NFL quarterback Tom Brady will become an NFL analyst when his playing career is over. The seven-time Super Bowl champion has agreed to join FOX Sports as its lead analyst, the network announced Tuesday."Over the course of this long-term agreement, Tom will not only call our biggest NFL games with Kevin Burkhardt, but will also serve as an ambassador for us, particularly with respect to client and promotional initiatives," Fox CEO Lachlan Murdoch said. "We are delighted that Tom has committed to joining the Fox team and wish him all the best during this upcoming season."Two months ago, in a shocking turn of events, Brady announced he is returning for his 23rd season less than two months after announcing his retirement from football.Brady, 44, announced via social media that he will be looking to take care of "unfinished business" with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this season."These past two months I've realized my place is still on the field and not in the stands. That time will come. But it’s not now. I love my teammates, and I love my supportive family. They make it all possible. I’m coming back for my 23rd season in Tampa," Brady wrote. The seven-time Super Bowl champion and five-time Super Bowl Most Valuable Player will be entering his third season with the Buccaneers after playing the first 20 years of his career with the Patriots, who drafted him with the 199th overall pick in the sixth round of the 2000 NFL draft. On Feb. 1, Brady announced on social media that he would no longer be making the "competitive commitment" needed to play at a high level in the National Football League.Brady's emotional statement specifically mentioned family, the league, his fans, the Buccaneers and others who played a role in his historic career. Notably, coach Bill Belichick, the Kraft family and the words "Patriots" and "retirement" were not mentioned in the statement."I have the greatest respect for Tom personally and always will," Patriots owner Robert Kraft wrote in a statement. "His humility, coupled with his drive and ambition, truly made him special. I will always feel a close bond to him and will always consider him an extension of my immediate family."Brady won his first championship over 20 years ago in just his second NFL season, as he led the Patriots to an upset over the St. Louis Rams in Super Bowl XXXVI on Feb. 3, 2002.He then led New England to back-to-back titles during the 2003 and 2004 seasons. In the process, the Patriots set an NFL record by winning 21 straight games between Week 5 of the 2003 season and Week 8 of the 2004 campaign. After a decade, Brady and the Patriots won three titles in a five-season span from 2014 to 2018. He led two incredible Super Bowl comebacks against the Seattle Seahawks (Feb. 1, 2015) and the Atlanta Falcons (Feb. 5, 2017), the latter of which marked the greatest comeback in Super Bowl history.Brady's final championship with the Patriots came against the Rams, who relocated to Los Angeles, in Super Bowl LIII on Feb. 3, 2019.TB12 left New England in free agency after the 2019 season and joined the Buccaneers in March 2020. Former Patriots star tight end Rob Gronkowski teamed up with Brady in Tampa and they were both instrumental in leading the Bucs' 31-9 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs that season. Brady claimed his fifth Super Bowl MVP trophy in the process.Brady's final season ended with a heartbreaking loss to the Rams in the divisional round of the playoffs last weekend.Patriots fans did get a chance to show their appreciation to Brady this season when he and the Buccaneers visited New England in Week 4. Tampa Bay won 19-17 at Gillette Stadium. In his illustrious career, Brady has earned three NFL regular-season MVP awards (2007, 2010, 2017) and earned his record 15th Pro Bowl selection this season. A man is facing multiple charges in connection to the vandalism of the "Bewitched" statue in Salem, Massachusetts, as the landmark was doused with red paint on Monday.Salem police told sister station WCVB that 32-year-old Kylynn Chambers, a man experiencing homelessness and living in Salem, was arrested on charges of defacing property, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. The "Bewitched" statue, a 6-foot-tall bronze sculpture at the corner of Essex and Washington streets, pays tribute to the well-known 1960s television sitcom "Bewitched" and the filming of its seventh season in Salem. The statue depicts Elizabeth Montgomery, the actress who played the lead character Samantha Stephens, riding a broomstick next to a crescent moon.Witnesses said they saw the "Bewitched" statue being defaced at about 5 p.m. Monday."We smelled, actually, the paint in the air," one witness said. "He was just standing here very nonchalantly with red paint just painting the statue."Photos shared by one witness, Tim Keough, show part of the statue depicting Montgomery's face and torso covered in red paint."There was nothing written on it. There was no sign. He could have spray-painted something on the ground. None of that," said Salem resident Jeffrey Lilley. "It was just from her waist up and her arms and her face." "She's kind of become, you know, a signature statue in this town. So it's sad. It's random, but it's got people talking about it," said an employee of the Peabody Essex Museum. "So she's going to get some more publicity."Beth Crowley of Witch City Walking Tours said "this isn't the first time that people were really upset about the statue.""People believed that the 'Samantha' statue was actually making a joke of the Salem witch trials, which was a very somber time," she said.Crews power washed the "Bewitched" statue Monday night and were able to clean all the paint off of it, allowing tourists to take photos with it.There is no serious damage to the statue, but some of the patina — the finish over the statue's surface that developed over time due to weather, stress and/or age — was washed off during the cleaning process."Bewitched" aired for eight seasons on ABC from September 1964 to March 1972. The show is about a witch who marries an ordinary man and tries to lead a normal life.Montgomery earned five Primetime Emmy Award nominations and four Golden Globe Award nominations for her work on "Bewitched." She died of cancer in 1995 at the age of 62.The "Bewitched" statue in Salem was unveiled in 2005.

<p>"She's kind of become, you know, a signature statue in this town. So it's sad. It's random, but it's got people talking about it," said an employee of the Peabody Essex Museum. "So she's going to get some more publicity."</p>
<p>Beth Crowley of Witch City Walking Tours said "this isn't the first time that people were really upset about the statue."</p>
<p>"People believed that the 'Samantha' statue was actually making a joke of the Salem witch trials, which was a very somber time," she said.</p>
<p>Crews power washed the "Bewitched" statue Monday night and were able to clean all the paint off of it, allowing tourists to take photos with it.</p>
<p>There is no serious damage to the statue, but some of the patina — the finish over the statue's surface that developed over time due to weather, stress and/or age — was washed off during the cleaning process.</p>
<p>"Bewitched" aired for eight seasons on ABC from September 1964 to March 1972. The show is about a witch who marries an ordinary man and tries to lead a normal life.</p>
<p>Montgomery earned five Primetime Emmy Award nominations and four Golden Globe Award nominations for her work on "Bewitched." She died of cancer in 1995 at the age of 62.</p>
<p>The "Bewitched" statue in Salem was unveiled in 2005. </p>

<p>
It all started with a small typo. But it quickly led to a big problem. In the span of a few weeks, a local couple faced multiple credit card declines because of that typo and yet could not find anyone with the power to help restore their credit.Mary and John Neale won't ever look at a store credit card offer again - not after what they've endured the last few months.Their story began in March at the Lowe's in Westborough, where John Neale was buying lumber and a Lowe's employee offered him 20 percent off if he opened an "account."Not realizing it was a credit card, he said yes but then was inexplicably declined."I didn't care. I didn't ask for the discount anyway, so I went to the register," John Neale said.A few days later, John received a letter from Lowe's credit card vendor - Synchrony Bank — saying his request for a Lowe's card was declined because they couldn't verify his identity. Again, it didn't really both him - until his wife Mary Neale made a trip to the mall. That’s when Mary Neale was offered a big discount at Macy's if she paid with her Macy's card. But Mary's card was too old, and so the store clerk told her she needed to reapply. She agreed."And then said, 'It's not going through. You've been declined,'" Mary Neale said. "Meanwhile, there are people standing behind me. They're hearing all this and I'm mortified."Macy's declined Mary Neale's application because John Neale was recently declined by Lowe's."So, now, I cared!" John Neale said, worried about the snowballing effect on the couple's credit.John Neale went back to Lowe's and was told the only way to clear the decline from his record was to successfully apply for the credit card. So, he applied again but was declined again. The reason he was given this time was because of the first decline. That's when he learned he was originally turned down because the Lowe's clerk had mistyped his Social Security number on the application."I was declined because of a typo in the Social Security number that I didn't put in," John Neale said.Even though it was a Lowe's typo, the store passed the buck to Synchrony Bank. It's a good chance you've had one of their cards in your wallet because they provide credit card services to a wide range of major retailers. Nobody at Synchrony - including managers – seemed to have the power to help.Instead, John Neale said everyone blamed their computer system."It is not acceptable to ruin somebody's credit on a typo and say there's nothing you can do about it," John Neale said. "I just felt it was ridiculous. And it was a stalemate that shouldn't be."The credit reporting system "definitely is broken. The fact that they couldn't override their own mistake," Mary Neale said. The Neales say their story raises lots of questions about why it's so difficult to fix a simple error in our credit reporting system. It's similar to the problem Eileen D'Entremont faced last year when Kohl's reported to the credit bureaus that she had died instead of her deceased mother. That error erased her credit score and made her ineligible for a loan. Exasperated that no one seemed to have the power to help, she turned to NewsCenter 5."No one wanted to own up to this," D'Entremont said. "They developed the vaccine faster than I've gotten this thing solved, and this is not right."After the Neales reached out, NewsCenter 5 contacted Lowe's, since the mistake began there. That night John got a call from company management saying they'd get Synchrony to fix the mess.A spokesperson for Synchrony Bank told NewsCenter 5 "we deeply regret" the issues faced by the Neales, and the bank immediately approved John Neale for a Lowe's card. That means his second decline has been erased, and the bank told him it would file to remove the first decline, a process that can take up to 60 days. The Synchrony spokesperson declined to answer questions about why managers don't have the authority to override declines based on human error. The Neales say they're finished applying for store credit cards."Even if they're going to give me the item for nothing, I'm done!" Mary Neale said.

A Massachusetts zoo is seeing a spike in cuteness among its animals with a new addition.Stone Zoo in Stoneham, Massachusetts, announced that a baby prehensile-tailed porcupine, called a porcupette, was born Saturday and is settling in well with its family in the "Windows to the Wild" space. The porcupette, which weighed just over a pound at birth, is the third offspring for 9-year-old mom, Prickles, and 10-year-old dad, Shadow.Pete Costello, assistant curator at Stone Zoo, said staff are weighing the porcupette every morning and that the baby is gaining weight at a healthy pace. The baby, believed to be a male, also appeared to be healthy and alert during its first medical exam on Monday.Prehensile-tailed porcupines are born with reddish-brown hair that will eventually change color and soft quills that will harden over time. They are found in the forests of South America and their tails act like a fifth limb, helping them grasp branches as they move through trees. This species of porcupette is fairly independent after birth and do not nurse often, so zoo guests may see the new baby hanging out on a perch by itself. They are nocturnal and spend much of their time resting during the day. Watch the video above for the full story.

<p>When the parents of a 2-month-old saw that he was choking, they ran into the Framingham Police Department for help, Fox affiliate WFTX reported.</p>
<p>That's when Officer Ryan porter, who's also a CPR and first aid instructor, jumped in.</p>
<p>He saw that the child wasn't breathing, so he flipped him over.</p>
<p>"Officer Ryan Porter was able to deliver some back blows to the baby, which dislodged the obstruction that the baby had in its airway, and then the baby was able to breathe freely from that point on." Dep. Chief Victor Pereira told WFTX.</p>
<p>The child was taken to a hospital as a precaution, the news outlet reported.</p>
<p>Officials say the child is expected to be OK.</p>

FOR A SPECIAL MISSION. MATT: A SUPER SIGHTING IN BOSTON THIS MORNING. &gt;&gt; MY WIFE SAID, "LOOK UP." AND I SAID, "HOW COOL IS THIS?" MATT: SUPERMAN, BATMAN, AND IRONMAN DESCENDING SHRINERS CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL, USING THEIR SUPERPOWERS TO BRING JOY TO THE PATIENTS INSIDE. &gt;&gt; WE’RE JUST CLEANING WINDOWS, BUT SOME FUN FOR THE KIDS. MATT: IS IT HARDER TO DO WITH THE MASK ON? &gt;&gt; YES. YES, SOMETIMES YOU GOT TO TAKE THE MASK OFF A LITTLE BIT JUST TO SEE WHAT YOU DOING, BUT OTHER THAN THAT, IT’S FUN. MATT: WHEN THEY’RE NOT MOONLIGHTING AS SUPERHEROES, HECTOR, JUAN, AND JEAN ARE WINDOW WASHERS FOR PUREVIEW LLC, WHO ARE ALWAYS A WELCOME SIGHT FOR THE PATIENTS HERE. &gt;&gt; SHRINERS WILL TAKE CARE OF ALL KIDS WITH A BURN-RELATED PROBLEM, REGARDLESS OF THEIR ABILITY TO PAY, REGARDLESS OF THEIR INSURANCE STATUS, AND THAT IS WHAT DRIVES A LOT OF THE INTERNATIONAL CARE, WHERE THE KIDS WILL COME FROM OVERSEAS. THEY HAVE NO INSURANCE, THEY CAN’T AFFORD TO PAY FOR THIS. MATT: THE SUPERHEROES JUST AS POPULAR WITH THE STAFF AT THE HOSPITAL AND THE PEOPLE WALKING BY. BUT ULTIMATELY, IT IS ABOUT THE KIDS INSIDE. AND HOPEFULLY BRINGING THEM A MOMENT OR MAGIC THAT WILL BRIGHTEN THEIR DAY AS THEY CONTINUE TO HEAL. &gt;&gt; THE LITTLE KID WAS JUST LOOKING AT US. WAVING. I’M WAVING BACK. KNOWING THE KIND OF WORK THEY’RE DOING HERE, IT MEANS A LOT TO ME BECAUSE I’VE GOT KIDS MYSELF. MATT

There was a super sighting in Boston on Tuesday as Superman, Batman and Ironman descended outside Shriners Children’s Hospital, bringing joy to young patients inside the building. “We’re just cleaning windows — but some fun for the kids,” window washer Juan Batz said. “Sometimes you got to take the mask off a little bit just to see what you doing, but other than that it’s fun.”When they’re not moonlighting as superheroes. the masked men are window washers for PureView LLC.They are always a welcome sight for the patients here at Shriners. “Shiners will take care of all kids with a burn-related problem — regardless of their ability to pay, regardless of their insurance status. That is what drives a lot of the international care, where the kids will come from overseas, and they have no insurance. They can’t afford to pay for this,” said Dr. Rob Sheridan, chief of staff at the hospital. The superheroes hope to bring a moment of magic to brighten patients’ days as they continue to heal.“The little kid was just looking at us,” window washer Jean Edzer said. “I waved. Knowing the kind of work they’re doing here, it means a lot to me because I got kids myself.”

A Boston woman and her two children are safe after a neighbor helped them escape a burning home in the city's Roslindale neighborhood.Boston Fire Department officials said the fire started shortly after 12 a.m. Saturday in the right side of a duplex and grew to three alarms.Clidfod Saintjean, who lives next door to the duplex, said he sprung into action when he heard the fire alarms. He then noticed a neighbor and her two kids trapped on the second floor and decided to use his mattress to help get them to safety."I put my mattress over there in the back and I put it out of the window, and I told them to jump on the mattress," Saintjean said. "But they refused (at first). I tell them: 'Come on, come on. The fire is coming too close to us.' And when I do that, they just drop the kids."Saintjean caught the children down below and then their mother was able to jump to safety."Very heroic. Quick thinking to realize there was a mattress," said BFD spokesperson Brian Alkins. "Neighbors helping neighbors makes our job a lot easier."Alkins said the duplex fire was knocked down within 30 minutes. Two firefighters were transported to an area hospital to be treated for minor injuries and are doing OK, according to Alkins. In all, five adults and four children were displaced by the fire, which caused an estimated $1 million worth of damages. The Red Cross of Massachusetts is helping those displaced residents find housing. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

A staff member at a Boston university is being treated for minor injuries after a package delivered to the campus detonated while they were opening it.A spokesperson for Northeastern University said the explosion happened shortly after 7 p.m. at Holmes Hall. No students were injured. The Boston Police Department's Bomb Squad responded to the scene to investigate the incident, according to the spokesperson. Responding police officers and Boston Emergency Medical Services personnel found the staff member, a 45-year-old man, suffering from minor hand injuries. That man was transported to an area hospital for treatment."I take very seriously that this city is home to everyone's young people, from our littlest learners up to our college students and university staff," said Boston Mayor Michelle Wu. "So we want to make sure we emphasize that this is of the utmost priority: the safety and well-being of all of our young people here."A search revealed a second similar package that was ultimately rendered safe by the Boston Police Department's bomb squad.Cox said the Boston Police Department is working with its law enforcement partners at Boston Regional Intelligence, the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF)."We are going to be working and continue to work with all our campus security partners, as well, to make sure all the students here are safe — as well as the rest of the residents in the city," the commissioner said. The FBI's Boston Division confirmed that it is offering its full support to its partners, especially Boston police, including the full resources of the Joint Terrorism Task Force, evidence response team and special agent bomb technicians."We're fully integrated with our partners and remain committed to resolving the incident safely," said FBI Boston Assistant Special Agent in Charge Jason Cromartie.Sister station WCVB reporter Mike Beaudet said he was teaching a journalism class at Northeastern University at the time. He said his class was moved outside but that neither he nor any of his students heard any explosions."I didn't hear any explosions. I don't think any of the other students did," Dicorpo said. "But we heard the fire alarm and so we assumed we should leave.""It's pretty late at night. Our class was an exception. Most students are home for the day. There's not a lot of classes going on," Maize said.At about 10 p.m., NewsCenter 5's Nathalie Pozo received an alert from the university stating that the scene at Holmes Hall was contained and the campus was secured and that Northeastern police were working closely with Boston police to secure the area."It's very important to note that our campus is secure and we will maintain a secure campus in perpetuity," said Northeastern University police Chief Michael Davis. "That's our work and that's what we continue to do, and we'll be working with our partners here to get this resolved."

Law enforcement officers face all kinds of threats. But out in Massachusetts, they never saw this one coming. They say a 55-year-old woman weaponized bees to try to stop an eviction. Investigators say the winged weapons came stacked in hives on a trailer."The bees came out, unleashed and swarming, angry and they started stinging everybody there," said Sheriff Nick Cocchi.Sheriff's deputies say hundreds of bees started swarming and stinging them, raising fears about possible allergic reactions. The 55-year-old woman managed to zip up her beekeeper suit in the chaos but was arrested by deputies. Investigators say she didn't know the tenant but is known to protest evictions. Thanks to quick action, the woman was arrested quickly before anyone was seriously hurt.Watch the video above for the full story.

<p>They say a 55-year-old woman weaponized bees to try to stop an eviction. </p>
<p>Investigators say the winged weapons came stacked in hives on a trailer.</p>
<p>"The bees came out, unleashed and swarming, angry and they started stinging everybody there," said Sheriff Nick Cocchi.</p>
<p>Sheriff's deputies say hundreds of bees started swarming and stinging them, raising fears about possible allergic reactions.</p>
<p>The 55-year-old woman managed to zip up her beekeeper suit in the chaos but was arrested by deputies. Investigators say she didn't know the tenant but is known to protest evictions.</p>
<p>Thanks to quick action, the woman was arrested quickly before anyone was seriously hurt.</p>

<p>LONGMEADOW, Mass. — A Massachusetts woman is accused of attacking authorities with a swarm of bees to stop a court-ordered eviction in Longmeadow.</p>
<p>On Thursday, the Hampden County Sheriff's Office said on its Facebook page that on Oct. 12 at around 9:30 a.m., Rorie Woods drove up in her Nissan Xterra with a flatbed trailer attached up to a residence as deputies were serving a court-ordered eviction.</p>
<p>"She quickly jumped out of her SUV and started trying to unleash thousand of bees in manufactured hives as a deputy jumped onboard and tried to stop her," the department said in a statement.</p>
<p>The department said the deputy was stung several times in his face and head.</p>
<p>According to the sheriff's office, Woods flipped the entire hive tower off her flatbed, which "extremely agitated" the bees. Deputies said this led to several members of the sheriff's office and other bystanders getting stung, the report said.</p>
<p>Donning a beekeeper suit, deputies were able to arrest Woods as she attempted to a hive closer to the door of the home, according to the statement.</p>
<p>As deputies walked her to a cruiser, one of them told her that he and several other deputies were allergic to bees. </p>
<p>“Oh, you’re allergic? Good,” she allegedly stated back, according to the report.</p>
<p>The sheriff's office said one department staff member was hospitalized after being stung.</p>
<p>The Washington Post reported that several protesters were gathered outside the residence, which Woods yelled at to ask them to take care of her dog, "which she said was unfed, and left in the SUV with thousands of bees swarming outside of it," according to the sheriff's office said.</p>
<p>According to the sheriff's office, the 55-year-old woman did not live at the residence where deputies were serving an eviction notice.</p>
<p>Woods was arrested, arraigned, and released by a judge without having to post bail, but she will appear in court at a later date, the sheriff's office said.</p>
<p>“Never in all my years of leading the Hampden County Sheriff’s Civil Process Division have I seen something like this,” said Robert Hoffman, Chief Deputy of the Civil Process Office, in a statement. "I’m just thankful no one died because bee allergies are serious."</p>

WELL, MARIA, THOSE STUDENTS, THEY WERE PRETTY SURPRISED. THEY HAD NO IDEA THAT ONE OF THEIR CLASSMATES HERE WAS ACTUALLY A 32 YEAR OLD WOMAN. SHE DEFINITELY DIDN’T LOOK 32, I CAN TELL YOU THAT. I WOULDN’T HAVE THOUGHT SHE WAS 32. BUT THEN SHE WAS 32. THESE HIGH SCHOOL FRESHMEN ARE STILL TRYING TO UNDERSTAND HOW SOMEONE THEY SAW IN THE HALLS EVERY DAY WAS ACTUALLY AN ADULT WOMAN ATTENDING CLASS ALONGSIDE THEM. BUT YOU DIDN’T THINK TWICE. YOU THOUGHT SHE WAS IN YOUR CLASS. I THOUGHT SHE WAS A NORMAL STUDENT. I DIDN’T KNOW SHE WAS 32, OLDER THAN THE WHOLE TEACHER. INVESTIGATORS SAY THE WOMAN ATTENDED JEREMIAH BURKE, BRIGHTON AND ENGLISH HIGH SCHOOLS TRANSFERRING FROM SCHOOL TO SCHOOL OVER THE COURSE OF THE LAST YEAR UNDER FALSE NAME. THE SUPERINTENDENT SAYS IT APPEARS TO BE A CASE OF EXTREMELY SOPHISTIC FRAUD. SHE SOUNDED LIKE A TEENAGER, LIKE I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS. RIGHT NOW SHE FEELS COOL. SHE WAS A CRUEL PERSON, JUST LIKE JUST JUST LIKE A NORMAL HIGH SCHOOL. STUDENTS SAY THE WOMAN TRANSFERRED FROM JEREMIAH BURKE HIGH SCHOOL A FEW MONTHS AGO AND INVESTIGATORS SAY PAPERWORK, IRREGULARITIES RAISED A RED FLAG. WE DO NOT HAVE ANY EVIDENCE AT THIS MOMENT OF ANY HARM OR RISK TO THE YOUNG PEOPLE. THANK GOODNESS SHE WAS REALLY NICE, ACTUALLY. YEAH. NO, NO WEARING NOTHING WHILE THE WOMAN WAS ENROLLED IN SCHOOL, THE DEPARTMENT OF CHILDREN AND FAMILIES SAYS SHE WAS ALSO WORKING FOR DCF AS A SOCIAL WORKER. SHE’S NO LONGER WORKING FOR THE STATE AGENCY AND THE MOTIVATION TO ENROLL IN HIGH SCHOOL IS STILL A MYSTERY. THE QUESTION IS LIKE THE SCHOOL DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT IT EARLIER THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE YEAR. I’M LIKE, CONFUSED. SO THERE ARE STILL A LOT OF QUESTIONS TONIGHT. THAT WOMAN’S FATHER SAYS SHE IS NOW GETTING MENTAL HEALTH

High school students in Boston are trying to comprehend how someone they saw in the halls every day was actually an adult posing as their classmate.A 32-year-old woman attended Jeremiah Burke, Brighton and English High Schools throughout Boston, transferring from school to school for the past year under false names. While the woman was enrolled in school, the Department of Children and Families said she was also working for DCF as a social worker. She is no longer working for the state agency and the motivation to enroll into high school is still a mystery.

PORTLAND, ALSO KNOWN AS SCOTTY, WAS PICKING THROUGH SEA GLASS WHEN HER DOG WAS CAUGHT UP IN A CASE OF MISTAKEN IDENTITY. &gt;&gt; I ALMOST THINK HE THOUGHT MAYBE MY DOG WAS THAT SEAL. &gt;&gt; CAUSING THE SHARK TO TRY TO GET AS CLOSE AS POSSIBLE. &gt;&gt; HE ACTUALLY CAME RIGHT UP AS IF HE WAS GOING TO COME ON THE SHORE. &gt;&gt; OH NO HE’S STUCK. &gt;&gt; THE SHARK EVENTUALLY LEFT THEM ALONE LEAVING THEM WITH A STUNNED FEELING. &gt;&gt; I HAVE NEVER SEEN MY DOG HAVE A LOOK OF SHOCK ON HIS FACE AND THE LOOK OF SHOCK WAS I HAD IMAGINE WHAT THE LOOK OF SHOCK WAS ON MY FACE. I DON’T THINK HE COULD BELIEVE IT. &gt;&gt; EXPERT GREG SAYS THE SHARK COULD BE SUFFERING FROM A BACTERIAL INFECTION IN ITS BRAIN. IT WITH THAT ILLNESS GET DISORIENTED ENDING UP BEACHING THEM

A woman who lives on Martha's Vineyard is sharing details about her close encounter with a shark, the first for the 23-year resident of the Massachusetts island.Amanda Borland and her dog, Hamish, were out for their daily walk in Vineyard Haven on Friday when they decided to stop by a sandy strip near the end of the Lagoon Pond drawbridge to play fetch. Borland, who is also known as "Scotty" to locals, was picking through sea glass when she saw the shark, a porbeagle, swimming close to shore."When I took a step back and the shark kind of swam off, I thought he was swimming off for good. But then he turned around and that's when he came right up," Borland said. All of a sudden, Borland said she and Hamish were practically face to face with the shark."I just wasn't expecting it, and he actually came right up as if he was going to come up on the shore," she said. "I almost think that he thought, maybe, my dog was a seal." Borland said the shark eventually left Hamish and her alone, but they were left stunned by the encounter, which she captured on video."Once we stepped back out of the water, I had never seen my dog have a look of shock in his face, and the look of shock in his face was, I imagine, what the look of shock was in my face. I don't think he could believe it," Borland said.Dr. Greg Skomal, a shark biologist at the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries, said the porbeagle shark in Borland's video may be suffering a bacterial infection in its brain. Sharks with that illness oftentimes get disoriented in the water and end up beaching themselves.

INTRODUCES US TO GAVIN FOR WE LEARNED ABOUT AS QUICKLY THAT GAVIN FORD DOES NOT LIVE IN ORDINARY LIFE. AS WE LEARNED THAT GAVIN FORD IS AN EXTRAORDINARY KID. I’M LIKE ANYBODY ELSE. I DON’T WANT YOU TO TREAT ME DIFFERENTLY. HE WAS THE FIRST KID TO PLAY IN THE LITTLE LEAGUE MAJORS IN A WHEELCHAIR IN HIS HOMETOWN OF NORTH REDDING. FUNNY STORY, ACTUALLY. MY FIRST AT BAT. FIRST PITCH, I GOT HIT RIGHT IN THE NECK. JUST THE FASTBALL RIGHT TO THE NECK. AND I WAS KIND OF A WELCOME. YOU’RE HERE. IT’S AMAZING THAT HE’S HERE. BORN WITH SPINA BIFIDA, A NEURAL DEFECT OF THE SPINE. HE USES EVERY OUNCE OF ENERGY TO DO ALL THE THINGS HE LOVES TO DO THROUGH ADAPTIVE BASKETBALL IN LACROSSE, SURFING AND BASEBALL, AND HIS FAVORITE SLED HOCKEY. GAVIN IS A 15 YEAR OLD ATHLETE IN SPITE OF YEARS OF SURGERIES AND MONTHS SPENT AWAY FROM RINKS IN COURTS. AND IN 2020, TWO OUT OF 365 DAYS OF THE YEAR, GAVIN WAS BEDBOUND FOR 192 OF THEM. STILL, HE HOPES ONE DAY TO MAKE IT ALL THE WAY TO THE PARALYMPICS. BUT HIS GOALS DON’T END THERE. I LEARNED ENGINEERING ALL THIS YEAR. I WANT TO BE AN ARCHITECT. THAT’S MY DREAM JOB. NOT EVERY BUILDING IS ACCESSIBLE, SO I DON’T REALLY WANT THAT TO BE A STRUGGLE FOR ANYBODY BECAUSE I KNOW I HAVE TO STRUGGLE WITH THAT. HE’S AMAZING, BUT WHAT I REALLY RESPECT IS HIS WILLINGNESS TO SHARE HIS OPPORTUNITY FOR THE BENEFIT OF OTHERS. SO WHY DO WE DECIDE TO INTRODUCE YOU TO GAVIN FORD TODAY? BECAUSE KIDS LIKE GAVIN ARE NOT JUST HERE TO INSPIRE OTHER KIDS LIKE GAVIN. THEY’RE HERE TO SHOW THE REST OF THE WORLD HOW TO LIVE IN NORTH ANDOVER JOSH BROGADIR WHY WCVB SPORTSCENTER 5? WELL PUT.

Gavin Ford insists on not being treated any differently, despite the extraordinary para-athlete living a life that is anything but ordinary.Ford was the first kid in his hometown of North Reading, Massachusetts, to play in the Little League majors division while in a wheelchair."Funny story, actually. My first at bat, first pitch, I got hit right in the neck. Just a fastball right to the neck and I was kind of like: 'Welcome, you're here,'" Ford said while smiling and chuckling.Born with spina bifida, a neurological birth defect in which an area of the spinal column doesn't form properly, Gavin uses every ounce of energy in order to do all of the things he loves to do. He is able to participate in a number of sports from adaptive basketball and lacrosse to surfing and baseball, and his favorite, sled ice hockey. That is all despite years of surgeries and months away from fields, rinks, courts and the ocean."In 2022, out of 365 days of the year, Gavin was bed-bound for 192 of them," said Jen Ford, Gavin's mother.Gavin hopes one day to participate in the Paralympics, but he also has an even more altruistic goal."I learned engineering all this year. I want to be an architect. That's my dream job," Gavin said. "Not every building is accessible, so I don't really want that to be a struggle for anybody because I know I have to struggle with that.""He's amazing, but what I really respect is his willingness to share his opportunity for the benefit of others," Jen Ford said.

Kate Middleton, the princess of Wales, joined her husband Prince William on what was a green carpet Friday night, capping a three-day visit to Boston with a glitzy, glamorous awards show dubbed by some as the "Oscars for climate change."Prince William and Princess Kate arrived outside Boston’s MGM Music Hall to a roaring crowd. In keeping with the sustainable theme of the event, the princess wore a lime green Solace London dress with her hair styled down. Kate rented the dress from HURR, a U.K. rental platform, according to People. She accessorized with a diamond and emerald choker that the late Princess Diana often wore to events. Royal watchers say Princess Kate's outfit was reminiscent of a bright green gown Diana wore along with the sparkling choker to a banquet in November 1993.The necklace has a long royal history, according to The Court Jeweller, a daily blog devoted to royal jewelry. The emerald choker necklace, which features a distinctive art deco design, dates to the early years of the reign of King George V. The Jeweller says the necklace was made by redesigning an emerald and diamond necklace that was presented to Queen Mary during the Delhi Durbar in 1911.Friday night's event marked the end of Kate and Willliam's three-day trip in Boston. William and his wife, Kate, earlier attended a welcome Wednesday at City Hall and then a Boston Celtics game before the royal couple spent much of Thursday hearing about the threats of climate change and solutions in the works.William became heir apparent less than three months ago with the death of his grandmother, the queen, but he already has been crowned Britain’s chief environmentalist. That was apparent during the Boston visit, which earned praise for drawing attention to pollution and climate change and the need to scale up solutions.

Two airplanes at Boston's Logan Airport came into contact with each other Friday afternoon causing emergency vehicles to swarm a section of the airport.A Massport spokesperson said a United Airlines aircraft came into contact with a parked Delta Air Lines aircraft at a low speed.A United spokesperson said the winglet of a United aircraft clipped the tail of another aircraft.A family on the United flight was watching as the two planes got a little too close for comfort. Their kids pulled out their cellphones and started rolling right as the collision occurred. The video shows the United plane moving at a slow rate of speed when the wing of the United flight clipped the tail of a Delta plane. The family said they could feel the planes bumping together, saying it was a little scary."We were driving through the tarmac and I saw this other plane stationary and we were just driving and it hit the other plane," Daniel Fredrickson said. "I knew it was going to happen. So I caught it on video."Fredrickson said they sat at the location for about an hour after the incident as other people around them took pictures.Online flight records showed the United plane, a Boeing 737 MAX 9, was scheduled to depart Boston for Newark Airport Friday afternoon before coming into contact with the parked Delta Airbus A321 aircraft. "Customers on the United aircraft deplaned normally at the gate, and we will rebook them onto other flights," the statement from United said.Delta said passengers on its plane were waiting to depart for Detroit. Video below: Passenger witnesses planes bump at Logan Airport"While there are no reported injuries to our customers or crew on Delta flight 1657, the aircraft came into contact with another aircraft while awaiting takeoff clearance on the Logan Airfield," a spokesperson for Delta said."Delta teams are working to get customers to their final destinations tonight, and we apologize for the delay."United said there were 128 customers on board the plane. There were no injuries reported.

<p>
Management of a thrift store in a Boston neighborhood says a large hazmat response at one of its locations was the result of someone unknowingly donating an antique container for radioactive material.A representative of Fenway Health, which owns and operates Boomerangs thrift stores, and the manager of the store location said a donation was this made to the store this week that included a small lead container with a screw top. An employee of the Boomerangs store in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood eventually recognized the item as a "lead pig," which was used to transport radioactive materials and shield people from radiation. The discovery prompted Boston Emergency Medical Services personnel and hazmat teams to respond to the store.Investigators found the "lead pig" did at some point hold a type of radioactive material that is often found as a powdery substance. Inspectors determined the container had a very low level of Type A radiation, which should not be a concern for staff or patrons. A full inspection of the store was conducted and it was found to be safe. The "lead pig" was removed by the proper authorities for further investigation. As a precaution, three Boomerangs employees who directly handled the "lead pig" without gloves were transported to Boston Medical Center for an evaluation and further testing. All three employees were released from the hospital Thursday night and are doing fine, according to management.Dee Moore, the manager of the store, further reiterated in a Facebook post that everyone who was in the store Wednesday and Thursday should not be worried about radiation exposure."This was a first for many folks involved, and given the level of risk and unusual circumstances, the utmost precautions and care were taken to ensure that the item was removed safely and that there was no potential spread of the contamination," Moore wrote. "We're grateful to the teams of people who helped us!"Bob Johnson, the director of safety, security and facilities for Fenway Health, said in a statement that the Boston Police Department does not deem the donation of the "lead pig" as a criminal act. But until the police investigation is complete, Johnson said the company will remain on high alert for the store in Jamaica Plain to keep the store and employees safe."(Fenway Health) Safety and Security will conduct a full review of this situation and review the process of receiving donations," Johnson stated. "This appears to be someone with good intent to make a donation who didn't realize what this item may have been."The store was closed Friday due to the emotional impact on the shop's staff, but it reopened on Saturday.Boomerangs has other locations.

The husband of a Massachusetts woman who has not been seen since early in the morning on New Year's Day is in custody.Brian Walshe, 46, was arrested on a charge of misleading a police investigation in connection with the disappearance of his 39-year-old wife, Ana Walshe, according to the Norfolk County District Attorney's Office.Sister station WCVB'S cameras were there as Brian Walshe was taken into custody and led into the Cohasset Police Department in handcuffs. Cameras also captured video of Walshe's gray Volvo XC90 being put into the police station garage. Ana Walshe was last seen by a family member in her Cohasset home between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m. on Jan. 1, according to Cohasset police Chief William Quigley. Quigley also said Walshe's cellphone, as well as her credit and debit cards, have been inactive since New Year's Day.She was reported missing on Wednesday, simultaneously by Brian Walshe and her employer, Washington, D.C.-based real estate company Tishman Speyer. The Norfolk County District Attorney's Office has since taken the lead on the missing person investigation after Cohasset police, the Massachusetts Special Emergency Response Team, Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council and other agencies searched around the Walshe family's home off of the Chief Justice Cushing Highway (Route 3A) from Friday through Sunday.Multiple marked and unmarked police cruisers arrived at the Walshes' home at about 9 a.m. on Sunday, less than 16 hours after Massachusetts State Police and Cohasset Police Department officials said the ground search would not resume unless they developed new information that would warrant a renewed search.Sources told sister station WCVB's Ted Wayman that investigators arrived at the Walshe family's home with a search warrant on Sunday. Detectives were seen wearing protective layers on their shoes as they searched in and around the house.Video showed that the search appeared to extend to sheds near the home, areas where police had not focused on during earlier searches. "Police developed probable cause to believe that (Ana Walshe's) husband, Brian Walshe, had committed the crime of misleading police investigators," reads a statement from the Norfolk County District Attorney's Office.Sister station WCVB 5's Brianna Borghi saw young children being led out of the house Sunday morning. Ana and Brian Walshe have three young boys together between the ages of 2 and 6. Borghi also saw a red truck pull up to the home earlier Sunday morning and drop off an older woman, who spoke with an investigator for a few minutes. That same woman later appeared to leave the home with the children in a different vehicle. Borghi then saw a man leave the home in a separate vehicle shortly thereafter.Brian Walshe is expected to be arraigned Monday morning in Quincy District Court, and the DA's Office said additional facts may or may not be entered into the record at that time.Circumstances of Ana Walshe's disappearanceA family member told police Ana Walshe was supposed to take a ride-share to Boston Logan International Airport in an attempt to catch an early morning flight to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport on Jan. 1."It's been said that she was called to D.C. to handle some type of emergency at one of the properties that she manages. That's why she was attempting to go to D.C. (on New Year's Day)," Quigley said.Quigley added, however, that Cohasset police had been in contact with rideshare companies and have so far been unable to confirm that she got into a rideshare vehicle outside her home. The police chief also said he was able to confirm with all airlines that Walshe did not board a flight this week. Quigley said officers from the Metropolitan Police Department in D.C. searched the Walshe family's Washington townhouse but found no sign of Ana Walshe there. A spokesperson for the Cohasset Police Department said Cohasset and state police detectives arrived in Washington early Saturday morning as part of the investigation. On Sunday, the Norfolk District Attorney's Office said those investigators were returning from D.C., where they sought any possible evidence or information concerning Ana Walshe's potential whereabouts.Friends said Ana Walshe commutes to Washington during the week to work for Tishman Speyer, a job she started last year. She is active on social media, but friends say those accounts went silent on New Year's Day when she was due to catch a flight."She's a loving and loyal wife and mother of three beautiful boys," Alissa Kirby, a friend, said. "She loves her family, and I know in my heart that of her choice, she would not go a day without speaking to her husband and her kids." On Friday, the Massachusetts State Police Special Emergency Response Team and a regional police team spent much of the day searching the area near the Walshe family's home in Cohasset. The search was called off for the night after an area of approximately one square mile was covered.Authorities said 20 troopers from the MSP Special Emergency Response Team, a specialized unit trained in search and rescue operations, as well as three K9 teams, Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council officers and the State Police Air Wing Unit, once again searched wooded areas near Walshe's home with negative results on Saturday. State police divers also searched a small stream and an in-ground pool on the property with negative results, according to authorities. Police said Ana Walshe is 5 feet, 2 inches tall and weighs 115 pounds. She has brown hair, brown eyes and an olive complexion and speaks with an eastern European accent.Anyone with information about Ana Walshe's whereabouts is asked to contact Det. Harrison Schmidt at 781-383-1055 extension 6108 or email hschmidt@cohassetpolice.com. Watch the video above for the full story.

Oh my God, put the rod down. That's what I thought it was too. Dude, you guys got *** giant, great white. The keenan family has quite the tale to tell. Visiting Fort Lauderdale from massachusetts. They decided to go fishing. Campbell keenan loves to fish. Well, it was *** pretty slow day. We were just catching some bait fish and then all of *** sudden something big bit their line when he first started reeling it in, it took out drag. I was like, is this thing gonna pull me in? Because I was just scared. We had to hold on to him. We had to make sure he wasn't going to go off the boat and he had to hold onto the reel and he was strapped in, but not really. So it was just, that was scary. Campbell, just 12 years old, sat and continued to fight with the help of Captain paul, Paolucci and David Jackson. It took *** while, it took 45 minutes or an hour to catch it. We knew we had something pretty substantial from the initial bite. It took about 300 yards out. We were going to fight until the fight was over. You know, just so happened, It was *** great white guys. This is *** great white. This is like, this is like *** hole in one in golf. I was so excited for him because he loves fishing so much and this is like the best you could ever imagine. And once we found out it was *** great way, it was just, we were through the roof Guys, I've been doing this since 2003 is only the second one of these I've ever caught. The fisherman reeling it in to take the line out of its mouth, then to measure and then tag it. It's *** little under 1130 inches long. It was about £450 and absolutely beautiful female. We're gonna let her go, she's still pretty lively. We got the tag, they tagged her so experts can study her migration patterns. Then they let her go. There she goes, guys, There she goes, feels very accomplishing. I mean like the biggest fish I've ever caught before. This was *** 25 inch striper. This is 130 inch great white shark. Little guy did *** great job catching. It happened to be *** great way. It was an awesome experience.

A medical device company in Massachusetts has both saved and changed a young man's life over the last several years.Four years ago, Adam Millar was 19 years old and pursuing a hockey career in his home state of Colorado when he suddenly came down with what he thought were flu symptoms, but his heart had actually lapsed into atrial fibrillation, which quickly turned into cardiogenic shock."I was an active person and then three days later, I was bedridden and on life support," Millar said.Millar nearly died, but two Impella heart pumps, the world's smallest heart pumps designed and manufactured by Danvers-based Abiomed, saved his life."It's crazy," he said. "Just kind of the simple idea of allowing your heart to rest and recover, and let these pumps pump blood throughout your body while it can relax and recover. And then three days later, your heart is fully back to functioning."After recovering from his heart attack, Millar flew to Danvers and began an internship at Abiomed. That is where he met Casey Mucci, who began working in the company's human resources department just six months earlier."His story was very well-known around the office and when he was coming on board, everyone was like: 'Adam Millar is coming!' and I was like: 'Who's this Adam Millar guy?'" Mucci said.It turns out that Mucci accepted Millar's proposal when he asked her to marry him a few months ago, and that the company that made the device that saved his heart brought their two hearts together."I'm very, very grateful that I had the opportunity to join this company," Mucci said. "Obviously, it led me to Adam and our future, and I'm very grateful."Millar, now a senior student at Northeastern University living in Malden, said he lives every day with passion, purpose and gratitude, even about his close call with death."I mean, it saved my life, brought me to my future wife and gave me a passion for a career," Millar said. When Millar graduates from Northeastern in May, he plans to use his mechanical engineering degree to develop the kind of cardiovascular medical devices that saved his life.

There are many signs that adorn the 26 miles of the Boston Marathon course. But one sign caught our attention, and our hearts.A Massachusetts boy held a sign that said, "I beat cancer, my dad beat the marathon."The boy's father told sister station WCVB that his son was diagnosed with leukemia at 4 years old. During his treatment, one of the charities that helped the family was Coughs for Kids With Cancer. He's now cancer free. The experience inspired the boy's father to run in this year's Boston Marathon to raise money for Coughs for Kids With Cancer."It was a help to us," the boy's father said. "It was important to me and our family to give back to the charity."

The sound of sizzling sweet sausages will have to wait. The Major League Baseball season is delayed until at least April 7, as the league and players association fail to make a deal."It’s a big blow psychologically and financially for everyone around the park and everyone in Boston," said David Littlefield, the owner of Sausage Guy. Littlefield’s stand near Fenway Park lives and dies with the baseball season, and the lack thereof."I’m concerned about how long it could go on, that’s the big concern," Littlefield said. "If it gets lengthened and longer — that could get really bad.""There’s so many people who make money with the business of baseball, lot of ancillary businesses depend on that," Adam Sperling, General Manager of Boston's Hotel Commonwealth said. The Kenmore Square hotel has a baseball-themed room with a Babe Ruth card and other cool memorabilia. For now, it sits empty. While the first two series are canceled, Sperling is hopeful the two sides will reach a deal for the sake of society."We’re looking to give people reasons to travel and get out and be social," Sperling said. "This obviously takes one of these key reasons away, so we’re going to hope this gets resolved quickly."
