MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police in Memphis are looking for a woman who they believe was kidnapped Friday morning.

Authorities say Eliza Fletcher was on a run around 4:30 a.m. when an unknown man approached her and reportedly forced her into a dark-colored SUV near the University of Memphis.

A missing person's report was reportedly filed after Fletcher did not return from her normal run.

According to the Daily Memphian, Fletcher's water bottle and phone were found in front of a house that is owned by the university.

Fletcher was last seen wearing purple shorts and a pink top, police said.

Anyone with information about Fletcher's whereabouts is asked to call 911 or dial 1-800-TBI-FIND.

Police in Memphis, Tennessee, warned residents to shelter in place as a man drives around the city shooting at people on Wednesday night.

Memphis police said 19-year-old Ezekiel Kelly was driving a light blue Infiniti and was responsible for multiple shootings in the city. Police said he later switched vehicles to a grey Toyota SUV with Arkansas license tag AEV63K.

It was not immediately known if anyone had been killed. Police said he was still at large and he was recording his actions on Facebook.

The University of Memphis sent a message to students saying a shooting had been reported near the campus. Rhodes College, which in about 4 miles away from the university, advised students on and off campus to shelter in place.

“If you do not have to be out, stay indoors until this is resolved," Memphis police said on Twitter.

Memphis police spokeswoman Karen Rudolph told WMC-TV that police did not know of a motive for the shooting.

Anyone with information was asked to call 911.

Memphis recently has been shaken by several shootings in recent weeks, including the killing of a pastor during a daylight carjacking in her driveway, the slaying of an activist during an argument over money, and the killing of a woman who was abducted while she was on a pre-dawn run.

Court records show in February of 2020, Kelly, then 17, was charged as an adult with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault, using a firearm to commit a dangerous felony and reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon. Circumstances of the case were not immediately known.

Records show he pleaded guilty to three years in prison. It was not immediately known how much of the sentence he served.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. —

Friends of Tyre Nichols plan to hold a candlelight vigil in his honor on Monday at a Sacramento-area skate park.

Regency Community Skatepark in North Natomas is a place where his childhood friends say they shared a lot of memories while growing up in Sacramento.

"He was just such a genuine person and just such a good friend and to see that happen is, it's just very sad," said Nick Dragonetti, a friend who said he met Nichols at the skatepark when they were in middle school.

Jerome Neal also met Nichols at the skatepark, about 13 years ago.

"He was super sweet, super kind, very humble," Neal said.

The friends did not talk as frequently after Nichols moved to Memphis, Tennessee, but Neal reached out when he visited Memphis last October.

"He linked up with me at the skatepark, and he and I just skated for half the day. We hung out like it was old times. Didn't miss a beat," Neal said.

It was a little bit of time together that means a lot to him, especially now.

"That day was amazing, and now it keeps getting better due to the situation because I'll never have another one with him," Neal said.

The 29-year-old FedEx worker and father died on Jan. 10 after he was beaten by police officers during a traffic stop.

"It was so unbelievable. Our Tyre, the guy we loved. The guy that brought us so much good energy is just gone, just like that," Neal said.

The story has captured the nation's attention.

"A lot of skateboarders across the country feel for Tyre," Dragonetti said.

On social media, professional skateboarder Tony Hawk shared a video of Nichols skating.

Nichols often went to Regency Community Skatepark, where his friends plan to gather Monday night to remember him.

Neal said he will be there even though he was originally supposed to spend the week in Phoenix.

"I'm just canceling half my trip here and going to Sacramento. Something in my heart is telling me I need to be there. Simple as that," he said.

Authorities in Memphis are searching for those responsible for the fatal shooting of a 1-year-old.

Police said the shooting occurred just after 10 p.m. on Wednesday.

Initially, when officers arrived, they found two victims.

Later, police released an update saying that the child was the only victim.

The 1-year-old was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Details of a motive or a description of a suspect were not immediately known.

An arrest warrant has been issued for a Tennessee man wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of rapper Young Dolph, who was gunned down in a daylight ambush at a popular cookie shop in November in his hometown of Memphis, authorities said Wednesday.

A first-degree murder warrant was issued for Justin Johnson, 23, in the Nov. 17 shooting of Young Dolph, whose real name is Adolph Thornton Jr., the U.S. Marshals Service said in a news release.

The marshals service and the Memphis Police Department have been searching for suspects in the killing. A $15,000 reward has been offered for information leading to an arrest. Authorities said Johnson is 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weighs 190 pounds and has the name "Jaiya," tattooed on his right arm.

The shooting stunned the city of Memphis and shocked the entertainment world. Police said two men exited a white Mercedes-Benz and fired shots into a Memphis bakery where Young Dolph, 36, was buying cookies and killed him. Police released photos taken from surveillance video that captured the shooting but investigators have not released any information about a possible motive.

Known for his depictions of tough street life and his independent approach to the music business, Young Dolph was admired for charitable works in Memphis. He organized Thanksgiving food giveaways, donated thousands of dollars to high schools, and paid rent and covered funeral costs for people in the Castalia Heights neighborhood where he was raised.

City officials and community activists pointed to the killing as a symbol of the dangers of gun violence in Memphis, where more than 300 homicides were reported last year.

A private funeral was held for Young Dolph on Nov. 30 and a section of a street in the neighborhood where he grew up was renamed for him Dec. 15. He was honored a day later at a public celebration at FedExForum, the home of the NBA's Memphis Grizzles and the University of Memphis men's basketball team.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis police are searching for two suspects who reportedly stole an expensive wig from a beauty supply store.

In a Facebook post, police said the two women entered the Value Penny Beauty Supply store, picked up a lace front wig, and walked out of the store without paying.

Police said they then got into a green Honda Accord and fled the scene.

Police posted a video of the two suspects dancing their way out of the store.

WREG reported that the wig that was taken could cost up to $600.

According to WREG, the store manager said they know people are going through hard times, so they've been offering customers discounts during the pandemic, and she's more concerned about why they had to steal in the first place.

Police say no arrests have been made, and the investigation is still ongoing.
