Britain and the world are laying Queen Elizabeth II to rest on Monday at a state funeral that will draw presidents and kings, princes and prime ministers — and up to a million people lining the streets of London to say a final goodbye to a monarch whose 70-year reign defined an age.All updates are in EST.3:35 a.m.Mourners are arriving at Westminster Abbey to take their seats for Queen Elizabeth II’s state funeral service.Guests began entering the Gothic medieval abbey shortly after 8 a.m. (0700 GMT; 3 a.m. EDT) on Monday.Dignitaries were arriving later, with many heads of state gathering at a nearby hospital to be driven by bus to the abbey.Westminster Abbey is where Elizabeth was married in 1947 and crowned in 1953.A day packed with funeral events in London and Windsor began early when the doors of 900-year-old Westminster Hall were closed to mourners after hundreds of thousands had filed in front of her coffin since Sept 14. Read the original story below:A day packed with funeral events in London and Windsor began early when the doors of 900-year-old Westminster Hall were closed to mourners after hundreds of thousands had filed in front of her coffin since Sept 14. Many of them had spent cold nights outdoors to pay their respects around the queen’s flag-draped coffin in a moving outpouring of national grief and respect. The closing of the hall marked the end of more than four days of the coffin lying in state and the start of the U.K.’s first state funeral since the one held in 1965 for Winston Churchill, the first of 15 prime ministers during Elizabeth's reign. Two days before her Sept. 8 death at her Balmoral summer retreat, the queen appointed her last prime minister, Liz Truss.Among the last mourners to join the line to see the coffin was Tracy Dobson from Hertfordshire, just north of London."I felt like I had to come and pay my final respects to our majestic queen, she has done so much for us and just a little thank you really from the people,” she said.Monday has been declared a public holiday in honor of Elizabeth, who died Sept. 8 at 96. Her funeral will be broadcast live to more than 200 countries and territories worldwide and screened to crowds in parks and public spaces across the U.K.Police officers from around the country will be on duty as part of the biggest one-day policing operation in London’s history. On the evening before the funeral, King Charles III issued a message of thanks to people in the U.K. and around the world, saying he and his wife Camilla, the queen consort, have been “moved beyond measure” by the large numbers of people who have turned out to pay their respects to the queen.“As we all prepare to say our last farewell, I wanted simply to take this opportunity to say thank you to all those countless people who have been such a support and comfort to my family and myself in this time of grief,” he said. For the funeral, Elizabeth's coffin will be taken from Westminster Hall, across the road to Westminster Abbey, on a royal gun carriage drawn by 142 Royal Navy sailors. The same carriage was used to carry the coffins of late kings Edward VII, George V and George VI, and of Churchill.Video below: Biden pays tribute to queen's 'notion of service'The service, in the Gothic medieval abbey where Elizabeth was married in 1947 and crowned in 1953, will be attended by 2,000 people ranging from world leaders to health care workers and volunteers.Mourners started arriving to take their seats shortly after 8 a.m. (0700 GMT; 3 a.m. EDT). Dignitaries were arriving later, with many heads of state gathering at a nearby hospital to be driven by bus to the abbey. The funeral will end with two minutes of silence followed by the national anthem and a piper’s lament, before the queen’s coffin is taken in a procession ringed by units of the armed forces in dress uniforms, with the queen's children walking behind, to Wellington Arch near Hyde Park. There, it will be placed in a hearse to be driven to Windsor for another procession along the Long Walk, a three-mile (five-kilometer) avenue leading to the town’s castle, before a committal service in St. George’s Chapel. She will then be laid to rest with her late husband, Prince Philip, at a private family service.Central London was already packed before dawn Monday with people seeking out a prime viewing spot, and authorities warned that it would be extremely busy.U.S. President Joe Biden was among leaders to pay their respects at the queen's coffin on Sunday as thousands of police, hundreds of British troops and an army of officials made final preparations for the funeral — a spectacular display of national mourning that will also be the biggest gathering of world leaders for years.Biden called Queen Elizabeth II “decent” and “honorable” and “all about service” as he signed the condolence book, saying his heart went out to the royal family.People across Britain paused for a minute of silence at 8 p.m. Sunday in memory of the only monarch most have ever known. At Westminster Hall, the constant stream of mourners paused for 60 seconds as people observed the minute of reflection in deep silence. In Windsor, rain began to fall as the crowd fell silent for the moment of reflection. Some set up small camps and chairs outside Windsor Castle, spending the night there to reserve the best spots to view the queen’s coffin when it arrives.“It will all be worth it by 4 o’clock this afternoon,” said Sally McCloud, a business manager from nearby Maidenhead. "We’re all here for one reason, whether it be raining or not raining. So I’m quite happy to be here and got a little bit of sleep. I’ve had a nice cup of coffee this morning and we’ll just wait, wait in the rain.”Fred Sweeney, 52, who kitted out his spot with two Union flags on large flagpoles, said “it’s just one night and day of our lives. Elizabeth gave us – you know – 70 years.”One no-show for Monday's funeral will be Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, whose invitation drew criticism from human rights groups because of the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul in 2018. Saudi Arabia is expected to be represented by another royal, Prince Turki bin Mohammed.

Golden State forward Draymond Green has been suspended for one game without pay for stepping on the chest of Sacramento's Domantas Sabonis and will miss Game 3 of the Warriors' first-round playoff series Thursday night. The NBA made the announcement late Tuesday, two days before the series shifts to the defending champions' home court at Chase Center. The NBA made the announcement of a decision by executive vice president and head of basketball operations Joe Dumars."The suspension was based in part on Green's history of unsportsmanlike acts," the release said.Golden State trailed the best-of-seven series 2-0, the first time during the Stephen Curry era the Warriors have been down by two games in their last 28 playoff series. In the fourth quarter of the Kings' 114-106 Game 2 win Monday night, Green stomped on the chest of Sabonis after Curry grabbed a defensive rebound. With the Warriors pushing the ball up court and Sabonis on the ground, Green took a hard step on Sabonis, who stayed down for several minutes as officials reviewed the play.Sabonis was called for a technical foul for grabbing Green's leg and Green was given a flagrant-2 foul that led to an automatic ejection."My leg got grabbed," said Green, referring to a play in Game 1 with Malik Monk. "Second time in two nights. Referees just watch it. I have to land my foot somewhere. I'm not the most flexible person, so it's not stretching that far."Credited as the Warriors' emotional leader, Green has long walked a fine line of pushing the limits with officials — and has even expressed he now feels they're out to get him.The 33-year-old Green has been called for six flagrant fouls and 27 technical fouls in 147 career playoff games. He was ejected from a playoff game against Memphis last season. In 2016, Green was suspended for a crucial Game 5 loss to LeBron James and the Cavaliers in the NBA Finals after accumulating too many flagrant fouls in the playoffs that season. The Warriors wound up losing in seven.Coach Steve Kerr and general manager Bob Myers have long supported Green's fiery nature that leads to technical fouls. Myers even sat with Green next door to Oracle Arena at the Oakland Coliseum when Green was suspended for that 2016 game.In November 2018, Green was suspended by the Warriors for conduct detrimental to the team. Green had secured a rebound in an overtime loss to the Clippers and with Kevin Durant calling for the ball Green instead dribbled the length of the court into traffic and lost control as the Warriors failed to get a shot off. Durant was shown on camera visibly upset. The two got into it afterward, according to reporters on the scene.

<p>The Ohio High School Athletic Association announced the <a class="Link" href="https://ohsaaweb.blob.core.windows.net/files/Sports/Football/2021/2021HarbinReportWeek10.pdf">final computer points ratings</a> for football teams across seven divisions in Ohio.</p>
<p>There are 448 schools qualifying for the 50th annual postseason tournament.</p>
<p>The schedule is for the first round of the postseason Oct. 29-30.</p>
<p>During the playoffs, the first- and second-round games are hosted by the better-seeded team. Neutral sites will be used beginning with the third round (regional semifinals).</p>
<p>Divisions I, II, III and IV play on Friday nights, while Divisions V, VI and VII play on Saturday nights. All playoff games begin at 7 p.m.</p>
<p>The state football finals are scheduled from Dec. 2-5 at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton.</p>
<p>In Division I, Region 4, Moeller (7-3) is the No. 1 seed and will host Oak Hills (0-10) Friday night at Shea Stadium in Norwood.</p>
<p>The Crusaders, who defeated Cleveland St. Ignatius and Lakewood St. Edward in overtime in back-to-back weeks, continue a significant turnaround under head coach <a class="Link" href="https://twitter.com/MikeDyer/status/1451954809075126278">Mark Elder </a>in his second season at the school.</p>
<p>"I'm proud of our guys for what we've done thus far, but we've just got to have a little more consistency," Elder said.</p>

<p>The Knights captured the Eastern Cincinnati Conference title outright on Friday night.</p>
<p>"With this schedule and in this conference, to bring it 10 weeks in a row and come out on the winning end – the ball has to bounce your way sometimes," Kings coach Alex Garvin said. "We had some good games; we played solid in some and didn't play solid in some and still came out with some wins."</p>
<p>Anderson (8-2), winner of six consecutive games, is the No. 3 seed and will host Xenia (5-4).</p>
<p>Winton Woods (7-3) is projected to be the No. 7 seed and host ECC opponent Turpin (6-4). Winton Woods defeated Turpin 41-19 Oct. 8.</p>
<p>Withrow (8-1), which has earned six shutouts this season and was undefeated through five games for the first time since 2004, is the No. 8 seed and will host Troy (6-3).</p>

<p>The Rams won the Greater Catholic League Co-Ed title with a 48-21 win at McNicholas Friday night.</p>
<p>Badin coach Nick Yordy said the undefeated season has been an enjoyable journey.</p>
<p>"The credit goes to all of our kids and the Badin community and their families for all the support and what they do for us and the amount of work these guys put in," Yordy said.</p>

<p>
The trial continued Tuesday for a former youth sports coach on trial for sex crimes involving children.Eric Schmidt is charged with one count of rape, two counts of gross sexual imposition and two counts of public indecency.Tuesday's testimony centered around text messages one of the accusers sent to friends the night she claims she was molested. That accuser is 19 years old, but she was 12 in 2015 — the year prosecutors say crimes against her were committed. The teenager said she was friends with Schmidt's daughter and was at their house for a sleepover in April 2015.During her testimony, she read text messages she sent to friends that night from Schmidt's home in Mason."I said, 'I really don't understand why you find that funny. No, seriously, it's a remarried man trying to rape a freaking 12-year-old kid," the accuser said. She said Schmidt exposed himself and touched her inappropriately in the theatre room of the house after his daughter fell asleep.Assistant prosecutor Travis Vieux asked her, "Did the defendant touch your hand?""Yes," she said.Vieux asked, "Did he touch your arm?""Yes," she said.Vieux asked, "Did he rub up your arm?""Yes," she said.Vieux asked, "Did he touch your shoulder?""Yes," she said.Vieux asked, "Did he touch your breast?""Yes," she said. While prosecutors are trying to use the accuser's texts as proof that Schmidt is guilty of gross sexual imposition and public indecency, defense attorneys tried using the messages to their advantage. During cross-examination, defense attorney Bill Gallagher asked, "Eric is trying to touch you?""Yes," she said.Gallagher asked, "You don't yell, right?""No," she said.Gallagher asked, "You said you just sort of froze?" "Yes," she said."Gallagher questioned how could she be frozen at the same time she carried on text message conversations with multiple friends."Does it shock you at all, in all of your text messaging in here, there's not a single spelling mistake, but you're stressed out and trying to figure out what to do?" Gallagher said."It's called autocorrect," the accuser said. Mason Detective Jeff Wyss also took the stand Tuesday. He said he began to investigate the 2015 allegations, but the case was closed when the accuser's family decided not to pursue charges. That case was reopened in 2019 after a second accuser, also 12 at the time, made allegations against Schmidt. He's been charged with rape in that case.Prosecutors said that accuser was sexually assaulted at a party for football families in the Kings and Mason area. Schmidt had coached youth football, baseball and softball. That girl is 14 years old now and is expected to testify Wednesday. Before calling her to the stand, prosecutors called a relative of Schmidt's to testify about what she said she witnessed in January 2015 when she was temporarily staying with the family. She was 19 years old at the time. She said she was alone with Schmidt watching Vampire Diaries when he suggested they watch the show downstairs. She said they relocated to the theater room and continued watching Netflix.Vieux asked her to describe what Schmidt did that she thought to be sexually inappropriate."When we were watching Netflix, after some time, the notice on the Netflix screen says 'Do you wish to continue? Click yes or no.' That had popped up. I looked to my right to see if the remote was near me to click yes. It wasn't there. I had turned to my left and Mr. Schmidt was sitting there with his genitals out," the relative said. Schmidt has not been charged with any crime in connection to that incident.Schmidt maintains his innocence. Gallagher previously said Schmidt passed a polygraph test.

<p>CINCINNATI — It's Friday in late August so that means high school football is back in Ohio.</p>
<p>Some games are continuing as scheduled, like Lakota West at Colerain, but some teams had to cancel their games due to the pandemic. </p>
<p>Fenwick and Kings high schools both will not be playing in their games since they both had positive COVID-19 cases. However, the teams they were supposed to play, Edgewood and Winton Woods, will play against each other instead.</p>
<p>Ohio's Governor Mike DeWine gave the green light to high school football teams to play earlier in August, but he did give some restrictions in order to slow the spread of COVID-19.</p>
<p>One of the changes will be that game spectators will be limited to players' parents, family members or those closest to the student-athlete. Teams are also only allowed to dress 60 players. High school marching bands will also only be allowed to perform at their home games.</p>
<p>While football starts in Ohio, Kentucky's Board of Education is supposed to meet virtually Friday with the Kentucky High School Athletic Association's Board of Control to discuss fall sports moving forward. The current plan is for Kentucky teams to start their seasons on Sept. 11.</p>

<p>KINGS MILLS, Ohio — The Kings High School football team clinched at least a share of the Eastern Cincinnati Conference title Friday night with a 35-21 win against Turpin.</p>
<p>But the undefeated Knights don't plan on resting on the accomplishment anytime soon.</p>
<p>"Our first goal is to win the ECC title. But after that we want to go as far as we possibly can and make history at Kings," Kings junior quarterback Will Kocher said.</p>
<p>Kocher threw three touchdown passes and scored on a 69-yard touchdown run on the second play of the third quarter. Kings, which had 380 yards of total offense, entered Friday night as the No. 2-ranked team in the Division II, Region 8 computer points standings.</p>
<p>"I think to win and be in the position that we are in going into Week 10 is a great testament to what these kids have done all offseason," Kings coach Alex Garvin said.</p>
<p>"I'm so proud of them and these coaches have done so much work to put us in this position. It just means everything."</p>
<p>Kings, 9-0 for the first time since 2014, scored 28 unanswered points after it trailed 7-0 after the first quarter.</p>
<p>Kocher found junior wide receiver Michael Mussari for the first of two touchdown passes (42 and 70 yards) to help tie the game late in the second quarter.</p>
<p>Two minutes later, Kocher connected with senior wide receiver Andy Bauman for a 36-yard score to help give the Knights a 14-7 halftime lead.</p>
<p>Kocher opened the third quarter with a quarterback keeper. Then, he ran 69 yards for a touchdown to help give Kings a 21-7 lead.</p>
<p>Senior kicker Ryan Sylski recovered his own onside kick, and that helped to set up senior running back Max Sannella's 6-yard touchdown run to give the Knights a 28-7 lead at the nine-minute mark of the third quarter.</p>
<p>Turpin, ranked No. 9 in the Division II, Region 8 computer points standings entering Friday, closed the gap when senior running back Keenan Alcalde – the ECC's leading rusher – scored on an 18-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter.</p>
<p>However, Kocher connected with Mussari on a 70-yard touchdown pass a short time later to help give Kings a 35-14 advantage.</p>
<p>Turpin made things interesting late in the game after senior wide receiver Ryan McDole's 23-yard touchdown reception.</p>
<p>Turpin recovered an onside kick, but Kings junior Jake Cameron's interception helped to seal the game for the Knights (9-0, 7-0 ECC), who conclude the regular season at Little Miami Oct. 22.</p>
<p>Turpin (6-3, 4-3 ECC) plays host to district rival Anderson (7-2, 6-1) Oct. 22.</p>

Several people have now been charged in connection to a series of fights at Kings Island over the weekend. The popular amusement park was forced to close about 30 minutes early Saturday night after several fights broke out between teenagers.Video taken by a guest shows people pushing and punching each other and knocking people to the ground. Both young men and a young woman can be seen hitting others, repeatedly.According to dispatch reports and video, there were at least two large-scale fights within the amusement park on Saturday, with one of them spilling over into the parking lot.Officer Peter Morris with the Mason Police Department was among the first on scene. In a report, Morris says he assisted park security in trying to break up the crowd, adding he saw a male hit a female multiple times, even grabbing her by the throat.Morris says he was shoved to the ground, claiming multiple people started to pull on his equipment while hitting him -- at one point even being sprayed with pepper spray. The report states Morris only had minor cuts and bruises.A statement from the Mason Police Department released Tuesday says multiple individuals have been identified and that "suspect information will be presented to Warren County Juvenile Court for charges."Authorities did not release any names, saying only that they are still working to identify "other responsible parties."Officials with Kings Island also released a statement Tuesday, saying that they will up security measures within the park. Video footage throughout the park has been shared with investigators, park officials said.Increased security will be in place at the park, beginning this weekend. What that increased security entails is unknown."We will continue to utilize our Protect Our Park program, which enables guests to report any safety or security concern through their mobile device," a statement from Kings Island reads. "We are implementing additional security protocols and operational policies as appropriate. We believe these actions will help ensure that Kings Island remains what it has been for nearly 50 years – a place where generations of families and friends can gather for a day of safe fun and good food. More than 3 million guests a year have counted on us for exactly that since we opened in 1972, and we will continue to deliver on that promise for generations to come."

<p>
Kings Island chaos was caught on camera Saturday.Police were called to the amusement park to break up large groups of teens fighting.People who were there said it was traumatic not only in the park, but outside in the parking lot.We learned a police officer was assaulted while trying to help someone else who was assaulted.Mason police said that officer was attacked with a "chemical spray" but added that it was not his mace. They said that officer is fine. But people we talked with said the whole scene was scary."It became a mob. Mosh pit-style fighting," witness Shan Powell said.Powell captured video that might get your heart racing.Families and people including Powell who went to Kings Island for an escape on Saturday, found themselves trapped in tension."There was a lot of yelling. Ice, sodas being thrown at the officers, at each other, but it was just pretty much chaos," Powell said.Powell said he was eating at Coney Bar-B-Que when he said a big group of teens filled the area and a fight broke out at about 7:30 p.m."The whole day, there had been quite a bit of people living without consequences, line-jumping, stealing Coke products, and it was just a really weird feeling throughout the whole day," he said.Powell saw security, Mason police, Warren County Sheriff's deputies and Ohio state troopers arrive quickly. The park said it closed 30 minutes early due to the bad behavior. But people said the fighting only continued in the parking lot."We really just got to work together. This is a community issue. It's not going to be just Kings Island to fix it. It's not going to be just Mason police that fixes it. It's not going to be just the parents that fix it. It's going to be a unified effort," Powell said.So what is the fix?Powell thinks more staffing, maybe new rules and perhaps a hard look in the mirror."They were terrorizing that park last night and you've just got to decide: Is that who you want to be? Is that the image that you want to portray? And then, just make the choice and stick with it and if some of your friends don't follow you, that's OK. But just make the right choices," Powell said.A spokesman for Kings Island released this statement to WLWT initially:"The safety of our guests and associates is always our top priority. On Saturday, the decision was made to close the park 30 minutes early due to unruly behavior and altercations involving a number of teenagers. This behavior did not align with our park's values, and was not the experience we want any guest to have while visiting Kings Island."He then released a second statement to us when we circled back, asking about concerns from passholders who are considering dropping their membership if the fights become a trend:"Yesterday's event was not a normal occurrence at King Island. Unruly behavior has no place at our park. The altercations on display last night do not align with our park's values, and were not the experience we want any guest to have while visiting Kings Island. We are taking immediate steps to address the situation so that our guests enjoy their future visits."Investigators said they have made no arrests, but also said charges could still be filed if they are able to positively identify people involved. They're also still unsure if anyone was hurt during the fighting because they said everyone scattered and ran from the area.
