He passed within just two weeks of his diagnosis. Hundreds of students and families packed the Lawrenceburg High bleachers for a vigil at the school. "I would've never thought, especially for my own son, and him being only 14, it is very overwhelming," Brady's mom Jennifer Gabbard said. "He was very athletic and outgoing, he loved tiger football, he loved baseball, he loved his little sister."His memory lives on through the people who loved him most."Me and Brady were like brothers and it was pretty hard hearing the news, I didn't want to believe it at first," Zayden Jameson said.Brady's jersey, his teammates, and the power of prayer overtook the field that was once his happy place. The city even issued a special proclamation in honor of the teen. July 15, 2021, which is Brady's birthday, will officially be Brady Gabbard day in the city of Lawrenceburg.Brady's funeral services will be held Friday at Lawrenceburg High School. A Lawrenceburg day care is making a young girl's dream come true amid her uphill battle with cancer.Sunshine Corner Day Care is a place that lives up to its name.A place of warmth, support and boundless love, especially when one of their own needs it most."This is about making a 13-year-old child's dream come true for fighting a disease she should never have to," owner Karla Lorey said.Thirteen-year-old Hailee Peelman has been fighting leukemia on and off for six years."She relapsed March 2," Hailee's mom Tara Wilson said.Wilson works at Sunshine Corner, so everyone there knows Hailee's longtime dream of swimming with dolphins in Hawaii."Make-A-Wish that was going to be our goal, she relapsed it got pushed back, we were going to go again and COVID hit a week before we were supposed to leave," Wilson said.Instead of accepting it wasn't going to happen, those at the day care came up with a massive plan.Fundraising efforts for Hailee's dream trip began.Virtual silent auctions, spaghetti dinners, a GoFundMe and even a game called flocking flamingos had folks far and wide chipping in.The goal was to hit the $25,000 the final total was thousands beyond that.Hailey finally found out she was going to Hawaii earlier this month. All those who made it happen found out the good news as well.A family that has gone through so much, getting their dream in the sunshine."This will make a memory for their entire family that will last a lifetime and that's priceless," Lorey said.

The search continued Friday for two boys believed to have been thrown in the Ohio River and just after 8 p.m., a Dearborn County water rescue team came in with a boat after dogs sniffed out a "possible target."Friday's search was supposed to end around 8 p.m. but after possible detection, lights have been lit in the area as investigators continue their work.A few dozen volunteers joined North Star Search and Recovery and Ohio LandSAR in Lawrenceburg in search of 3-year-old Nylo Lattimore and 6-year-old James Hutchinson."It just felt like the thing to do. I'm a mom, and sitting at home, there was nothing I could do. So, I wanted to come out here and help search," said volunteer, Kelley Workman.Peter Ehoodin also volunteered his time."It's the thing to do. I'm retired. I can't sit at home and watch it, so that's why I'm here," Ehoodin said.Crews planned on searching 86 acres of land called the Oxbow."This was one of the main areas that we wanted to get to, and we absolutely could not get to it. We couldn't even get the water cadaver dogs in there," said North Star spokesperson, Tracey Campbell. "We kept thinking the water was going to subside. It would dry out, but then we'd get another day of rain."Now, the floodplain near the Carol Cropper bridge is dry. That's the bridge where Middletown police said James was thrown into the river by his mother and her boyfriend in February. Investigators said the couple tied a concrete block to his body before they threw him in.Investigators in Hamilton County said Nylo was tossed in about 17 miles upriver by his mother's boyfriend in December."We're not going to stop until we succeed in our mission, and it's to bring those boys home," Campbell said.
