MOUNT HEALTHY, Ohio — One family is celebrating their first Christmas in their new home after the surprise of a lifetime earlier this month.

Ebony Johnson and her family received a fully-furnished home in early December thanks in part to a bond she made with loyal Dunkin' customer Suzanne Burke. The two met three years ago in a drive-thru, talking every time Burke got her morning coffee.

When Burke noticed her friend was not working her usual shift, she reached out, learning the mother of three had fallen on hard times and been evicted from her Mount Healthy home. With assistance from different organizations, Burke was able find Johnson's family a home — and furniture.

“I just wanted to see if I could help her just improve her life and the life for her kids," Burke said. "I wanted to make sure that they had stable housing, so that she could continue to provide the excellent service she does at Dunkin'."

Johnson was able to move into the home before Christmas — and her children were able to have their own beds and tons of presents under the tree this year.

"To everyone, thank you so much. They just don't know this is a blessing to me and my kids," Johnson said. "We are very appreciative. So thank you so much."

Johnson said the new home is not the only change. With the help of Burke, Johnson said, she is going to look into a culinary education.

COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Police responded to four shootings in Mt. Healthy and Colerain Township – all occurring within several blocks of each other and leading to responses from four police departments.

The first shooting occurred outside a Walmart in the 8400 block of Colerain Avenue in Colerain Township before midnight on Monday. Shortly after police arrived, there were reports of another shooting on Forest Avenue in Mt. Healthy.

Another shooting was reported nearby on Werner Avenue in Mt. Healthy followed by another shooting call nearby on Arbor Wood Drive in Colerain Township.

Police said no injuries were reported.

"We were able to find evidence that there was some kind of a shooting (at the Walmart)," Jim Love, Public Information Officer for the Colerain Township Police Department, said. "The last one, it seems to have spilled over to Talon Terrace. We haven't found evidence of a shooting yet. But there's still more going on. A handful of police agencies are looking into it and trying to piece it all together."

Police officers from Colerain Township, Springfield Township, Mt. Healthy and North College Hill responded to the reports.

"It's just a matter of being able to connect all the dots and see what it was and how it happened," Love said. "Immediately we had Springfield Township, Mount Healthy and North College Hill come over. Everyone was on high alert. It seems to have been settled now, (but) the question is what was all this?"

MOUNT HEALTHY, Ohio —

At least two people are injured after a serious crash involving a police officer.

According to the Hamilton County Sherriff's Office, the crash happened at 6:10 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Clovernook Avenue and Compton Road in Mt. Healthy.

According to Mt. Healthy police, the incident involved an officer from the Springfield Township Police Department.

Police confirmed that two individuals were transported to two different area hospitals. It is not known if the officer involved was one of the individuals transported.

The Hamilton County Sheriff's office was on scene investigating. The intersection remained closed for about 3 hours while investigators worked to understand what happened.

Police have not released details on how the crash happened.

MOUNT HEALTHY, Ohio — A man is dead after allegedly breaking into his ex-girlfriend's home in Mount Healthy, the Hamilton County Sheriff announced Sunday.

The sheriff's office said Gregory Lyle, 33, entered a house on the 7000 block of Park Avenue through a window around 2:30 a.m. Officials said Lyle assaulted a female resident in the house before being confronted by a male resident who shot Lyle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials said Lyle was the ex-boyfriend of the woman who lived in the home. No one was arrested in the incident.
