York, in 1939, Bogdanovich started out as a film journalist and critic, working as a film programmer at the Museum of Modern Art, where through a series of retrospectives he endeared himself to a host of old guard filmmakers including Orson Welles, Howard Hawks and John Ford.“I’ve gotten some very important one-sentence clues like when Howard Hawks turned to me and said ‘Always cut on the movement and no one will notice the cut,’” he said in an interview with The Associated Press. “It was a very simple sentence but it profoundly affected everything I’ve done.”But his Hollywood education started earlier than that: His father took him at age 5 to see Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton movies at the Museum of Modern Art. He'd later make his own Keaton documentary, “The Great Buster,” which was released in 2018.Bogdanovich and Platt moved to Los Angeles in the mid-1960s, where they attended Hollywood parties and struck up friendships with Corman and Frank Marshall, then just an aspiring producer, who helped get the film “Targets” off the ground. And the professional ascent only continued for the next few films and years. But after “Paper Moon,” which Platt collaborated on after they had separated, he would never again capture the accolades of those first five years in Hollywood.Bogdanovich’s relationship with Shepherd led to the end of his marriage to Platt, with whom he shared daughters Antonia and Sashy, and a fruitful creative partnership. The 1984 film “Irreconcilable Differences” was loosely based on the scandal. He later disputed the idea that Platt, who died in 2011, was an integral part of the success of his early films. He would go on to make two other films with Shepherd, an adaptation of Henry James’s “Daisy Miller” and the musical “At Long Last Love,” neither of which were particularly well-received by critics or audiences. And he also passed on major opportunities at the height of his successes. He told Vulture he turned down “The Godfather,” “Chinatown” and “The Exorcist.”“Paramount called and said, “We just bought a new Mario Puzo book called The Godfather. We’d like you to consider directing it.” I said, “I’m not interested in the Mafia,” he said in the interview.Headlines would continue to follow Bogdanovich for things other than his movies. He began an affair with Playboy Playmate Dorothy Stratten while directing her in “They All Laughed," a romantic comedy with Audrey Hepburn and Ben Gazzara, in the spring and summer of 1980. Her husband, Paul Snider, murdered her that August. Bogdanovich, in a 1984 book titled ″The Killing of the Unicorn: Dorothy Stratten, 1960-1980,″ criticized Hugh Hefner’s Playboy empire for its alleged role in events he said ended in Stratten’s death. Then, nine years later, at 49, he married her younger sister Louise Stratten, who was just 20 at the time. They divorced in 2001, but continued living together, with her mother in Los AngelesIn an interview with the AP in 2020, Bogdanovich acknowledged that his relationships had an impact on his career.“The whole thing about my personal life got in the way of people’s understanding of the movies,” Bogdanovich said. “That’s something that has plagued me since the first couple of pictures.”Despite some flops along the way, Bogdanovich's output remained prolific in the 1980s and 1990s, including a sequel to “The Last Picture Show" called “Texasville,” the country music romantic drama “The Thing Called Love,” which was one of River Phoenix's last films, and, in 2001, “The Cat's Meow,” about a party on William Randolph Hearst's yacht starring Kirsten Dunst as Marion Davies. His last narrative film, “She's Funny that Way,” a screwball comedy starring Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston that he co-wrote with Louise Stratten, debuted to mixed reviews in 2014.Over the years he authored several books about movies, including “Peter Bogdanovich’s Movie of the Week,” “Who the Devil Made It: Conversations with Legendary Film Directors” and “Who the Hell’s in It: Conversations with Hollywood’s Legendary Actors.”He acted semi-frequently, too, sometimes playing himself (in “Moonlighting” and “How I Met Your Mother”) and sometimes other people, like Dr. Elliot Kupferberg on “The Sopranos," and also inspired a new generation of filmmakers, from Wes Anderson to Noah Baumbach.“They call me ‘Pop,’ and I allow it,” he told Vulture. At the time of the AP interview in 2020, coinciding with a podcast about his career with Turner Classic Movies host Ben Mankiewicz, he was hard at work on a television show inspired by Dorothy Stratten, and wasn’t optimistic about the future of cinema.“I just keep going, you know. Television is not dead yet,” he said with a laugh. “But movies may have a problem.”Yet even with his Hollywood-sized ego, Bogdanovich remained deferential to those who came before.“I don’t judge myself on the basis of my contemporaries," he told The New York Times in 1971. "I judge myself against the directors I admire — Hawks, Lubitsch, Buster Keaton, Welles, Ford, Renoir, Hitchcock. I certainly don’t think I’m anywhere near as good as they are, but I think I’m pretty good.”

Peter Parker’s good fortune continued over the holiday weekend as Hollywood prepares to close the books on a turbulent 2021. Even with some mighty competition from new Matrix and Sing movies, and rising concerns over the omicron variant, “Spider-Man: No Way Home” stayed in the No. 1 spot and netted a few more milestones too including crossing the $1 billion mark globally.According to studio estimates Sunday, “Spider-Man” added $81.5 million over the three-day weekend, down 69% from its first weekend. The Sony and Marvel film has now grossed $467 million from North American theaters, more than doubling the domestic grosses of 2021′s previous No. 1 film, “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.”With $587.1 million from 61 overseas markets, in just 12 days of release, “Spider-Man" has grossed $1.05 billion globally. It's the first film of the pandemic to cross $1 billion and is tied with “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” for being the third-fastest film ever to do so — and this without the benefit of its release in China.Universal’s “Sing 2” came in second place with an estimated $23.8 million, while Warner Bros.' “The Matrix Resurrections” grossed $12 million to take third place. The animated musical “Sing 2” features high-profile celebrity talent including Matthew McConaughey, Scarlett Johansson, Reese Witherspoon and Bono, as well as a jukebox soundtrack full of well-known hits. Since its release Wednesday, it’s made $41 million ($1.6 million of that came from Thanksgiving weekend showings) from North America and $65 million worldwide.“We’re extraordinarily pleased,” said Jim Orr, Universal's president of domestic distribution.Orr said the stellar CinemaScore (A+) and audience scores suggest that the film will continue to perform well in the next few weeks, when many kids are still out of school for the holidays. The fourth Matrix also opened on Wednesday and has earned an estimated $22.5 million in its first five days in North America. The film, directed by Lana Wachowski and starring Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss, is currently streaming on HBO Max as well. Globally, it’s grossed $69.8 million to date. While the studio was hoping for a stronger box office, Jeff Goldstein, Warner Bros.' head of domestic distribution, said the movie achieved what they were looking for as an overall strategy including HBO Max.“The Matrix Resurrections" is the last of the 18 Warner Bros. films released in 2021 to debut both in theaters and on HBO Max simultaneously. Starting in 2022, the studio will have a 45-day exclusive theatrical window on their films. In fourth place was Disney and 20th Century’s “The King’s Man,” a prequel to the action-comedy Kingsman series starring Ralph Fiennes. It came in slightly under expectations with $6.4 million from the weekend and $10 million from its first five days. The audience skewed heavily male (65%).The Kurt Warner biopic “American Underdog” opened on Christmas Day and has made an estimated $6.2 million in its two days in release to round out the top five. Zachary Levi stars as Warner, the quarterback who went from undrafted free agent to Hall of Famer.Paul Thomas Anderson’s “Licorice Pizza” expanded nationwide on Christmas, after playing in limited release for a month, and added $2.3 million bringing its total to $3.7 million. And right behind it was the Denzel Washington-directed drama “A Journal For Jordan,” which to $2.2 million. With just a few days left in 2021, the North American box office is currently sitting at $4.3 billion and is likely to net out around $4.4 billion. Pre-pandemic, it was normal for a year's box office to surpass $11 billion.“To say was a roller-coaster year is an understatement,” said Paul Dergarabedian, the senior media analyst for Comscore, Inc. “The marketplace is still facing challenges from the pandemic, but what an amazing capper to one of the most incredible years ever at the box office."He added: “The future of the movie theater a year ago was a big question mark, and a year later it’s here to stay.”Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to Comscore. Final domestic figures will be released Monday.1. “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” $81.5 million.2. “Sing 2,” $23.8 million.3. “The Matrix Resurrections,” $12 million.4. “The King’s Man,” $6.4 million.5. “American Underdog,” $6.2 million.6. “West Side Story,” $2.8 million.7. “Licorice Pizza,” $2.3 million.8. “A Journal For Jordan,” $2.2 million.9. “Encanto,” $2 million.10. “83,” $1.8 million.

James Bond star Daniel Craig was made an honorary officer of the United Kingdom's Royal Navy on Thursday — matching his onscreen 007 persona, who holds the rank of commander."I am delighted to welcome honorary Commander Daniel Craig to the Royal Navy," First Sea Lord Admiral Sir Tony Radakin, the head of the Royal Navy, said in a news statement. Video above: Everything you need to remember before "No Time to Die""Daniel Craig is well known for being Commander Bond for the last 15 years -- a naval officer who keeps Britain safe through missions across the globe. That's what the real Royal Navy does every day, using technology and skill the same way as Bond himself."Craig wants to use his new military status — commander is the seventh-highest rank in the Royal Navy — as a way to help U.K. military families, according to the statement.Craig is about to star as the British super-spy for the fifth time in "No Time to Die," which the U.K. military is also using to highlight some of its newest hardware.HMS Dragon, a new Type 45 air defense destroyer, appears in the movie, the Defense Ministry said. The Royal Navy's website calls the 8,000-ton, 500-foot warship one of the most advanced in the world. In a June exercise off Scotland, HMS Dragon used its weapon systems to "smash an incoming missile into a million pieces," a Royal Navy release said."I cannot believe how lucky I am to be part of this; the flames were massive!" one of the ship's officers, Sub Lieutenant Ben Craddock, said in the statement. That's the kind of action you'd expect from a James Bond movie.Other U.K. hardware, including C-17 Globemaster cargo jets like those that participated in the recent international airlift out of Kabul, Afghanistan, is also featured. But the Royal Navy said the real attention, of course, is on Craig."Our honorary officers act as ambassadors and advocates for the service, sharing their time and expertise to spread the message about what our global, modern, and ready Royal Navy is doing around the world," Radakin said.Being part of one of history's most successful box-office franchises won't hurt spreading that message either.

<p>NEW YORK, N.Y. – ViacomCBS announced the lineup of TV shows that will be available on its Paramount+ streaming platform, including multiple revivals and spinoffs of some fan favorites.</p>
<p>Paramount+, which will launch on March 4, will feature a combination of live sports, breaking news and a “mountain of entertainment” from the company’s portfolio of brands, like BET, CBS, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, Paramount Pictures and the Smithsonian Channel.</p>
<p>Below are a few shows being revived or spun off by the company:</p>
<p><b>Frasier</b></p>
<p>The long-running NBC sitcom “Frasier” is one of the most noteworthy shows being revived on the streaming service. Kelsey Grammer is set to reprise his role as Dr. Frasier Crane. The company says, “Frasier’s back – and he’s more exactly the same than ever.”</p>
<p><b>Rugrats</b></p>
<p>An all-new series featuring the iconic babies of “Rugrats” is coming to Paramount+. It will incorporate the original voice cast and new computer graphics animation.</p>
<p><b>Avatar</b></p>
<p>A wide-range of “Avatar”-inspired content, ranging from spinoffs of “The Last Airbender,” theatricals and short form content.</p>
<p><b>iCarly</b></p>
<p>Original cast members Miranda Cosgrove, Nathan Kress and Jerry Trainor will reunite to take a look at the “new chapter” of “iCarly.” It will look at the characters’ present-day lives.</p>
<p><b>Criminal Minds</b></p>
<p>“Criminal Minds” is returning with a new scripted series that brings the team back together to investigate a single case over 10 episodes.</p>
<p><b>Yellowstone</b></p>
<p>Fans of “Yellowstone” will be excited to hear that the show is getting a spinoff, tentatively titled “6666.” ViacomCBS gave this description: “founded when Comanches still ruled West Texas, no ranch in America is more steeped in the history of the West than the 6666. Still operating as it did two centuries before, and encompassing an entire county, the 6666 is where the rule of law and the laws of nature merge in a place where the most dangerous thing one does is the next thing…”</p>
<p><b>Dora the Explorer</b></p>
<p>A new live-action series based on “Dora the Explorer” is being produced. It’s said to be designed for an older audience of kids 6-11 and their families.</p>
<p><b>SpongeBob</b></p>
<p>The first-ever spinoff of “SpongeBob SquarePants” will premiere on the platform. “Kamp Koral” will take viewers back to when the show’s character met for the first time, in a summer camp “like no other.”</p>
<p><b>The Fairly OddParents</b></p>
<p>The remake of “The Fairly OddParents” will be a “live-action take on one of Nick’s longest running and most successful animated hits.”</p>
<p><b>The Real World</b></p>
<p>“The Real World: Homecoming: New York” will reunite the original “seven strangers” that paved the way for modern reality TV. They’ll move back into the New York loft where it all began.</p>
<p><b>Inside Amy Schumer</b></p>
<p>The Comedy Central franchise will return with five specials starring comedian and actress Amy Schumer.</p>
<p><b>The Game</b></p>
<p>The popular BET sitcom is returning with a mix of original cast members and “new players.” It’s said to offer a modern-day examination of Black culture through the prism of pro football.</p>

<p>VICTOR, Colo. — In the middle of the Rocky Mountains lies the City of Gold Mines, but gold isn’t the only treasure nestled in Victor, Colorado. Victor Trading Company is a gem in itself and manager Karen Morrison knows it all too well.</p>
<p>“But it’s kind of stuck in a time warp," Morrison said.</p>
<p>The shop will send you back more than 100 years.</p>
<p>"Very circa 1900," Morrison said. "Guy this morning just walks in the door and goes, 'this is my kind of place.'”</p>
<p>After more than three decades running the shop, Morrison says it wasn’t always like it is today.</p>
<p>“We started with a Christmas shop, but Christmas doesn’t sell in Victor," Morrison said.</p>
<p>What does sell? Handmade items. From famous brooms to printing, they do it all. They even make 19th-century cans.</p>
<p>“Historically correct cans, as far as we know, we are the only ones doing them," Morrison said.</p>
<p>It all started when a reenactment of the Civil War called for 19th-century cans. So, Morrison tried to replicate them.</p>
<p>“A lot of the reenactors tell me they are scary good," Morrison said.</p>
<p>They were so good that they got noticed all over the country and her skills were needed in Holly wood.</p>
<p>“Disney called up one year," Morrison said. “The first one was 'The Missing' with Tommy Lee Jones.”</p>
<p>These cans were made specifically as props for movies like "The Lighthouse," "The Missing," and even "The Greatest Showman."</p>
<p>“And then they tell us that they need the cans and oh we’re going to film a musical about PT Barnum and you’re going 'really?' And it was 'The Greatest Showman' and that was a really neat movie," Morrison said.</p>
<p>These multi-million dollar productions found the only place that makes these recreations and what makes them so special is the attention to detail.</p>
<p>“They don’t expect it, they don’t expect it here in Victor," Morrison said. “When you start looking, people online sometimes have antique labels that have never been used and they are not cheap, but I need one because I make a color copy, so I preserve the original label. But the labels are so gorgeous that they did such artwork and graphics back then. We have almost 300 different can labels that we make the cans for now.”</p>
<p>Each can is made through this careful process to create a hole and cap style which is pre-1920.</p>
<p>“It’s rewarding that people come in here and want to buy something that we made," Morrison said. “I guess we were meant for this and I think we’ve kind of helped Victor as well because people know about us so they come here.”</p>
<p>It's an unexpected outcome from a shop that stumbled onto success.</p>
<p>“No, this is it, one and only. There isn’t another store like this," Morrison said.</p>
